“Great Car Museum”
Reviewed 8 August 2013

Mostly European cars and a few American, from pre 1900 up to today. Worth the trip to the coast. Just as good as many car museums I have visited in the United States.

“Great cars and motorcycles but too pricy and "passive" experience”
Reviewed 1 August 2013

My wife and I decided to visit Autoseum in Simrishamn because we both like cars, historic cars and also to get educated and also because I am driving an Italian supercar but I am not overwhelmed by the experience at Autoseum because it is just a too "passive" experience for me. You can enjoy many cars and motorcycles but nothing else interesting is happening. Also the experience is too pricy (100 Swedish Crowns per person) for what you get (even if you get a free cup of coffee). I am ok to pay but not more than what it is worth and in this case it is just not worth the effort and money. I think 50 Swedish Crowns would be more ok and for me you can exclude the free coffee.

Some suggestions for the Autoseum team: why not have a daily happening where you start up the 18 cylinder engine or maybe a very old car so that you as a visitor could experience it for real so to speak and maybe also add a guided tour. Another suggestion would be to make the signs more interactive with for example touch screens so that visitors for example could listen to the sound of the engine of that particular car and maybe have photos of the interior of the car and maybe the history of that particular car.

The foundation (cars, motorcycles, ..) of Autoseum is good but poorly managed and really no creativity to foster those fantastic assets.

“nice collection of beautiful vintage cars”
Reviewed 30 July 2013

a great collection including Mercedes-Benz, Ferrari, RR, Volvo, MG and much more. Also a good shop with car models for the collector (and some for playing). Overall a nice visit.

“Autoseum”
Reviewed 1 June 2013

This is a wonderful step back in time. All kinds of cars from the last 150 years or more. This was also a wonderful museum to see the history of Harley Davidson Motorcycles. Being my father is a car buff and it is certainly fun to see old cars of many different makes and models, it is definitely a stop to be made in Simrishamn.

“a wonderful surprise in a surprising location”
Reviewed 19 May 2013

Simrishamn is a small fishing town that gears itself up for tourists in the summer but I had not expected to find such an interesting piece of motoring history on display in a town like this. Over 200 vehicles (cars, including a Rolls Royce once owned by Zsa Zsa Gabor, the odd horse-drawn carriage, light vans, fire trucks, motor cycles, racing cars and more) are well displayed in a purpose-built 'hangar' in a rather unprepossessing industrial area not far from the railway station. It is easy to find; look for a SAAB J35 Draken fighter aircraft is parked by the gate. There is ample free parking.
The couple of hours I spent ambling around, as you generally do in places like this, whizzed by. Some of the English descriptions raise a smile, have been directly translated from the Swedish, but everything you need to know is there.
There is a shop and an interesting display of vintage model aircraft that will take anyone of a certain age back to the days of KielKraft, Frog diesels and Jetex motors.

The toilets and other facilities are spotless as one would expect in Sweden. The restaurant is licensed to sell alcohol, although is does have a limited menu.
Coffee or a soft drink is included in the ticket price of 100SEK (£10)

Staff were friendly and helpful, with the language skills that all Scandinavians possess.
Check out the web site www.autoseum.se - it seems to be only in Swedish - but the inventory of vehicles is at http://www.autoseum.se/fordon_index.html

And finally, I think this museum will appeal not only to the more serious aficionado but to families with only a passing interest in motoring history as well as . If you're in Southern Sweden it's well worth visiting, and when you've done take a stroll through the old parts of Simrishamn and have lunch or dinner down by the harbour.
