You can walk for miles on firm sand with few other people about other than a few placid cows (local retinto breed) on the beach

The whole coast near here gets rather windy, and those who suggest Bolonia instead of this beach may not have spent enough time at that beach (we stayed in hostal at Bolonia for a week so saw enough to want to escape to other beaches, including Canos de Meca and Zahara). Few things to be aware of is, there are no public facilities on the beach, so come in your swimwear if you are self-conscious in that regard) or change in the car, bring plenty of water, as there is little to replinish supplies nearby, and collect rocks to put on your towel as you go into the water, as it will not be long before the towel follows you into the sea.

Looooooong endless beach, ideal for long walks in the morning or just before sunset.

Watch out for rocks, particularly by the Atlanterra Hotel area, other than that, fine sand, clear tourquoise green to dark blue waters and a relaxed atmosphere, just like most of Cadiz coast line.

This part of the world is rather windy, which makes sunbathing a cool bliss, but there will be days when wind force might be too much.

In my opinion, Conil beaches are slightly better, but Zahara is still a winner.

....windy and sometimes rocky... Much better beach is located in Bolonia. Showers are sparse as for this long beach!

Avoit it if strong wind from the east ("Levante"). It is relatively uncommon but come from inland and make impossible to be on the beach due to the sand.
