“Bayside Cottage for two.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 September 2013

We stayed in a bayside cottage for two (cottage #6) the last weekend of September. The cottage was super cute, fully equiped kitchen, very clean, and comfortable. It's across the road from the beach, but it's just a quick 5 minutes walk to public beach access.

The service was fantastic! The owners were there for the weekend and they were very friendly. They brought us a bag of wood and we had our little fire at night just outside of our cabin.

Long Point was beautiful and with the warm weather we spent most of the weekend at the beach. The only downside about visiting this time of year is that most things are already closed for the season. We had to go into Port Rowan to eat and there weren't many restaurants and everything closes REALLY early. However, worth the trip in the fall because we had the beach mostly to ourselves.

We stayed in one of the queen lake-view rooms. The room was on the smaller side with no table or chairs but there was a fridge and microwave. The lake could be seen through the window however the beach was across the road. It was a small private beach belonging to the resort. At this point the beach is at a higher level than the lake with a mound of rocks separating the two so you cannot go into the water here. However the public beach and the Long Point Provincial Park, with its beautiful sandy beach were a short drive away. The best part about the location was the tiny ice cream shack on the beach just across the road.We tried many flavors and they were all delicious, rich and creamy.
The room itself was very clean, the bed comfortable, the washroom was decent sized but the shower stall was in a state of disrepair with peeling sides and floor. It was a good thing we got a last minute special on the room ,it was not worth the regular rate.

Spent the May long weekend at the atPlay Motel, view was great. The room was warm but very clean, Walked to the ice cream shack on the beach across the road and ate a very nice lunch at the Causeway Restaurant. Long Point is very nice, I would recommend visiting the area.

I had a great time in a comfortable, air conditioned cabin. The birding in the area is great, we saw many different species and the bird banding station was enjoyable. The cabin had everything we needed including linens and towels. We sat under the covered patio and looked down the channel. A nice overall experience.

The tap water was browny orange in color--probably caused by rusty water pipes. The discoloring of the water was so severe that one might not even dare to take a shower. The bathroom was very tiny and a spider crawled out from the bathtub drain. A length of spider thread was hanging from the ceiling light over the bed. Bread-crumb was found on a table. Overall, the room was in a bad condition. However, the room rate was comparable to a 3- or 4-star hotel!

Spent the weekend in a King Lake View Room. Walked into a very hot room. There was a tiny A/C unit near the front door. Was not nearly large enough to cool our room, nor the adjourning room where our daughter was staying in. For the amount of money we paid ($250/night) I would have expected to be able to sleep comfortably. the building that our room was in was surrounded by a trailer park too. On the positive side there was a nice restaurant - The Causeway and a great ice cream stand right across the street from our room.

We looked on trip advisor before we left.. It was terrific! a nice cottage by the beach - just a 2 minute walk and 5 minutes to all the local birding sites. The staff was friendly and helpful. Our cottage matched our interwest stay in amenities.. dishwasher, fully stocked kitchen with stainless steel appliances... big comfy bed... table with chairs... dishtowels... bbq and waterside picnic tables. Restraunt with home cooking and a small store with ice cream and veggie stand..

It is a dry town... which was great from us.. away from the other areas on the biosphere where many teenagers party. A bit pricey in the high season but the location was worth the extra. They offer many adventure packages.. We didn't try them but the equipment looked great.
