Brilliant location on main square, comfortable bedroom with en suite bathroom, lovely building beautifully restored with modern comfort - most impressed. Restaurant classy with wonderful food and professional helpful service. Highly recommended. Lovely town and chateau gardens to visit = cherry on top. Would like to return for historical festival in July!

I booked this hotel for 2 nights as it was close to the Loire chateau & vineyards, was in an area I hadn't visited before and was offering a special deal on the Logis website. My cousin was visiting from Canada and we only had a few days to spend in France The room was clean and very spacious and the evening meal was competent. Richelieu the town is amazing - and well worth a visit - I will be back! The hotel has some lovely features including an 18th century stair tower. The only blot on our horizon was the fact that the advertised free wifi didn't work. Staff lent me an ethernet cord & I was OK, but unfortunately my cousin has a Macbook Air - and was very fed-up she couldn't use her laptop at all, and had to borrow mine to check emails, etc.

i booked this hotel on the basis of a very small picture in the LOGIS directory, the act that it seems to be the only hotel in Richelieu, and its three star listing. I was not disappointed. When I phoned for a booking, the price quoted was immediately dropped when I cited a website bargain price. The room was spacious, the bed wide and comfortable, the position, albeit on the main square, very quiet. (It was an overcast Monday night in September).Staff were welcoming and good-humoured. Food was good. Dining room was fully booked. Only gripe was the decor in the dining room. The hotel is themed red, and in the dining room this extends to the wallpaper above the wainscoting, which darkens the room too much. A better option would be a light-toned figured paper in keeping with the historical ambiance. And lose the carpet (in a dining room?) for some plain oak planks.

Room Tip: Rooms at back are clearly quieter and look out on little street or inner courtyard

If you are looking for a super, unique and very high quality room, in a very pretty and unusual town, Richelieu is a lovely, quiet town, GREST market in the square which the hotel looks over on Friday morning. This hotel has it all! I will be back.

Lovely village not far from Tours & route south. We stayed in a quadrouple room for one night in August. Room was clean & spacious. Had an evening meal in the restaurant that didn't meet expected standards of the hotel. Spicy king prawns were bland & both these & accompanying barely vegetables barely warm. French diners at the next table also stated this to the manager.
Saying that, staff were pleasant, breakfast was good, setting superb. Stay here & choose one of the many nearby restaurants.

Serving food outside on the terrace is always a little bit complicated as far as bugs who can fly onto the plates and food getting colder faster.
We thank your for your note and will take more attention so it doesn't happen.

Stayed for five nights in one of the superior rooms: very nice and airy + comfortable bed. Staff were friendly and Richelieu is a good base from which to visit gardens and castles.

The hotel breakfast is poor. Each guest is given a plate with a small piece of French bread, a mini pain au chocolat, and a something which is supposed to be a croissant (see uploaded photo).

All this is left waiting on the table prior to your arrival and attracting local flies.

The French bread was dry, the pain au chocolat stale and I doubt even yesterday's. The mini croissant was laughable. Luckily, there was some sliced industrial bread for the toaster.

After two such breakfasts, the baker located almost next door was just too much of a temptation. We organized our own breakfast and didn't bother with the restaurant at all after that. What a pity to cut cost on bread and spoil the experience.

we are happy you had a nice time during your 5 nights in our hotel. Unfortunatly this is not the same about the breakfast you took only the first morning and we are really sorry for that; so this is why we are going to give you an explaination:
you are right, we put the bread, croissant and pain au chocolat on the table ready for our guests. Which is not a big difference if it was set on the buffet table with everything else (flies go everywhere even though this is an in-door restaurant). You could also have ask for more bread if you wanted to.
The bakery is coming from the one you saw next door and tempted you to go!! but yes, on that day they had a trouble with their oven and had nothing else to deliver us but what you show on your picture (one of the room would have been appreciate too).
There is also plenty of other things on the buffet for 8.50 euros.
We do hope this breakfast will not let you a bad memory of your stay.

We had Sunday lunch and Friday evening meal here during our July holiday. Both meals were lovely but from the same menu. Memorable were the Millefeuille of different tomatoes with an exquisite sorbet for a starter and Duck with a sauce flavoured with chocolate - strange I know but delicious - just a hint of chocolate. Setting is lovely on the main square.
