“Perfect escape”
Reviewed 8 June 2017 for a stay in June 2017

I booked this house for a hen weekend and it was perfect. Lovely setting and wonderful garden. We had everything we needed and the owner was most welcoming. I would definitely recommend for a large group or family getaway.

We had a fabulous stay in the Old School House for my mothers 60th birthday. Sally was so helpful prior to our arrival, providing us with information about the property. The house was immaculate, clean and cosy when we arrived. It was the perfect venue to host our group. Overall a lovely property in a beautiful location. We will not hesitate to recommend to others.

“Perfect Cotswold getaway”
Reviewed 23 June 2016 for a stay in June 2016

What a lovely, well equipped cottage! I've stayed in a number of cottages in the Cotswolds and this was one of the best. The place is large, well equipped and homely.

Each room had gorgeous conran bedding and the beds were super comfortable. The newly installed shower room was great and handy for the 11 girls staying. We had a wonderful stay. The garden is gorgeous with a fantastic large BBQ. Parking very easy to fit 5 cars in. Lounge was perfect for socialising and relaxin. House is away from neighbours so didn't feel guilty for laughing our heads off into the early hours!

The only improvements I could recommend would be a separate WC from the bathrooms as it proved difficult in the morning when people were washing should you need the toilet!

Thanks for a wonderful getaway!

“Not the best,but very good.”
Reviewed 17 December 2014 for a stay in November 2014

This is the 5th occasion that I have booked a large house for an extended Family get together. So by now we have a good idea of what we require.we are a party of eleven, six adults and five children.we enjoy the Cotswolds,as there are plenty of places of interest and enough to keep us all occupied. The Old School house is a charming property with enough room to accommodate us all.A small tv in addition to the mail screen would have been handy,as with 5 children,I could not watch anything until after bed time.We were Imformed that there were only 2 bathrooms and no showers, this was inconvenient, but surprisingly enough we seemed to work around it.We were there in November and needed heating, the system had a mind of its own and we could never get it to work properly the whole time we were there. The notes scattered around the the house were a bit childish,I think it would have been better if someone had met us and explained what was required, and then a reference book made available for reference. All taken into consideration we all enjoyed ourselves, the location is excellent ,with a pub within walking distance that serves excellent food with a very accommodating landlord.would we stay there again,Yes we would,if the few little niggles had been sorted out prior to our visit.

“Perfect Cottage for the Perfect Getaway!”
Reviewed 16 December 2014 for a stay in December 2014

On driving up to the cottage you pass the most beautiful village of Stow on the Wold and carry on down into a quaint but well located smaller village that houses the Old School House. I found the cottage without much issue even though this is on an unnamed road but the postcode is exactly right. We were greeted by a beautifully spotless house with many a festive decoration and bottles of wine to set off the evening. I awaited the arrival of my friends and allocated bedrooms. I would say that with 11 girls with long hair the lack of a shower is evident but this is a beautiful old cottage with roll top baths which by far outweighs the issue. Excellent location for a country walk into Stow to the local shops and pubs, we visited one of the local jaunts for dinner which was fantastic. I would thoroughly recommend this cottage for anyone wanting a bit of peace and quiet (with a coffee shop and a wine stop not too far away!). Thanks again to Sally & Co for making sure our stay was perfect and for returning my forgotten coat! I will definitely be recommending this to my friends and family.

“Great for a long weekend”
Reviewed 29 November 2014 for a stay in November 2014

Spent a long weekend at the Old School House catching up with old friends and celebrating my birthday. The cottage is lovely-the kitchen has a large table great for everyone to gather round and there is amble space in the lounge. The log fire was an added bonus for evenings by the fire with a glass of wine or two. Easy walk to local pubs and just over a mule into stow. Would definitely recommend this place!

“Style over substance”
Reviewed 25 January 2014 for a stay in January 2014

On the face of it, this is a beautiful property and very luxurious with Conran bedding and denny china.

The location is perfect, nice and peaceful with beautiful outside space and ample parking. Lots of toys for the kids and a great selection of DVDs and books. We also really appreciated the wine and logs left for our arrival.

However a few details let the whole place down. The most significant problem was with the beds - all of us found them to be very uncomfortable, and size of the pillows were far too large for the small beds.

There are two bathrooms and no shower. This was fine, as we were aware of this, however getting everyone bathed in morning was impossible as the water took so long to heat up between baths.

Whilst we appreciated the importance of them, we found the number of notes and instructions around the property to be patronising, maybe it would be better if all these 'house rules' were included in one manual.

Finally the oven had not been cleaned properly, as the fumes from a previous guest spilt oil was almost toxic and required all doors and windows to be open whilst cooking.

All in all a very lovely place and we found all the people we dealt with in booking the property to be very helpful and friendly. However, we felt that the finer details would need to be taken care of before we would consider returning.
