An old hotel that is used to having overnight guests in the style that was acceptable 40 years ago. It’s basically a bar that doubles as the towns disco at weekends. No restaurant but bar snacks. Many rooms without en suite sharing one shower room and toilet. Would be best to search on and pay a bit more elsewhere. Clean but very basic.

Echoing Kate M's review, this pub becomes a nightclub on a weekend which closes at 3am.
Our room was 1st floor, facing the street, abive the front of the pub.
Couldn't really hear the music, but the window I'd directly above where the smokers congregate, and where people hang around at chucking out time. So about 20 people directly outside the single glazed window, very loud til about 3.30am. Sleep is impossible - which is the main purpose of a hotel room.

Add to that really thin curtains that do not block any sunlight. Got maybe 3 hours sleep.

Staff please try enough, room old fashioned but ok except for the shower, which had such low water pressure as to be unusable.

Breakfast of fatty bacon, cheap sausages, one fried egg and beans.

Bit of a nightmare really.

I have given this hotel a one rating purely based on price! You get what you pay for, plus the added bonus of nightclub entertainment until 3.30am! Room was basic but clean, breakfast nothing special, but we’ve had worse! Drove down 5 hours for a family party, unfortunately everywhere was booked so we had 2 rooms, 2 adults and 3 children. I wish they had warned us about the nightclub though. My youngest (7) and I shared the double, which was the far superior room, but under our unglazed window was the nightclub and smokers area. I finally got to sleep around 4am after the nightclub cleared, to be woken up again at 7am by 2 ladies, who i think we’re possibly cleaners, squarking and having a cigarette again outside my window. The staff were pleasant, but we certainly won’t be recommending or staying again. Sleeping in my car would have been preferable!

We had food there recently and the owner is rude with poor customer service as when he brings cutlery and condiments he dumps them on the table without a word, then when the food arrives he just puts them on the table and we did not have a single word from the owner, food was hot and tasty and plates took over half an hour to clear. In general most of the staff there have poor service skills.

The hotel was really value for money, excellent staff, great breakfast and despite being a pub the room was very quiet. Only one bad point- beds were far from comfortable, new mattresses needed perhaps?
