“Brilliant weekend”
Reviewed 28 August 2014

Just returned home from our "Party in the Park" 5 days at Cricket St Thomas. The entertainment team (Steve, Robyn, James I, Charlotte, Lauren and James II), were brilliant and their shows were very professional. The Hamiltones too, were great with a brilliant singer (sorry can't remember her name). The bank holiday entertainment was great, with visits from Union Gap, Everly Brothers tribute, Freddie Mercury tribute, Rod Stewart tribute and Whitney Houston tribute. Luckily the weather was kind to us, for the party in the park, an outdoor event with a bar, bbq and games. As usual the food was great, and very well presented, our room was good and in a lovely location overlooking the park. Looking forward to returning to Cricket St Thomas in May next year to see Billy Ocean and his band (who we saw at Sinah Warren last year and he was brilliant).

Had a five day holiday here and thoroughly enjoyed the house and grounds. We stayed in the historic suite which was clean and comfortable - so spacious! All staff we met or spoke to were helpful and friendly. Enjoyed all the food and plenty of variety too. Really enjoyed the entertainment during the evenings and also daytime activities were varied. Particularly enjoyed the archery. We most certainly would recommend to friends and want to return soon.

Spent a delightful week at Cricket St Thomas with my husband and elderly father. We all enjoyed the food and the entertainment. The staff were excellent, all extremely friendly and helpful. The setting was delightful, beautiful grounds to walk around or sit and enjoy the view. Loads to do or simply absorb the peace and quiet. Would definItely go again. Loved it.

Room Tip: We had ground floor rooms with a patio in the courtyard, attached to the main house, which suited us...

This is our third visit to Cricket St Thomas.
The check in procedure needs some organising as had to wait 20 minutes for 2 disorganised females to establish what they were doing.
The room was as we expected although it could have done with sprucing up - net curtain dirty & bedroom carpet grubby.
The entertainment team were very good & as always Neil Graham was brilliant.
The service in the restaurant was generally good although on occasions there was a delay. We were given a table in an accessible area for both of us.
However we would of liked to have been given a choice of which restaurant we could dine in.
The leisure facilities were improved from our last visit, although sadly the small steam train that used 2 run through the grounds has been discontinued as that used to run through some lovely scenery.

Just got back from our second visit to Cricket St Thomas. The Historic check in was a bit of a fiasco. We arrived just before 12.00 for a 12.00 o'clock check in, but there was nobody there. Just after 12 o'clock I told my wife to go and sort out the Charge card and check seating in the restaurant. About 12.20. a lady turned up to do Historic check in. She said nobody phoned her! It appeared that Betty the regular lady was on holiday. When my wife got back, she said the Signature etc were already checking in. Why pay a nice premium for Historic earlier check in when you can check in at the same time for other levels. After the false start at check in everything else went to plan.
It was nice to see they had removed the Stage extension out of the way for dancing. Well done the entertainment team for that. I did pass a comment last visit about that. Whilst on the Entertainment Team subject, They did put on great entertainment each night of our stay. That's the great thing with Warner's. They are always friendly and helpful. The food was up to their usual high standard, a bit of White Fish wouldn't go amiss or a Curry bar perhaps.
Another thing to sort out! We go to Warner's for the Ballroom and Sequence dancing. there was plenty of this in the evening. Problem is the daytime session was at 12.30. We were the only couple to turn up, everybody else was at lunch I imagine. I just hope their not trying to push it to the back burner for lack of support. Most venues have this mid afternoon.
The gardens are really lovely at Cricket. Shame the little Narrow Gauge Railway has disappeared. They are in the middle of taking all the track away. It was also great to see we didn't have too many Multi Media quizzes in the evening. Well done Cricket.
The Historic room "The Lord Nelson" was always clean, the housekeeper done a good job every day (Unsung Heroes) The resident band The Hamiltones put on a good show each night with a good mix of Dance genres.
I'll be glad to go back in the future. Got Alvaston Hall, Thorseby Hall and Holme Lacey to visit before that. All in all a good holiday.

Have been to Warner several times but first time at Cricket. Had a contemporary royale room which was large and comfortable but found on arrival that the taps were very grubby and the glasses still had water in and half empty bottles, not the usual standard at Warner.
However as per usual the staff were great as was the in-house entertainment.
The Bee Gees tribute were a bit of a let down. Tank Sherman the comedian on the Friday night was good but the one on Sunday was embarrassing and uncomfortable to watch and there was a mass exodus. Felt quite sorry for him actually, he was dying on his feet.
The best part of the weekend was Neil Graham who is a late night entertainer with a wickedly dry sense of humour and a great voice. He was on in the main house on the Saturday so was more than happy to leave the Bee Gees to watch Neil.
Considering what an expensive long weekend it was it was somewhat disappointing. The walk from the walled garden was long and we were probably one of the younger guests there and it was a trek. We found out on the last day that there is in fact a restaurant in the walled garden where we could have eaten. Shame we weren't told about this.
Having said all this I still love Warner but will be returning to my favourite which is Littlecote house.

Room Tip: If you can afford it go for the main house
