“Friendly local crowd”
Reviewed 29 June 2014

We sailed into Portsmouth and ventured to Champs after seeing it mentioned in the cruising guide. We called the restaurant and they sent a driver to the dock in town to pick us up. It was Taco and Trivia night, and we had a very inexpensive meal of tacos: fish, chicken and beef. The medical students from nearby Ross University had written the trivia questions, and one student joined our team to help us answer the questions specific to the University. The owner made us feel very welcome as visitors. I would like to return earlier in the evening to enjoy the sunset as the restaurant has a lovely view overlooking Prince Rupert Bay.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for your great review. We are happy to know that you enjoyed your Taco Trivia here with us at The Champs.

Being with us earlier in the afternoons would be the best choice to make, as you would get to relax and dine with us at sunset.

We do have different activities every evening and we would be happy if you would visit again to enjoy some of our other weekly activities.

Kind Regards,
Lise

“Great Stone Oven Pizza!!”
Reviewed 28 June 2014

The Champs has just started offering stone oven pizza on Saturdays and it is fantastic! Well worth the trip to Picard from any place on the island.

The fresh ingredients add to the wonderful flavour of the stone-oven crust. A nice selection of wine, good atmosphere and gorgeous sunset views of Prince Rupert Bay make The Champs a must-stop for a Saturday trip to Portsmouth!

“Beautiful view, fun atmosphere!”
Reviewed 15 April 2014

The restaurant looks out onto the Caribbean sea from quite a height, and is worth every step! Although, you can avoid this by waiting at the bottom of the hill for the Champs driver who has a white truck that can carry a dozen or so people up the hill at once.

The wings are good, and taco night (Thursday) is great, but the bean burger is BY FAR the best thing I've ever had there. Try that, and the Flaming Dr. Pepper, and you're in for a good night :)

I can't say enough about The Champs. Lise and Hans are so wonderful, and the staff is great. This was my second trip to Dominica. And I could not wait to return to The Champs. The atmosphere and view is like no other. Once you see that sunset, youll be back again and again. You must try Fine Dining Friday nights and the brunch on Saturdays.Eric"the Chef" is amazing. His food and Tarnita's cocktails will have you returning for sure.

“Breakfast on the Veranda”
Reviewed 2 April 2014

When I want to go to my Zen Place all I do is close my eyes and picture myself having breakfast on the Veranda at DeChamps. The view of Prince Ruppert Bay below is stunning while watching all the brightly colored fishermen's boat scurring about as the harbor comes to life every morning. Little finches will visit you during breakfast and if your lucky the Iguana in the Flamboyuant tree will be sunning himself in the gentle morning breeze. The ambiance doesn't get much better until the beautiful Rhasta woman who goes by the name of Manueala brings you freshly squeezed juice and big smile that is so kind and gentle that it just says....Welcome to Dominica. She will cook anything you want for breakfast from wholesome food from the island. She makes a Rhasta coconut crawfish sauce that I will crave to my dying day. If you want some good memories of Carib dining experience, then breakfast on the Veranda at DeChamps is what you're looking for.
