“Welcoming place and well presented, appetising food”
Reviewed 9 May 2014

I had a fantastic meal at thi restaurant, even more as it was totally unexpected.
Lovely venue, very inconspicuous, they make you feel welcome the minute you step in and you get immersed in the atmosphere.
Great service to lovely appetising food.

“revisiting Winships was a happy experience”
Reviewed 7 May 2014

It's a couple of years since we've dined at Winships, which we always rated as consistently good and we weren't disappointed this time either. The food was splendid, 4 of us had different dishes and everyone agreed they were great, the plates were scraped clean!

“Great dinner!”
Reviewed 6 May 2014

I had a wonderful chicken dish that had a great sauce. My wife ordered the gammon and eggs and got a dish she didn't expect -- but all the food was good. They sat us upstairs and we were the only couple up there. Kind of weird!

“Lovely meal”
Reviewed 22 April 2014

So much better since Norman has taken over and has control over not only the menu quality but the decor will def be back after a long absence.

“Very disappointing restaurant with poor service.”
Reviewed 2 March 2014

We'd heard good things about this restaurant so tried it for a special birthday. There was nowhere to sit in bar area to have drinks before dinner so had to go straight to the table. The dining area has no atmosphere - 1970's décor with very bright halogen lights. Menu is meat dominated which is OK but too many dishes you had to pay extra for which is off-putting especially when it's a set meal for a (quite hefty) set price for 2 or 3 courses. We'd been at our table for 90 minutes and had only had a starter. The waiting staff ignored us - they obviously knew there was a problem but did everything to avoid eye contact with us. Why can't waiting staff just apologise for any delay - it would have made all the difference? When the main courses finally arrived they were good apart from the dried-out pheasant dish. We didn't stop for dessert or coffee as our patience had run out. We won't be back and would not recommend. If only the waiting staff had explained and apologised for the long wait for our food we would not have had such a bad opinion of the place.
