“A very special Birthday holiday”
Reviewed 28 May 2014

My Partner Robert booked a very special holiday at the Aeolos beach resort for a week of relaxation and to celebrate my birthday. On arrival at the Aeolos we were welcomed by very friendly reception staff who took us to one of the bungalows set in this beautiful surroundings. The complex has everything, from an affinity pool to a private beach and a large restaurant offering delicious cuisine. There is also a beach restaurant and a terrace bar overlooking the stunning beach. On the Saturday evening I was treated to the Eros dinner on a private getty and experienced a 7 course fine cuisine meal with a private chef and waiter tending to all our requests. It was magical and my particular thanks to Mary the concierge for organising the dinner and the delicious birthday cake on the Sunday evening. A truly magical holiday and we will definitely be returning. Thank you for making it so special.

Room Tip: Pay a bit extra and get a sea view and a higher level to avoid the ghekos

This hotel has the most amazing seascape views - expecially from the pool & pool bar and from rooms on the upper level of the hotel.
Our room was very clean and modern - although if I was being picky I would say that they were a little stark. The bathrooms and deco were very new and crisp and there was plenty of wardrobe and drawer space for clothes.
The pool was huge and very clean and well maintained. If you had very small children though, you would struggle at the main pool as there was no shallow area. A seperate childrens pool was located by the restaurant but adults would not want to use this pool as it is very shallow.

The staff are very friendly, polite and courteous and we were always made to feel very welcome. The shop keeper, Christos, and the waiting staff - especially at the beach restaurant - were so lovely and made us really enjoy our holiday even more.

The only downside of the hotel is the 11pm finish at the bar. Being an all-inclusive it felt early. Also, the hot food in the main restaurant wasn't always very varied and sometimes the quality wasn't what is expected of a 4* hotel but this wouldn;t stop me going back.

Room Tip: Rooms from 2000 upwards at the top of the hotel have the best views and are nearest the pool but are...

I've spent 10 days at the Aeolos this month and was - generally speaking - quite pleased. The hotel setting is beautiful, with lovely gardens, which were very well maintained. The staff was courteous and kind, while the rooms were spacious and well cleaned.
The food is of good quality, with diversity in terms of meat, fish; there was also a reasonable diversity of beverages available. I noticed that not all the bread presented for breakfast or other meals is fresh from the day; some of it was from the day before. I also noticed this with the pancakes, so do be selective of the bakery you choose. I think they could improve desserts available, as although some of them were good, most of them are just ok and for a few days we had always the same deserts being served. I also think they could do better in terms of fish dishes, with simple grilled fish being available. Usually, the fish was either baked in the oven with different sauces or battered with egg and grilled.
We went on an all-inclusive basis and it is well worth it. However, the cocktails offered are quite poor. I know they use local drinks but I do not think that is the problem. I think the mixtures should be changed because I did not like any of them.
In terms of location, this hotel was exactly what we wanted: about 15-20 minutes from the airport, in a quiet area as I wanted to relax and spend time sunbathing and reading but also not far from everything. The #6 bus can take you to the capital Corfu Town and the journey is 30 minutes, or to the local village of Benitses which is very nice. The hotel is quite isolated in that it´s not located in a busy area with lots of shops, but across the road there is a small supermarket for basic necessities and other local merchandise.
From here, we walked to Kanoni to see the monastery by the sea and the island of Pontikonissi. It is about an hour’s walk to the monastery, but it is a beautiful sight once you get there. However, the main road can be quite narrow and dangerous at certain spots, because there is no pavement on most of the route. You can take the bus and it is a 10 minute bus drive with a 15 minute walk to the monastery.

Another great thing about the hotel is the fact that if you walk up until the top there is a back road that can take you to the Achilleion Palace. It is a 30 minute walk from the hotel but this palace is one of the main attractions of Corfu and well worth a visit. The empress of Austria and Queen of Hungary Elizabeth lived there.

The hotel has also a private beach with an internal access; you do not need to cross the busy road to go there as there is a subway beneath it. It is a lovely small beach with a bar where you can take advantage of the all-inclusive drinks and they have also light lunches of pasta and pizza for people who want to spend the day at the beach. The swimming pool is also beautiful, with plenty of sunbeds in both the swimming pool and at the beach. It’s quite likely that in high-season, there might not be enough sunbeds for all the sun-worshippers, but I doubt that all hotels can guarantee them for every single guest. Close to the swimming pool there is a bar with lovely lounge sofas and stunning views. A great spot for a bit of relaxation, a good book and a ice-cold drink at an arm’s length. They also serve snacks and ice-creams.
The hotel has a few cats around and three lovely dogs that seem to be very lazy and sleepy throughout the day.

All in all, I would recommend this hotel if you are looking for a quiet place that is not completely isolated and has bus connections to the capital.

I have just got back from Aeolos beach resort and all I can say is how amazing the hotel is! The restaurant caters for pretty much all eating types if you can't find anything to eat you really do have a eating problem! The staff are always polite and happy to help! Their selection of drinks is pretty good and they have a menu of cocktails which I have to say are amazing!
The hotel itself is set on a hill so I would not recommend it for people who have a disability unless you ask for a room in the main hotel.
My room was a basic studio bungalow as I was staying on my own it still hadn't been updated but it was very clean and presentable, the cleaners came in most days to clean the room and are always very discreet and do not mess with your belongings.
The dogs at the hotel are all very friendly and love any food you have going spare!!
I would recommend this hotel to all my friends and family and I am definitely booking to come back again!
Thank you to all the staff at Aeolos for making my s
stay as relaxing as possible!

Just a little tip if your on t-mobile you won't get signal so it's worth paying for the wifi which you can get pretty anywhere around the hotel!

My Mother in Law, Sister in Law, Wife and myself stayed here last year, in fact, this was the third visit for my wife and her mother. I said in my previous review that no place was perfect, but some were more perfect than others! This was an eleven night visit. When we arrived, our cases were taken up to our room for us. About five minutes later, we received a bottle of wine and fruit, with a note thanking us for returning!
Everything was new. A new warm light granite kind of colour scheme. Not only were the rooms totally refurbished, but the dining room appeared to have had a complete makeover as well. The food was even better. Up in the bar, the staff were their usual selves, fun and friendly and efficient. New furniture in the public areas meant more places to sit. Weather for the first week was not brilliant, but we still thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Trips up the hill to the outside bar area, down to the lovely beach and bar/eating area. Just one small point. We were not there to watch television. When the weather was not brilliant however, and in the mornings and at night, is it possible that you could get a couple of channels for the UK guests? Even Sky News. One final bonus. This year they had sambuca in the all inclusive bar menu!
