“Nice Friendly Hotel”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 September 2013

Stayed at the Hotel Torremar for only 2 nights but i would say it is more a 3 star than a 4 star hotel. Our room was basic with twin beds but no table or chairs in the room but there was a table and chairs on the terrace. The location is good in the centre of Torre Del Mar and just 2 minutes to the beach. The staff on the reception were helpfull and friendly and on the roof was 2 Jacuzzi pools. The buffet breakfast was basic but ample.

If you want Spain this hotel and Torre del Mar have it all. I spent 4 nights here and was very impressed by the hotel.
Right in the centre and 2 mins walk from the beach. The staff are friendly and helpful. The room I had was enormous and nicely appointed and had a sun terrace with table and chairs and 2 sun loungers.
I had a quiet room on the side. I imagine in the lower front rooms there may be a little bit of noise from the great bar opposite. But your on your holidays so don't have an early night and go across to " El Yate" and get some tapas instead!
The hotel doesn't have a pool but the sun deck on the roof is nice and has 2 jacuzzis. If you want a swim then the med is 2 mins walk. There is no parking at the hotel but again I got parked on the beach road with no problem every time.
Torre is great and has a good feel. No Brit lager louts but mainly Spanish families its great to people watch.
If you turn left out the hotel and left up the main pedestrian walkway I can recommend the "Negri" seafood restaurant and up on the main road the panaderia " Di Carlo" does great cakes, tostado con tomate and coffee.
Great hotel and great town.

I traveled here in the summer of 2012 with my boyfriend. LOCATION: The hotel is right by the beach! (One minute walking). It's location is great, there are shops and a long boardwalk. There are endless restaurants and ice cream parlors around the hotel! There are also clothing stores that are very nice and cheap! (Make sure you go before or after siesta time!!!) Also, on some days of the week, these store-tents open up on the boardwalk by the beach and sell jewelry, etc. Some really beautiful jewelry is sold there and it was nice to go out at night and walk there and check it out. There is also a shopping mall in walking distance from the hotel! (It was about 10-20minutes, Don't really remember). The mall was nice and had various stores and places to eat. Torre Del Mar is also 30-40minutes away by bus from Nerja which is beautiful! I recommend going on tours over there, since it is more touristy and much more to do! ALSO the buses are a bit of a walk from the hotel! Make sure you know where you are going, it is very easy for you to get lost. We took a bus from the airport to Torre Del Mar and then walked to the hotel. I recommend taking the buses in Spain because they are very reliable!
THE HOTEL: Overall, the hotel was clean and the staff was very friendly! Most of the staff spoke English and if they didn't they tried to communicate with me. The lobby is nice and has a lot of seating. If I remember correctly, it is the only place in the hotel to get WIFI. Our room was clean everyday and always got new towels if you put your used ones in the bathtub. Our room (and I think every room) came with a balcony which was very nice! We were on the top floor and faced the water. Though there was a building right in front of us, you could still see a little piece of the ocean and it was beautiful! Plus the rooms do have AC!
On the roof of the hotel there are two hot tubs! These are clean and nice. My one problem with this was that there was no pool. Spain gets very hot in the summer and a hot tub doesn't make too much sense. Though, it was nice because we were in there everyday and the view of the mountains behind the hotel are beautiful!!! BUT if you would like to use the hot tub, you have to sign up on a piece of paper and you have only 20minutes to use it. This is because of health reasons. Though you can sign up for multiples times during the day.
BUFFET/FOOD: We signed up for a breakfast and dinner buffet everyday. The first day we arrived I was super excited to eat dinner because I had heard such good reviews about it! Unfortunately, it did not "live up to" my great expectations, it was still pretty good! Though, it was nothing to rave about. For breakfast, it was mostly the same everyday and there was a coffee and tea machine (very modern and nice). Dinner had most of the same foods everyday too expect a few main dishes that always changed. Every night was a different food theme, though some of the themes didn't make sense with the food they served. The staff was great and cleaned your table right away! Dessert was repetitive too. Some fruits and some desserts changed. The fruit was fresh and the vanilla pudding was good! The ice cream was nothing special (but remember, there are great ice cream parlors right outside of the hotel!)

Overall, this is a good hotel for couples! I would not recommend family with children because there is no pool and or any children's activity BESIDES a wii that is in the second lobby area. I enjoyed my stay and loved the fact that the beach was right there!

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the highest floor! At night it is very noisy unless your air conditioning covers i...

We stayed here for five nights at the beginning of February 2013. We have stayed a couple of times before just the two of us but this time we had our 3 year old granddaughter with us, the staff as usual were very helpful and friendly. The room was excellent with two bedrooms but we could keep it secure so as to look after the granddaughter. Breakfast was good, a well mixed buffet. The hotel is well situated close to the beach and town. It's a great and safe place to tire out active children with lots of play areas.

Room Tip: We had room 221 which is great if you have a child/children

Arrived at hotel late (after dinner ) the lovely receptionist was very helpful and had saved us a salad which was very unexpected. The room was fine, clean and warm.
It was a shame the the hotel was very under occupied. as the food adequate and we had a christmas dinner on christmas eve, the restaurant was full with both english and spanish which was great to get the feel for the spanish take on the festival. We had four courses with both wine and cava followed by dancing!
The location was fantastic, very close to the beach and shops it was a short walk to the bus station which we used on numerous occaisions. great Connections with All the obvious resorts along the costa del sol.
The down side was not the hotels fault, however we found most of the other guests were a lot older than us and did not need an excuse to moan about the food etc.

The only down side which didnt spoil our time in the hotel was the fact the hottubs were not switched on.We did email in advanced requesting the hottubs be put on as we especially chose this hotel for this option, but had no reply and they were not acessable which was a shame. This was probably due to the climate differences as 68'f is summer to us but deep winter to them.

We would recommend it to others but probably 60 years +

Dear Guest,
Thanks for letting us and other guest know your opinion about our Hotel.
I am really happy that you hade a nice time on Christmas Eve.
And sorry for the missunderstanding with the Hot Tubs. We use to switch them off from November-February, because even when it can be sunny, the fact that they are on the outside makes it difficult to be used. I had no news about your email requesting that service, but whenever you came back I will make sure that you can use them. Promise!!!!!
Best Regards from all of us.

Staff at the reception very helpful..Price reasonable for November..The room was spacious and comfortable..Cleanliness was a bit haphazard when you looked closely..Bed linen was something from the 1950s...Every person at the hotel was Spanish and so all food available was meat and fish based. No veggie at all..The hotel is the usual rather awful all ceramic tile interior so that all noise carries a long way..To make matter worse there is a huge atrium which further channels all the noise into the rooms along with the small of cooking from the restaurant..The views were very poor. and the internet did not work that day..No English channels on the 1980s TV set..A one night only stay is about right for this hotel..Reception looks 4 star and rooms 3 star

Room Tip: Best go to a more international hotel or buy ear plugs for a good nights sleep

Dear David,
Thanks for letting us know your opinion.
It is true that the night you stayed with us we were fully booked with a spanish pensionist group, and that maybe a little loud at certains times.
We guarantee that the free WIFI works in the Hall and Cafeteria areas. And of course that we are working to be abble to offer also free WIFI in the rooms.
We will keep working to improve our services, and hope to see you back in the future.
Best regards.
