As a family with young children we decided to go on an all inclusive holiday and pay a bit extra for some luxury. For the first time ever the pictures in the brochure were completely accurate, in a positive way! The hotel is large with five separate buildings housing all the bedrooms. All bedrooms have a sea view and our room was a junior suite which had a living area as well as a bedroom. The room was spacious and very clean. Every day after the daily visit from the hotel maids the room looked as immaculate as it did on the day we arrived.

The hotel staff greet you at the door and take you into a hall where you are given a welcome drink and instructions on how to get to your building and hotel protocol ie beach towel cards etc. The pool is divine and very well looked after, there is a large pool bar with drinks and ice cream on tap. The restaurant food is buffet style and you have a large variety of salads, Greek food, English food and delicious desserts. There is bound to be something you will like.

The entertainment staff were young and enthusiastic but didn't press gang you into something you didn't want to take part in. My children went to the kids club and that was also fantastic. All the staff were polite and eager to chat to you. We really didn't want to come home.

Downsides, the local village doesn't have that much to offer but you can hire a car and explore Halkidiki further if you want to. There were a few moans from people who had to wait a little while for a table at breakfast/lunch/dinner but that was only at peak times and the wait was never long.

Food very good and plentiful. Staff without exception smiling and helpful.

Surrounding area a bit down at heel (probably looked worse than normal because we stayed in the off season). Limited possibilities for walking - either turn right or left out of the hotel.

Our first room was very noisy due to proximity to a ventilation outlet but when we mentioned it we were immediately moved. The second room was better but sound transmits too easily between rooms (ladies' high heels are particular culprits). Also because it is a large site, there is intermittent noise from diesel vehicles (and a motorbike!!!) used by staff to transport stuff hither and yon.

Entertainment was not fantastic. The one live show was repeated during our stay. It was OK - no more than that. The two films were not suitable for families with children or anyone who didn't like strong language or adult content.

Having said all that we had a very relaxing holiday (the spa pool is great for a gentle swim - lovely and warm!) and could recommend it.

We were here on Honey-moon in Sept. 2008, booked by a big travel agency, Jr. Suite deluxe.
Very nice welcome with champagne, hotel very big with wonderful view, very clean, minibar filled 2 times a day, staff very helpful and open to every kind of request both in the hotel than restaurants and SPA speaking Eng, Rus, Ted and maybe some other languages too.
Very nice animation, not too much, not few, and very amazing taking care about children.
All inclusive with very big ALL.
Drink on the seaside while sunbathing (the staff came every 20/30 min taking away the old one and asking for the new), in 1 week time at the restaurant just 1 first/second dish was repeated and just once.
Wonderful place at a very acceptable price for a week of full relax.

We have just returned from a short break at the Oceania for Easter, and it was just perfect. We have been twice to Sandals resorts and RIU resorts all inclusive, so our standards were pretty high, but this resort matched perfectly the standards of these highly-rated ultra luxury chains. The staff I must admit is the best I EVER encountered on an all inclusive - they smile all the time, they are extremely friendly and try to accomodate you in every way. We were very lucky to decide not to go anywhere on Easter SUnday and stayed at the resort-they had fantastic entertainment by the Olympus pool (not the main pool - the Olympus is higher up so you have amazing views!!), there were bands, dancers, free flowing champagne, Easter snacks buffet style (and this was before the big Easter official lunch!!) and all the management and staff were there going round the guests and celebrating with us. Then, they set up a fantastic HUGE Easter Buffet lunch in the restaurant which was simply amazing, everyone dancing .... They have this amazing night club which fortunately was open for two nights for Easter - they serve really good drinks and cocktails up to 3am! Also, what is amazing re the staff is that they seem to work all the time - we saw the same people from morning to night for all the 5 days we were there, and yes they were smiling all the time! Management?? - present from morning to night every day, even after Easter, as we left a couple of days after. We also have to mention some exceptional people - Adriana (reception), Suzana (Blue Bar) Maria (restaurants) - you couldn't have gone more out of your way to please us. We also celebrated our anniversary whilst we were there, and even though the hotel was at full capacity and they were super busy, they got us like FIVE gifts in our room include cakes, fruit, champagne, etc. And at our restaurant they set up a special table with flowers, a bottle of champagne, an anniversary cake and what have you. BOTTLES of wine keep flowing at the a la carte restaurants (Sandals never serve you with bottles) and drinks and whatever you can dream of ---THANKS MARIA! Oceania, we'll be back!

Oceania is a great idea gone wrong. When my family and I checked in on the Thursday before Easter weekend, we were informed that the rate for Easter would be a full 84 euros ($113) more for Friday and Saturday than for Thursday, due to their "Easter Program." We had travelled 4 hours by car with 2 small children on a holiday weekend, and were not in a position to search for alternatives, so we checked in.

After the first night, we all complained of having the worst night's sleep of our lives. We quickly learned that the "suites" -- the largest rooms they offer -- were in no way acceptable lodging for a family (there are 2 rooms, but the 'living room' is not reasonable for sleeping in -- a fold-out, spring-filled Ottoman and a short couch with sheets on it, small even for my 7-year old.

When I went to the reception to inform them that we wanted to check out one day earlier than our orginally-planned 3 nights, I was told by a manager contacted by phone from the reception desk that the hotel policy is to keep a 90% PENALTY FEE. In other words, in exchange for our aching backs and desire to get home early, we would be offered a paltry 19.40 euros ($26) and the hotel would keep 176 euros ($238)! OUTRAGEOUS.

I travel extensively for business and pleasure and have never heard of such an absurd policy. That, and the fact that the beds are terrible, the rooms are poorly insulated (it sounded as though we had a herd of elephants above us all night and early in the mornings), and the "ultra all-inclusive" package does not include many services, such as a glass of fresh orange juice (on offer for 5 euros/$7!), the cappuchino comes from a push-button machine like you would find in a university dormitory, the wait-staff is over-worked and unable to achieve efficiency, and the high price completely ruin this otherwise idyllic setting. Our kids loved the mini club, thankfully, so there was one thing we didn't have to complain about. We returned from our 'vacation' angry, un-rested, sore and feeling robbed and ripped off. NEVER AGAIN.
