“I'm not from Yorkshire”
Reviewed 15 November 2013

Seeming someone felt that she was not having enough attention because we were all from a club full of repeat clients!!
I am not going to give this childish nonsense any credence other than to say it was herself who told everyone at the cocktail party that she had lost her luggage and everyone the next day was enquiring if she had received it out of sympathy. At no time had any of the staff discussed it.
In relationship to coming from Yorkshire or any other county, or town for e.g Coventry we were given superb attention and service from the staff without having to make any demands on them but if customers feel that they have not received100% then it is their prerogative to complain! however if we have anything to say it is not for this web site but to go straight to the horses mouth.
This hotel is in our opinion, but then we are midlanders, superb.

Room Tip: A good room is no 5.

This small beachside property is about 30 minutes from Bridgetown on the Caribbean. It doesn't look much from the road, but both wings of rooms surround lush tropical gardens with heaps of wildlife.

The reception experience was as one would expect from Relaix and Chateux, warm and personal.

The rooms are large with great king beds and all facilities. The sitting room and kitchenette lead on to balconies with, in our case, views across the pool to the sea.

The restaurant is a stand out feature of this property, with local boy made good chef Michael Harrison in charge of a menu which reflects his international training and experience. Dishes are innovative, delicate and tasty, whether you are sitting down to breakfast, lunch or dinner.

We noticed most of the guests who were staying for longer than the weekend were eating out much of the time, reflecting the number of good eateries in Barbados, and also perhaps the premium pricing of the food here.

The pool was large enough to accommodate a number of guests splashing around at the same time, and there are lounges, tables and towels a plenty.

The beach in front of the hotel was a bit disappointing. There's a large retaining wall along the beach, with a parallel breakwater about 50 meters off shore to provide a protected swimming pool, but entry and exit were awkward when we were there, and the sea a little rough. Better beaches can be found to either side of Cobblers Cove.

Much as we liked Cobblers Cove, we'd probably look for an equivalent quality property with a better beach next time.

Room Tip: Quieter rooms on the northern side. No lifts, so choose ground floor if stairs are an issue.

A wonderful family owned hotel offering old world Caribbean charm and style. Excellent service and wonderful food in a beautiful beach and garden setting. Friendly staff are on hand at all times. Free amenities like water skiing and scuba diving are included. One of the most memorable aspects of our stay was the famous Cobbler's Tea, ices by the pool side and a delightful boat trip and beach picnic organised immaculately by hotel staff.

I must have stayed at Cobbler's Cove now five or six times. I love the way it is constantly updated & improved, without it altering the mood & relaxed feel of this family owned hotel. The food gets better & better - not great on the waist line, but what can you do faced with plantain and flying fish on the menu for breakfast?
can't wait to go back.

I spent another week in this excellent hotel in October 2013.

The hotel is a wonderful place with very old fashioned service and charm. The staff are attentive - many of them have worked for the hotel for years and some for decades. Nothing is too much trouble

The service is exceptional. We relaxed immediately and stayed relaxed for the entire trip. It is very easy to do nothing here, but for the more active there was golf, water skiing, tennis and yoga to keep us busy. The hotel shop is small, but full of high quality clothes.

The atmosphere is one of an English country house with delicious and irresistible afternoon tea at 4pm every day. Most of the guests had, like us, been before

The biggest change from my previous stay is the truly exceptional food. The food here has always been very good - both in terms of quality and value and particularly relative to other places on the island. The food really is now of international quality and the chef should be very proud of the major strides he has made over the last year.

If you are looking for a charming intimate hotel with great service and an excellent location, Cobblers Cove is for you.

The setting sounds ideal but so much is crammed into such a small site. The first floor suite was large and spacious and overlooked the tropical gardens. There is no beach as such, but a terrace overlooking the rock and sand shoreline. Beneath the sea wall is a public sandy path less than 1 metre wide. You need to be up and abut early to claim a sunbed in a favoured or slighlty shaded location.

The se-fron restaurant is ok. The menu offers a wide choice and it's always nice to try 'exotic' dishes that you would not normally see. But the service was somehwat variable. One night we had to call the maitre d' after waiting almost a full hour between our starters being cleared and the main course arriving.

The hotel is well located, a short walk from Speightstown or a bus/taxi ride from Bridgetown. It was a very pleasant week but I doubt we shall return.

We have just returned from our second visit to Cobblers cove, our first being our honeymoon 10 years ago and what an amazing experience we have had!
One is always apprehensive about re visiting a destination when the initial visit had been for a special event but we were not disappointed - Cobblers is as memorable as ever.
The whole ambience which it creates left my husband and I relaxed within minutes of arriving. We had an ocean view suite which was brilliant and it was a pure joy to wake up every morning and look out to sea - what beauty and tranquillity. Service levels by staff were second to none as they all treat us incredibly well making sure that all our needs were met.
We ate most evenings in the restaurant which was excellent - one lunchtime there was a buffet and we hoped that this would be repeated maybe on an evening as it was so good but unfortunately not.
I visited the spa whilst I was there and had a massage which was good - not amazing but very nice.
I would have no hesitation to recommend this hotel to ANYONE - it was fantastic and will remain one of our favourite hotels.

Room Tip: ocean view suite - no 4
