“Can't wait to go back!”
Reviewed 17 June 2014 via mobile

Loved this place. Food amazing 5 star. Can get busy in the restaurant but not a problem. You will no go hungry here!

Beach was small but perfect. Always beds available but at a charge of 5 euros each and 5 for an umbrella.

Waterpark was lots of fun, not much here for the younger kids but still fun.

Hotel itself was very clean, staff very helpful. Rooms are fine, everything you need in them apart from an iron! 2 euros per day to hire from the shop at the front, and a 10 euro refundable deposit.

Corridors get very noisy at 11pm when the all inclusive runs out! No end of rude guests wouldn't dream of being a bit quieter! This wasn't really a problem for us though as we only wanted an early night once while we we there but it could be a problem if you like to be in bed early.

The area is lovely, not much there but everything you need. Very hilly though! I wouldn't recommend this hotel if you have mobility problems or a pushchair, lots of steps everywhere.

The entertainment was pretty poor, but kept the kids entertained which is all we wanted.

Overall I would rate this place as 4 star, could be 5 star with a few changes.

I don't think this is ideal for people without children as its full of kids.

Stayed at the El Greco 5th - 12th June 2014. 4 adults 2 children aged 4/7.The resort of Portinatx is beautiful. A pretty little cove with a lovely beach and clear blue water. The sea is shallow for yards and safe for young children. The rocks to the side have baby crabs so if you fancy grabbing a bucket and and a net! The resort is small with a handful of bars restaurants and hotels but we didn't get board once. The last restaurant on the hill has crazy golf. The beach has all the water sports of any normal larger resort. The place is spotless. Now for the hotel. It deserves it's 3*+ rating touching on a 4*.The hotel is spotless. The rooms (we had triples) a pretty good size with a good size bathroom.Usual extras hairdryer/t.v/phone/safe(to hire as were fridges)The staff are all very friendly from the bar to the restaurant to the maids.Facilities are good.Games for kids to play, kids club if required.Hotel at side of beach.Waterpark owned by hotel is great fun and a fab day out all free even the beds and drinks. The food was great always plenty and freshly served.Great choices even the pickiest of eaters will find something to eat.Usual entertainment programme on an evening.Only downside was pool area far too small for hotel but beach on doorstep and waterpark.Beds on beach 5 euros.Would defo return

We traveled as a couple and had a nice holiday on the island of Ibiza. Private transfer from the airport with resorthoppa via the internet an excellent service 44 euros for 2 adults return from the airport directly to the hotel El Greco in Portinax Executive Merc 9 seater blacked out windows, leather seats , air/con the works. no stops straight there in approx 40 mins ... great for family's with children - save on the hot coach journey with multiple stops.

Lovely clean room (14) with daily maid service (even on a Sunday) , sea view after we asked to be changed from the top floor room 513 with a view of the Presidente hotel - not very nice as felt we were in a goldfish bowl.

Staff were excellent especially Jackie on reception - she couldn't do enough for us and very helpful on knowledge of the island.

We ventured out to Ibiza town via local bus 3 euro each - but you can't get one back until 17:15 if you get the 11:30 from Portinax - but we made the most of the sights - harbor and yachts to die for !! how the other half live.. and a good walk up to the the cathedral via the cobbled streets and old town but the views of the city very impressive so well worth it. take your water !!

Beach and sea very clean but 5 euros for a sun lounger per person and 5 euros for an umbrella and she was still charging at 5pm !! more fool them for paying at that time ! crystal clear sea and abundance of fish - decent size ones to - great to feed with bread.

Big down side was the pool area . We didn't do our research well enough as we thought the children would be back at school at this time of year ! how wrong were we.. Midlands kids all back but Scotland , Ireland and some northern schools were off for a fortnight. We avoided the pool which was far to small for the size of the hotel and very niosy. The sunbeds were packed in next to each other like sardines and the whaft of sewage from the bars and resturants opposite wasn't my idea of a great place to chill out. Private water park good fun but again if you haven't got kids (ours are grown up ) not the best place to sit and relax.

Restaurant had busy times but after the first couple of days you know what times to avoid and we always managed to get a seat in the window overlooking the sea. Good food although a little repetitive but always something even for the fussy eaters.
Never a queue at the bar to get drinks - and bar staff very jovial and great with the children.
The all inclusive stops at 11 pm but if you want to start drinking at 9 am i'm sure you will have had enough by then. !!
The evening entertainment was ok - The outside pool bar stage was far to small and the sound system needs updating as the music kept jumping or stopping all together - performers were professional and carried on regardless.

Probably wouldn't go back to this resort as there wasn't enough to do for us as a couple, we missed out on a visit to Mambos and the up beat areas of Ibiza as the water taxis back to Portinax stop after 12 pm and taxis are expensive. But we went to chill out and get the sun - and this was 100% achieved.

Next time perhaps on the other side of the Island !!

Room Tip: ask for a top floor sea view

A really memorable holiday ... Excellent location, great facilities, comfortable rooms and good food. The sea was incredible, I do think this is the best resort in all Ibiza. Too many Italian maybe lol. Around the hotel there were are shops and tourist attractions.

Had a lovely week at the El Greco, excellent food variety, rooms are on the small size, but you are only sleeping in them, excellent staff in reception, restaurants and the bars, and of course the animation team especially Casper, Portinax is a lovely resort for families & couples, and I will go back to the hotel, and I will recommended my customers to stay here.

Room Tip: Try not to have a room overlooking the pool as this is were the entertainment is and is quite noisy.

We just got back and overall thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Portinatx is beautiful and the hotel location is lovely overlooking the beautiful bay. Food was good, plenty of variety and most of the restaurant staff were great, Our waitress whose name is Alba was very new but was very efficient and did everything with a smile. However I did notice one of the waiters who had used the gents the same time as me did not wash his hands. On a lighter note the person who made the omlettes etc looks exactly like the French actor Gerard Depardieu.
I agree that the restaurant area is cramped but you can get a table easily enough and the staff did whatever they could to help.
I notice that many reviews say the hotel is spotlessly clean, I guess that depends on your standards as although our room was cleaned everyday (as you would expect) the outside of the toilet basin and the bathroom walls were filthy when we arrived and stayed that way throughout our stay. The dust under the beds was never cleaned and it seemed that hairs arrived in our bath from somewhere. I think they must transfer mess from one room to another and maybe do not change the water often enough? Anyway we felt that the lack of good cleanliness let the room down.
We were initially given a room at the back that was overlooked so you could not open the curtains and get any privacy, but we complained and were moved to a sea view room after two days. Although we had to pay extra for this. The room itself was fine but only 2 english TV stations and one of those was sky news.
We were also surprised to find that beach/pool towels were not provided as they are in every other all inclusive we stayed in so we had to buy a couple. The shops next to the hotel are more expensive than the ones opposite the beach so we got them their. Also the safe is not free as it in in most all inclusive hotels. Add to that the fact that if you want a lounger on the beach it costs 5 euros each per day and 5 euros for a parasol per day and the cost of your holiday can increase considerably. Also beach activities, pedaloes, snorkles etc are not included as they would be in many all inclusive hotels. If you have children you will also have to pay for games inside the hotel such as pool etc.
Bar staff were very efficiant and you don't have to wait long to be served, although the hotel has a policy about not taking drinks from the hotel to the beach which is a bit harsh as they advertise the fact that they are on the beach. They need to be more relaxed about this as some hotel guests were embarassed by staff when taking a drink to the beach and it seems unreasonable to expect guests to come off the beach everytime they need a drink. Bar staff were also not willing to fill our plastic containers with water which is also very silly.
The evening entertainment was very good, the parrot act was one of the most entertaining I have seen and the Chinese acrobats were trully amazing. Of course not everyone likes the same thing, but there was something for everyone.
I would have preferred a hotel not so full of children but that is not the hotel's fault and the majority of children were very well behaved and polite. More so than many adults in fact.
So this hotel is one of many contrasts, both good and awful rooms. Staff that are good and not so good etc. But overall we had a lovely time.

Room Tip: Higher up rooms are quieter and the sea view rooms are a million times better than those at the back...

We have just returned from a brilliant holiday based in this hotel. The resort is beautiful, the beaches just brilliant for children - they are so sandy, crystal clear waters with loads of fish and so safe for young children as the water is so calm and stays at only thigh depth for some distance out. The hotel is right by the beach. There are quite a lot of steps but they are not steep and we were well aware of this when we booked. The hotel water park is for exclusive use of hotel guests so no queues to talk of (though not busiest time of year). It has plenty to keep children happy and adults though would not stay there all day. The beauty is you can pop in for an hour knowing you can go back any time. Hotel pool is quite small but we only went in briefly a couple of times as there was no need with such great beaches and water park. The rooms in the hotel are very clean with adequate space, decent size balcony and good storage space; always plenty of hot water too. The food was excellent - plenty of choice, well cooked and fresh. We had no issues with tummy upsets. They use a buffet system which can be a bit chaotic but the staff are very slick at clearing away and resetting tables. The staff in general were very friendly and accommodating. Overall we had a fantastic holiday and would certainly recommend this hotel for families, especially with younger children. I would probably not recommend it for couples seeking a quiet romantic getaway though the resort is lovely.
