“Fantastic out of the way beach”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 November 2013

I love this beach, it's so peaceful. We visited about 11 years ago and had to bring our children to see it. They loved it to. Very secluded and quiet with no facilities but that's why it's still unspoilt.

“Beautiful Beach - quiet and out of the way”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 September 2013

This little cove is tucked away at the end of a windy road with a car park that feels like little more than a cliff top. As a result it's largely unspoilt and relatively quiet. Striae of rock run down the beach forming multiple pools as the tide goes out and the surf is strong enough to allow surfing without being so dangerous that children can't play in the waves.

The rocks running down the beach do limit the amount of sand to play on and can be a nuisance when concealed under water. However that's a small price to pay for such a beautiful beach.

“Love it!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 August 2013

for those of you brave enough Welcombe mouth is a little piece of paradise. Accessed by a narrow lane, feared by those who value their car paint work, suspension and exhaust. There are passing places but sometimes they are used as parking spaces. Managed by the National Trust there is a donation box for parking in the car park.

The South West coast path goes though said car park and walking is a sensible option for access, especially during the busy summer periods. The path down the cliff from said car park is usually not enough to deter the average family from taking wind brake, cool box, BBQ, sun lounger and bucket and spade down with them. I wear sensible shoes.

It is a popular spot with surfers and neoprene clad wave dodging tourists alike. But beware of the interesting currents, and ending up on rocks. It is best avoided in a strong Northerly and Westerly winds.

No facilities here at all.

“Lovely quiet out-of-the-way beach”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 August 2013

The beach is very quiet, being off the beaten path. The last few hundred yards are on an un-made road to a small National Trust carpark (free). There are steps down to the beach, which is mostly pebbly with some areas of sand at low-tide. There were a few surfers around, although most of the foreshore is quite rocky. At one end of the beach a waterfall drops down into the sea - very picturesque. There are no facilities here, so take your own food and drink if staying for a while. The Old Smithy pub up the road in Welcombe is a nice place to eat and drink. It was also quite windy the day we visited (late afternoon), but the beach was very sheltered and kept the evening sun.

“Beautiful but hard to get to!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 August 2013

A beautiful little bay with a the river creating a small waterfall that you can bathe under! However, be warned that the road down to it is steep and narrow and the car park at the bottom is tiny! Get there early and you'll be fine though!
