ABSOLUTELY MAGICAL!!!!! HIGHLIGHT OF MY TRIP!!!

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 11 Jul 2012
From the time we drove up, this was an incredible experience!!! The chateau is on a beautiful setting, and it was amazing to be able to stay there. My room had the most beautiful window looking over the grounds. It was so magical that I never wanted to go to sleep!!!! Very friendly service. I would definitely go back and wish I could have stayed longer!

We would like to experience chateau stay in Loire Valley, however, we are not driving, so need to find chateaus that are reasonably close to train station or down town.

De la Bourdaisiere is the best option we find, and turned out great.

We stayed in two different rooms in the chateau, and asked the manager to tour us around the rest. It is worth going through the descriptions on their website, and specify which room you like, most of the rooms are great, still there are lemons.

Dinner choices are limited for us non-drivers, we did dine in the chateau. Cooking is good, but we just missed the chance of trying any tomatoes.

The garden itself is a nice walk by itself.

We thank you for your comments.
Unfortunately, you came to early in the season to taste the tomatoes.
But we hope you'll get this chance during your next stay.

To stay at a castle/chateau of this incredible caliber is unbelievable- especially when the room rates are not at all crazy expensive! We pulled up to the chateau at night, and literally had jaws dropped to the floor. The manicured grounds, stunning entryway/lobby/fireplace....it was truly a magical moment that I will never forget. If you are driving to see castles through the Loire Valley, this is 100% THE place you must stay at..even if for just one night.

This was one of six hotels in which we stayed during our week-long trip through the Loire Valley and it certainly was the best of the 3 chateaux we experienced. The grounds with their somewhat quirky "art," coupled with the science of the tomato varietals (while we were unable to see the live plants, there is enough evidence of what it must be like in the Fall), make this a unique place. Our room in the main building was charming and had great views. We enjoyed the common areas, which made us feel very much at home. Even though the only meal service at the chateau is breakfast, the friendly and accommodating staff had an excellent recommendation for dinner. Overall, this chateau had a special feel to it that others did not.

The atmosphere is very pleasant and relaxed while being an elegant and historic chateau. The gardens and grounds are fascinating- from the tomato stakes bordered by boxwoods to the large atlas cedars and woodland cyclamens which were blooming at the time of our visit in early November. It was nice to see a bit of clover in the grass and a concern for the environment.
All the staff members were helpful and forthcoming and the breakfast service in particular was excellent. Those very French breakfasts gave us a great start for our excursions to visit other chateaux in the region. And, at the end of the day, and having enjoyed restaurants recommended by the staff, it was wonderful to come back to the chateau and to our attractive, comfortable, and well kept apartment. The photographs do not deceive you! A bit difficult was getting around, but the Gps helped and the road signs pointing to the chateau were a plus. We hope to have occasion to visit again and will strongly recommend it to our friends with an interest in history, gardening, French food, and country comfort.

Room tip: Staying in the chateau itself was good because we could use the main rooms and be close by for breakfast. The apartments are nice for a family, but a door between rooms adds more privacy. The spiral stair can be difficult. The elevator which we did not expect in a chateau was a help with all the luggage. From what we saw walking by we would have been happy with just about any arrangement- all the rooms had character. Beds in both rooms were comfortable, so I suspect the others were too.
