My wife and I plus daughter and fiancee were in Torre del mar during their recent Feria , we ate an evening meal 3 nights of our stay and found no problems at all , service was good , food plentiful , and the cleanliness we observed was first class .
Thoroughly enjoyed our meals with the ambiance of the Spanish locals , very good value for money .

On a recent trip to Torre Del Mar, we happened upon Meson Aljama as it was near our hotel. We had checked Trip Advisor to find the top two or three restaurants in the area, but both No. 1 and No. 2 were closed. What are the odds?
Meson Aljama was open and there was at least one table with people. They offered the same specials as most of the other places, which was an appetizer, entree and dessert for 7.50 Euro per person.
Sadly, this was one of the biggest mistakes we ever made.
Our waiter was friendly and efficient, but should start looking for a job at another restaurant. His talents are wasted here.
For an appetizer, I ordered the chick pea soup. It had plenty of chick peas, but the broth was as bland as puddle water. It contained some type of meat... pork maybe...hard to tell, because most of it was fat. My husband ordered a salad, which you think would be safe....uh uh. Nope. The lettuce looked like it had seen better days...like maybe 2 weeks ago.
Next up were the entrees. We both ordered the same, a white fish with vegetables. The fish was completely inedible. It was a thin, and I mean THIN, slice of fish with the skin left on. There was more skin on the fish than there was fish. Not unusual in Europe to serve fish in this manner, but it was so under cooked and slimy I thought it would slide off the plate. One taste was all we could manage. Let's just say it wasn't any better than the salad.
We pushed the food around our plates so as not to insult the waiter, and I thought they might be able to redeem themselves with the dessert, creme caramel. My husband didn't even want to try dessert being as the first two courses were so terrible. I figured, can you really mess up a dessert? Apparently yes, you can. Strike three...it was awful. Served in a cup of tin foil, tasteless and under cooked as well.
I think this is my 80th review, and as I have stated previously, I take no joy in writing bad reviews, but this was just terrible, to the point where I think someone may get sick from eating here. My husband doesn't like when I write reviews that are less than positive, but he actually asked me to review this place. All the while the TV (yes, there was a giant TV in the dining area) was blaring a game show of some sort. Literally blaring...you could have heard that TV back in the USA. This was not a sports bar either.
Dinner for two with a beer, a glass of wine and a bottle of water was 18.70 Euros. It wasn't even worth half this. Keeping in mind the waiter doesn't cook the meal, he was tipped appropriately. Poor guy.
