“Best beach I've been to”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 December 2013

This is a great beach! The only bad thing is that you have to pay for a chair if you want one. You can walk out in the water for a long way. No one will bother you for anything. There's two bars if you do want a drink.

Beach was clean, safe, good for sunbathing, swimming and walking. Beach amenities are available. Water was not rough and pleasant for swimming.

“nice but small”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 November 2013

one of the best beaches in Barbados. turtle activity at night. water was ruff on some days and calm on others depending on the weather. reef is close enough to shore to swim out to if your a good swimmer. sand is soft and maintained well by the resorts located on it.

“Lovely long beach with good facilities”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 November 2013

This is one of the few beaches left in Barbados where it is possible to swim without being overcrowded. The facilities were very good and no hassle. Clean, clear water and plenty of snorkelling opportunities. Only improvement could be to banish the jet skis!

“Dover Beach is great for a day visit or long stay”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 November 2013

This is a beautiful beach! The water is usually warm and clear and beautiful. There is a lifeguard stand making it a safe option for families but as well for those looking to work on their tan and enjoy some cocktails.
When you approach the beach generally a beach vendor will ask you if you'd like a umbrella and chair. They are not aggressive and very kind. I personally love this option and highly recommend it. I think, don't quote, that the umbrellas are $15 bajan to rent for the day and the chairs are $5 each to rent for the day.
My favourite Pina Coladas come from a place called "De Shack" which is the shack in line with the entrance to the beach and the life guard stand. Peter or Rasheed will set you up there. As well they have 3 rum & coke for $10B which is a hell of a deal! They will also deliver you 4 Banks for $10B with a bucket of ice on the beach. Good deal! Good people!

My favourite place to eat is near Charles Water Sports. Look for Shack #9 (they are numbered in that row). I have no idea what it's called but the food usually arrives around 11:30am and the woman offers you a selection of Salted fish, veggie chow mien, chicken, flying fish, mashed potatoes, green salad, steak fish and omg their Macaroni Pie. The pie in this shack is some of the best I've ever had on the island (which is hilarious because it kinda appears sketchy at best) but it has some sort of curry blend spice in it and it's deelish! Nothing better when you are hungry or hungover (or hungry and hungover) then going to this shack and having some Mac pie and a piece of chicken! Plus it's cheap like borsht. I think the 2 items is something like $10B which is much cheaper than the other stands at Dover. If you are staying for a long while in the area then this is a great option.

Sunday nights there is also Karaoke in the square!

There are a few beach characters that hang out in the interior and exterior of Dover but they stick to their own and there is also a good Police presence on this beach which is nice.

Ps. While there are public washrooms here just be warned to bring your own TP ladies! There is never any in the washroom. haha
