Khouriya Family Guesthouse

Again I spent a wonderful time in the Khouriya Guest House. It is becoming a sort of second home. Quality is still the same: attentive, warm hosts, very pleasant atmosphere, tasty food, and pretty good accommodation.
It is a beautiful building, can host 15 people, parking space, possibilities to make excursions with host/guide/driver Issa throughout the West Bank.
Prices are very very reasonable; price/quality rate is good.
Bear in mind that it is a family hotel, which of course has its charm as well. You are among the people... Not in a fancy business place with stiff waiters, pools and conference rooms....

I have just spent 7 days staying in Jifna with Rowda and Issa. They allowed our Group almost complete "run" of the house with accommodating to peoples tastes and individual needs throughout our stay. The house is particularly designed for Group accommodation-both large and small - with rooms and varying facilities on four floors..
Warmth and acceptance by the hosts to all the guests was first rate.
Local facilities are good and our hoses were very relaxed with our presence in their family home.

The Khouriya Family Guesthouse is a home from home. Rawda and Issa go above and beyond in their efforts to welcome guests to Palestine. I stayed with the family for nine weeks and my boyfriend joined me for two weeks. The beautiful house overlooks the historic village of Jifna, which in itself, can cater for all your needs, with local shops and restaurants. With frequent public transport from the village, you can be in Ramallah in less than 15 minutes, from where you can continue your journey to other areas in the West Bank.
Rawda and Issa invite guests to learn about and engage with Palestinian life and culture, with optional tours which I would highly recommend. They supported me with my work, putting me in contact with organisations and helping me to find my way around. The highlight of my stay at the guesthouse was a marriage proposal from my boyfriend and a Jifna style engagement party with all of the women from the village church committee. They all made it such a joyous occasion with traditional Palestinian dance, food and celebrations. The Khouriya family and the village have become family and I look forward to many more visits.

This is a great place to stay when visiting the West Bank/Palestine (depending on your politics). The family provides more than a room for your visit. They are anxious to help visitors with suggestions and Issa can be hired as a tour guide.
The town is small and the house is a walk up a steep hill, but on our arrival Issa surprised us by meeting us at the shared taxi stand. Inexpensive shared taxi's regularly run to Remallah. We took the taxi to Remallah and where we took day trips to Bethlehem and Jericho.
The house itself is very nice and clean. Breakfast is a nice selection of traditional foods. Depending on the season, you might get to enjoy some of the fresh fruit from the trees around the house. While we were there, we enjoyed the grapes right off the vine. We stayed in a room with a private entry that could sleep three or four people. It has a shower and kitchen facilities. Other rooms in the house allow groups to take advantage of the R&B.
This was my first visit to the west Bank and staying there was a great decision.

I don't think there are many places to stay in Ramallah and this guesthouse is a good option. It's a clean house and the owner is friendly and makes a lovely breakfast.
The guesthouse is not in the centre of Ramallah so you need a car or bus to get there.
You do feel very much like you're staying in someone's house, which may not suit everyone.

Issa and Rawda were very welcoming of us into their home. Their home is beautiful and the village of Jifna is lovely, quiet and friendly with some really good restaurants. We did two full days of touring with Issa who was very accommodating in organising tours for us. We were specific about what we wanted to see including the refugee camps, the wall and other areas associated with the occupation. Issa was very understanding and really wanted to help show us the situation in palestine. The room we stayed in had its own entrance, it was private, clean and well equipped. We would recommend trying to make tours with other people in the house to cut down on costs and the charge per kilometre not per guest. We would recommend trying Rawda's cooking one night and the other nights try the local restaurants. The Taybeh beer brewed in this families home village is delicious. Issa also took us to Nablus where we ate a sweet treat with cheese - a cullinary highlight. The second day we went to Hebron which we would highly recommend as it was insightful and Issa linked us up with some organisations and people to speak with about the situation there. We will come back one day we hope!

We stayed here for 4 nights and Rawda was an amazing host. It was fascinating being in the West Bank and Jifna is a great area to stay - quiet and safe. A car would be useful, but we didn't have one and we managed to use the taxi service and buses every day to go to Jerusalem and around the West Bank. Breakfasts are amazing and it's just a great place to come home to every night. We would absolutely stay there again if we went back to the West Bank and we're going to recommend it to everyone. Thanks Rawda!
