We stayed the first week of June, perfect weather and lovely cottage.
We found very comfortable, clean except for BBQ which was a lot cleaner when we left! We where very surprised at the patio area on side of property which is not shown on photos, private and plenty of sitting had breakfast every morning and a couple of BBQs out there. Bed rooms where perfect except for son's shower which he had a few problems getting temp right. There was a nice round walk to do in evening that took about an hour. Well stocked kitchen. All building very bright and spacious.
If I had to say one thing I didn't like it was the pictures on main wall, wish they where more Scottish.
We booked this cottage for a week with the two of us and 4 kids.
The drive up was spectacular, when we arrived the house was ready for us and perfectly clean, the only thing that wasn't working was the wifi as BT were having issues in the area that week, these things happen. I managed to get a 3G signal in one of the bedrooms. The house was spacious and the kitchen well stocked with all you need to prepare meals for all 6 of us. A good selection of DVDs, Books and games were available.
Nearby up the road was an adventure playground with a zip line that the kids really enjoyed and I noticed an EV charge point just before it for any EV drivers!
Tomintoul is a small town/large village and has a few shops mainly geared to tourists, a small shop and a chip shop van that comes every now and then. It has a whiskey shop too.
The location is perfect for a little exploration of the Highlands, the nearest petrol station is a good 20 min drive so make sure you fill up when you can.
We visited Inverness, Aviemore, the Black Isle and surrounding area the kids also enjoyed Landmark outdoor adventure park.
All in all it was a great cottage in a great location and I'd highly recommend it to anyone looking to get away in the Highlands.
