“Great place for a deliciously restful vacation”
Reviewed 20 August 2013

I have to leave today and don't feel like going away. Vichayito is a favorite place and Mokala is a favorite place in Vichayito. Comfortable accomodation, warm and helpful owners, delicious food and improvements every time I come again, like the pool. Also, fair prices. This is my fifth time here and surely not the last one.

Room Tip: Bungalows are best.

My hot girlfriend and I stayed here 2 nights in late January 2012 for 150 Soles/$58 per night, which was a bargain compared to other nearby hotels. Friendly on-site Owners Freddy and Monica Remond have built a clean, green, quiet and friendly oasis steps from Vichayato's expansive beach, about 8 KM from Mancora, which is a two-hour scenic beach walk with plenty of stop offs for food and drink ... or a 20-minute moto taxi from the Mokala.

We were recommended to avoid sleeping in Mancorra because of the noise/crowds. So we had the idea of being able to party/shop/dine in Mancorra if we wanted (we didn't) but then being able to retire to a quieter, safer beach neighborhood south of the busy town. In the end, we didn't go out much and ate ceviche, fish and barbecue (very good and healthy portions) at the Mokala, along with the free breakfast. The Wifi was fast and reliable and the common areas very welcoming (pool, dining, TV, covered patios).

I enjoyed a 2-hour zip line ride in an eco facility, Caprichosa, which also has a good restaurant/pool that others in my party were able to enjoy while I was ziplining.

In our clean room with good beds we slept to the Pacific wave lullaby at night and woke to the sounds of love birds, and red and yellow song birds. The pool is clean and refreshing and common areas welcoming.

They also have cool A-Frame Family Cabanas that sleep up to six people at 60 soles per person

Nearby attractions can be arranged through hotel: Horses, Jet Ski, Four by Fours, Zipline, Whale watching (Sep-Nov), Peru's Top Surfing spots, fishing. Freddy is a former surfer who knows which surfing breaks to check out daily depending on conditions. There are world-class waves here as well as more friendly breaks. The water is year-round comfortably warm and good for swimming in front of the hotel. For surfing... some accessible break is usually giving free rides without huge crowds most weeks of the year.

NOTES:
Our room had hot water, but not all do. They have a beautiful yellow lab. The hotel seemed very safe. Freddy served COLD beers in chilled glasses, a nice touch that I enjoyed no where else in Peru to date.

Room Tip: Ask for a hot water room, if you desire one.
