We are language students currently living in San Jose for a year. As part of our language learning experience we are encouraged to learn the culture and country where we are studying, SO we took an opportunity before school starts back in January to visit Rio Celeste near Bijagua. We found Sueno Celeste through Tripadvisor when looking for lodging around Bijagua and are glad we did. It was a serene place to relax after traveling half a day from San Jose. The next day Daniel briefed us on how to get to Rio Celeste after serving us a delicious breakfast of fresh fruits, eggs and homemade bread and marmalades. We spent nearly the whole day in Rio Celeste, ate dinner at Tilapia Angel back in town and turned in for the night. The rooms are perfect with a nice large bathroom and plenty of space with a terrace complete with hammocks for enjoying the view of Volcan Tenorio. Their property is also great for walking trails through banana, coffee and guayaba plants as you decend to a lake on adjoining property where you can watch the birds. The only thing missing at Sueno Celeste was the availability of wireless internet (but you don't select from these hidden gems based on the availability of technology) and there are internet cafes in town. We would highly recommend that you allow Daniel, Dominique, and Maeva to take care of you during your stay in the area. We definitely hope to be able to visit them again during our next break from school in late April!
