“A wonderful stay at this great bed and breakfast on the Loire”
Reviewed 6 July 2014 via mobile

We spent a couple of great days at La Prieure Saint Agnan. The rooms are spacious, full of character, with excellent bathrooms and top quality linens. The setting is wonderful, with a shady garden and a spotless swimming pool with tasteful loungers and garden furniture.

Breakfasts also offer far more than the usual bed and breakfast fare, with home made cakes, and a great selection of the local made goats cheeses. There is a large living room, with free tea, coffees and biscuits, which is full of local guide books and brochures. And in the evenings when we were there, the friendly owners Christine and Bernard opened up a bottle of the local Sancerre, and the guests all got a chance to meet each other.

La Prieure is the perfect place if you are visiting the vineyards of Sancerre and Pouilly Fume or just spending some time on the Loire.

Very heartfelt welcome, but never overbearing. Exeptionally nice surroundings with yard overlooking the Loire. Incredible fabulous breakfast. No detail overlooked. A must stay when visiting the area. Thank you to our hosts Christine and Bernard for a most pleasant stay.

Room Tip: All rooms are beautiful.

My Girlfriend and I stayed here after a 2 week road trip round france. What a delight it was to finish our trip here. We stayed in the room 'Clocher' and after a week travelling we couldnt have dreamed for a better room. Lovely big bed. The bathroom was sensational, in an old cellar with a lovely large spa bath, beautiful vintage double sink. We had our own entrance
Christine and Bernard were very friendly and full of advice. Christine helped us plan a trip and even booked tables for us at local restaurants she had recommended. Both of which were sensational. Breakfast each morning was left for us in our hallway so we could get it each morning without being disturbed. It was a fantastic romantic retreat and a great base to explore the region from.

We spent 3 nights here in not very pleasant weather and had a marvelous time due to the comfort of this home and the generosity of the hosts. Our room (Le Prune) was large and had a beautiful view of the Loire from the windows. The bed was king size and very comfortable. There was also a large guest lounge where our host provides tea and coffee and wine glasses too. We picnicked there a few times when we had large lunches out and wanted more of a snack for dinner. The breakfasts were generous and tasty - cheese, fruit, cereal, croissants etc - beautifully served. The house is very close to centre so we didn't use our car at all for the 3 days we were there. The hosts are warm and welcoming - a real delight.

Room Tip: We loved Le Prune but the other room we saw also looked pleasant.

We arrived with friends in our 4 classic cars for a 4 night stay to explore the Sancerre region. From the moment we arrived Christine and Bernard were welcoming, friendly and generous hosts. All the ensuite bedrooms were individually furnished, kept immaculately clean and each had fresh flowers. Breakfasts were delicious with a varied selection of fresh fruits, cheeses, breads etc. and home made jams. We could help ourselves to coffee and tea with biscuits which were always available in the lounge. Local recommended restaurants were much enjoyed. One of our cars needed a major repair and both Christine and Bernard went to considerable trouble to locate a specialised garage and to act as translator with the proprietor. What more could you wish for - nothing was too much trouble for them to make our stay so memorable.

We stayed at le prieure in the room bleu for 1 night. Had reserved le prune, but got to choose and since le bleu is a bit more quiet and the prune is just above the family's kitchen, we went for le bleu. We were happy with our choice. A nicely appointed room with a great view off the Loire.
Christine was very welcoming and provided us with plates ánd wine upstairs so we were able to have our late lunch. She also booked us a able at a very nice bistro in Cosne.
Unfortunately it was too cold to enjoy the garden. The Abbey is impressive and so is the house.
The breakfast was very good with fresh fruit and an enormous choice of homemade jams, and a great choice of different breads.
In short Christine and her family have a very nice B&B and you will feel comfortable.

This b&b is first class in every way. The hosts, the bedrooms, the position overlooking the Loire and the facilities. Christine and Bernard both speak English and are very helpful in recommending restaurants and places to visit. You need more than one nights stay here.
