“Another PERFECT 7 days at Hilltop”
Reviewed 8 July 2014

Jus got back from another perfect 7 days at HILLTOP Hotel. Now its the second year in a row when we visit this hotel and we have no complaints. Very clean, quite, very pleasant family Papaterpos. We are a family 2 adults and 2 girls and it was perfect for everyone.
If you go by car you have excellent beaches in the area where you can go with the kids.

Just booked flights to return to the hilltop in june. We've been coming to this hotel for 14 years and every year meet others that return again and again.Last year was first without thomson's but everthing ran smoothly from being picked up at the airport to being dropped off 2weeks later.
The rooms are kept spotless as are the rest of the hotel.
The pool is huge and there's never a shortage of sunbeds. We've alway's found everyone friendly and helpful from owners Bill and Chris to groundsman, waitresses and cleaner.
A five minute walk and your in the village. There is a slight hill but there is a clue in the name HillTop
Never heard of any problem with security here.

We've been to the Hilltop a few times before with Thomson's. Organising this direct was easy and flying with BA on a scheduled flight was a great start. The hotel arranged transfers and we received excellent service throughout the holiday. Bathrooms have been improved and we understand more improvements are planned over this winter. If you like a quiet pool area, we never had any problems finding space around the pool. Hanioti is a 10 minute walk and has bars, restaurants and shops making it very lively in the evenings.
If you've travelled with Thomson's before and are concerned about organising it yourself, don't be. It's easier, cheaper, quieter during the day but just as good as it always has been.
A thoroughly enjoyable holiday with friendly staff and great service. Look forward to going back again!!

Room Tip: All rooms have pool and sea views. Try and get a room on the east wing as it's cooler in the eve...

Well, we just came back from our 8 days holiday at Hill Top Hotel n Hanioti, Greece.
Yes, it`s a family hotel but the service was awful.
The owners are the most avaricious people I’ve ever met.
1. Let’s start with the restaurant!
The All Inclusive service it`s more like three free indulgently given meals, for what you should be grateful that are given to you. You are not serving yourself, there is always Sofia (7 days a week out of 7) serving you, always making sure you get the least out of every portion. By the way, she does not have a uniform and she is always uncombed and dishevelled. She comes to the hotel by bike and immediately, with the same clothes, in the restaurant, above the food, serving it to you. You can rarely avoid her in order to serve yourself. And by the way, this Sofia also cleans the tables, when yourself don`t do it, because, you are asked to use the same plate for every course you eat and clean your own table. Oh yeah...they say "please"! (WHAT???) I`m on holiday!!!! It's not my fault you don't have staff to do this services! The hours are strict, but most important, you have to come among the first in the restaurant, cause if not, the main course might not be enough and be supplied afterwards with fries. The eternal fries. I`m sorry, I didn`t tell you. They have only 4 courses a day, one of them, as I told you – fries, of course, so there are 3. From the other ones there is always meat in sauce (with so much oil), minced meat, and some side dish. You have tomato and onion salad and cabbage salad every day (lunch and dinner) and maybe one more beans salad if you are lucky. I did not say anything about breakfast….well, if you like omelette than you will have vegetable omelette, sausage omelette, cheese omelette, every single day. Also a bread fried in oil and only one type of pressed cheese and one type of ham (for sandwiches) in all you stay.
Something very bothering, we were in the land of olives, and I’ve never seen an olive in all the meals I’ve eaten!
One other thing, I`ve notice that from time to time, one of the owners, Vasilis, come and counts the people on the tables, and if it`s considered that everyone eat they start closing the restaurant, even if it’s earlier than schedule.
2. Continuing to all inclusive bar. The hotel bar starts at 11 a.m. and close on 11 p.m. You can serve glass (not draft) beer, wine (by glass also), filter coffee, sparkling juice from bottles (similar to cola, fanta and sprite) and that is it! No local drinks or cocktails, nothing. I expected to be offered an OUZO, which is the national drink, but no way.
At the bar you are served by Vicky (which I believe it’s Sofia’s sister) also uncombed and dishevelled, with no uniform whatsoever, 7 days a week out of 7. But, you must know more about Vicky! She is also serving the pool bar in the same time ( between 11.am. and 3 p.m , I think). Yup, she is 2 in one all right! And no, she does not clean up your table, nor taking your ashtray, nothing…. You have to clean it yourself. And, of course, you are asked to use the same glasses, for the environment they say… not because they are lazy and avaricious and do not hire enough staff so they can serve the costumers according to a 3 star hotel. Anyway, Vicky leaves an ~ 10 p.m.
Afterwards, Vasilis, one of the 3 owners brothers, comes to serve you. In the rest of the time you can see him on reception with his younger brother. You can easily recognise them because 4 up to 5 days, they never change their close !!! (They have the same t-shirts and pants!!! OMG !!! )
Vasilis is the most avaricious one of them all. He is counting counting how many drinks you take from the bar. One night he asked another tourist, why does she order coffee and juice in the same time? Why does she need to drink both of them? OMG again! If you go let`s say on 10.45 p.m (the bar is closing at 11 p.m.) Vasilis gives you a very bad look. It`s obvious you are bothering him and that you drunk enough (no matter if it`s juice, coffee or beer) and of course, he cautions you the bar is closing soon.
3. About the rooms….
Well by arriving, they were clean and tidy. But… of curse they have lots of requests for you in the rooms as well. Putt down the towels otherwise they won`t be changed! Really? I`ve put down 2 towels in one of the days and guess what? One of the towels was picked up and put again in the support! WHAT???
We’ve run out of toilet paper and we were sent (by Vasilis) to the first floor to take another one and replace it ourselves !!!!
With the key, You have a card for electricity in the room. When you leave it also shuts down you fridge. It shuts down everything. You cannot leave your phone to charge, you cannot leave the AC on to cool your room, nothing!
You are also asked not to bring food and drinks in the room. But room service does not exist so, why do I have the fridge??? And what if I am thirsty or hungry in the night? Reception closes on 00.00 !!!
You can also observe in the picture that I attached, that bringing any other food or drink from outside the hotel is a “Health and safety hazard” !!!! WHAT??? I’ll leave you to draw your own conclusion about this.
The rooms offers you 2 little soaps for the hole stay and nothing else. I`m surprised they did not tell me to wash the towels myself!
There were to old cleaning ladies, 7 days out of 7 so….again, avaricious owners who do not hire enough staff.
4. About the pool.
The pool boy does any other thing but taking care of the pool. One time my fiancé had to clean the pool of dead butterflies and flies in order to have a bath, because the pool boy was nowhere. Also, the sun beds that are not often used by tourist, are not ever cleaned. They are full of dust and leafs.
5. About the location.
I did not like it because it is far from the beach (20 min walk) and any way, the beach is awful in Haniotti area (3-4 meters beach width, and covered with stones). You must find other ones by taking the local bus and the collector will tell you where to get off. The collectors are very kind.
My conclusion about Hill Top hotel: Avaricious owners, sleazy owners and staff, lack of staff, poor food, bad location.
I know that what I’ve just wrote can influence many of you but I also believe it depends of everyone expectations. Surprising for me because of so many great reviews about this hotel, I was very disappointed. So if you are picky like me, I do not at all recommend you this hotel.

Just come back from another fantastic holiday at the Hill Top. Now the hotel is no longer with Thompson's you get more variety of nationalities coming to the hotel. If you are looking for a peaceful relaxing holiday this is the place to come too. It was lovely to arrive at the airport and have Bills smiling face to greet you and take you straight back to the hotel and not have to via many other resorts. Staff are as friendly and helpful as ever and cant wait to book for next year!!!!!!!!!!!

Room Tip: We like room 10 as it is at the front of the hotel and has views over the sea. Also the balcony is i...

Our 4th trip to the Hilltop was just as good, if not better than before. The facilities are excellent - and improved from last year with the upgraded bathrooms as other have mentioned - and so are the staff. All the staff are very friendly and nothing is too much trouble. No longer with Thomson so we got the 5 star treatment of a pick up and dropp off at the airport thanks to Bill. It also means there are less Brits at the hotel, which we found a bonus and more reflective of Hanioti. We will be back next year and have no hesitation recommending the Hilltop.
