Due to bad luck I have not been able to try the weekday menu. Each of my visits has been at a weekend when the menu is fixed three courses in the creole style. It has been different every time and excellent every time too. This most recent visit I tried to book on a Friday, but they were full - proof of their success.
We had beignet (or frittered) aubergines with curried vegetables and a mild sauce to start. The main course was crevettes (shrimp) on a bed of vegetables, perfumed rice and white beans, with a beautiful lemon slice sauce. Pudding was chopped kiwi fruit in a christmas style pastry cracker with passion fruit ice cream and a small piece of the most wonderful thick chocolate mousse With a bottle of Cheverny white wine and two coffees - 54€ for two people, or £46.10 at today's rate. Fantastic value.
The weekday cooking style is from the island of Réunion using 'la plancha' or cooking on a flat hot plate. I understand that the french fries are home made. I am looking forward to trying them.
