“Good hotel with real pride in service”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 February 2013

The Lordleaze is a good 3* hotel and (having looked at the negative reviews) all the better for not pretending to be anything else. It is very comfortable, warm and welcoming. The room we had was well equipped and real effort had been made with presentation and attention to detail. The breakfast was excellent. We ate dinner there for one night of our stay. The menu is not imaginative but I suspect they know their market and in a small hotel it's entirely reasonable to serve a limited menu. They clearly source good quality ingredients. The steak was very good and the crackling on my pork as good as I have had anywhere. Veg crisp, mash excellent. The wine list was really rather good, small but full of clever and good value choices. The service throughout was excellent, the staff are competent, friendly and genuinely want you to enjoy your stay. It's not a boutique hotel, which is why we were able to afford it, and my Dash sweatshirt felt right at home! We had a romantic and restful stay stay.

We stayed at the hotel for a couple of nights on a special deal, but even the usual price it's worth the money. 18th century building with lots of character and although on the edge of Chard a very country feel. The staff were all very welcoming and there was adequate parking. A small hotel but lots of atmosphere. The room was lovely and spacious, clean and light and airy with a comfy bed and very good shower. There is a bath for those of you like me, who enjoy a hot soak after a day sightseeing. Dinner was lovely and the breakfast really filling and lots of it. Nearby are plenty of places to visit, we enjoyed Beer, Seaton and Lyme Regis. Lots to see and do and 3 counties Somerset, Devon and Dorset within about a 10 mile radius.

Our stay was made even better with a Deal Cloud voucher but we would certainly recommend Lordleaze even without any discounts! Really nice food, nice beers, very comfy rooms and relaxed bar areas. Will definitely go back at some point.

My husband & I recently stayed at The Lordleaze Hotel using a groupon voucher. The deal proved to be of tremendous value for money & we certainly enjoyed our stay. Included in the deal was the first night's meal with wine, & because we enjoyed it so much we opted to book for the second night. The bedroom was very comfortable & clean. Our only concern was that we werte too warm, even with the window wide open. Our breakfast was beautifully cooked. Our only critism was the wait for the breakfast. I had to be at Riverside Cottage for a cookery course at 9.30 & it was a rush to be away for 9.am
We would certainly recommend the Hotel if you were staying in the area for a leisurely break

Very pleased that you enjoyed yourselves with us - the heating is on in the winter but the radiators all have their own thermostat to turn them off or down! Looking in to any slow breakfast service - this is not the norm .. and we will endeavour to prevent it. Thank you again and we hope to see you again.

just spent a weekend away at the Lordleaze Hotel, it is a lovely family run country hotel. Our room was light and airy and spotlessly clean. The hotel was originally a farmhouse and it has retained the country farmhouse atmosphere throughout. The bar was cosy with a lovely warm fire .Breakfast was served in the conservatory and the food was excellent, from the choice of cereals( the local dorset meusli was delicious ), the fresh fruit salad - one of my favorites and the freshly cooked full breakfast and toast. All the staff were friendly and attentive. We thoroughly enjoyed our relaxing weekend away.

We had a short break ( 2 nights ) here & were really pleasantly surprised. It is approached through a large housing estate which made us wonder what it was going to be like! However, any concerns we had were very quickly dispelled the minute we walked in. It was everything we could have hoped for & more. All areas were comfortable, spotlessly clean, warm & inviting, made even better by the friendly efficient staff. The weather was bad on our 1st evening so we decided to eat there. What a great decision, the food & service was excellent, so much so there was no question about where to eat on the 2nd night! We have already recommended it to friends & family & hope to return ourselves.

S booked this for my birthday. The family run hotel was very welcoming and cosy. We arrived and checked in early, so no hanging around. An olde world feel to the building but not dated. I dont have a negative thing to say. Our daughter made an impreession on the staff i'm sure.
The beer was well kept, as was the wine devine. The food very enjoyable. The bedroom was clean and warm, the bed, well too comfy, we didn't want to get out! The pillows plump. The bathroom was very clean and the shower hot and powerful. We only stayed for a night but are sure to return. If you like the personal touch this is place to stay, no big brand monotomy here.
