“Nice park but restaurants are a huge ripoff”
Reviewed 8 April 2014

I have been here for four years now and I must say that the Mactan Shrine is a nice attraction and should be visited but do yourself a favor and DO Not eat at the restaurants there. I had lunch there with a friend two weeks ago at a place called Sutukil Resto. No prices posted on their outside menu. That shoud have have been a clue. I ordered grill Lapu Lapu, my friend ordered calamari, we shared an order of chop suey and both had one order of regular rice and soft drinks. The total? I was expecting around 700p... After eating we asked the bill.... 1800p.... hahaha a 1 Star resto charging 5 star resto prices. Honestly, I have eaten cheaper at Marco Polo!! A complete tourist trap and should be avoided like the plague. The place had no airconditioning, plenty of nasty flies and horrible smells from the ocean. So, come enjoy the Shrine but leave your appetite and your wallet at home!

“Accessible place!”
Reviewed 18 March 2014

There's not much to be seen but the statue of Lapu Lapu and the Magellan shrine, the historical site of the battle between the two important figures of Philippine history. It's a strolling park cum garden complete with souvenir shops nearby. I supposed, it is the cheapest in CEBU for souvenirs. The mangrove nearby if developed better will be an added feature that will further boost tourism i assumed. There are also SUTUKIL restos around to choose from if you want to feast on seafoods but the price is high and the ambience is very ordinary. This place is accessible and easy to reach, just a multicab ride.

“Well-maintained, very historic”
Reviewed 20 February 2014

You can see that the paintings at the ceiling are well-maintained. Very informative. Scriptures can be read about their piece of the Philippine history.

“Night Stroll at the Shrine”
Reviewed 6 January 2014

I haven't experience to stroll here during the day but night time is the best! Less crowd and no heat of the sun... just cool sea breeze. Entrance is free but we paid 10 pesos for the parking fee. Captured photos are also amazing at night since the park is studded with lights, thus at the same time, it feels safe to stroll because it's not too dark. Although, just prepare yourself as there are a lot of dating young couples around.. they are almost in all the dark corners in the park either cuddling, kissing or simply having a very serious lover's talk. The park also have a souvenir stores where you can buy Cebu City keychains for as low as 10 pesos or 6 pieces for 50 pesos. Over all, truly a place to visit!

“Lapu-Lapu”
Reviewed 2 January 2014

The shrine of Lapu-Lapu, the soldier famed for killing Magellan, is an awesome place to visit. Every trip I make to Cebu is not complete without visiting. There is a small little area you can walk around. You can even walk out on the water; it can be very romantic. If you come during the low tide, the water will be gone and you can walk out. They have done a great job making it pretty.

Inside the gates, you can find a row of vendors with probably the cheapest little pasalubong items from bracelets to frog purses, mango to jewelry, and decor to hand-made guitars. Don't forget to haggle the price down!
