“Won't be going again”

The restaurant itself is clean, tidy and we'll presented.

The staff were efficient, friendly and welcoming.

The starters were really good. We had Bhuna Prawn Unpoori and mixed kebabs.

It was the main course that let the place down.
I had a Vindaloo and it did not taste like any Vindaloo I've had before and I have eaten a lot of them.
My friend's curry (I don't remember the name) was inedible. It tasted sour and off. We complained to the staff and their reply was the chef added a secret ingredient. No offer to replace it or apologise.

We had mushroom pilau and vegetable pilau. It wasn't pilau. It was like boiled rice. They were both exactly the same except they placed a couple of mushrooms on top of the 'mushroom' pilau.

We were all very disappointed and will not be going there again.
Expensive and low quality food.

“Best Indian in North Tyneside”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 February 2014 via mobile

My boyfriend and I always come here, whether it's an occasion or just because we fancy it. We are never let down, the food is delicious and service is great. Have tried most dishes on menu but I usually ask for a king prawn masala with chilies (lovely). I also love the Balti & Zalfrasey (not sure on spelling) which are flavoursome :-D. We just recently went for Valentines, we got a glass of champagne and a lovely meal at a good price. After the food we usually go to The Pub and Kitchen for drinks. ( which is just across the road)

“Lives up to reviews”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 February 2014

Lovely Indian restaurant. With such competition in the North Tyneside area Amaree does well to be top of the list.
2 courses, bottle of wine £49 so ok for value.
It was reassuringly busy.... Always a good sign.
Lots of staff so plenty of attention and good service.
Had the Dinaj lamb based on another review ... Good recommendation.
Now for the downside ...... The kitchen door has a squeaky hinge .... When the door opens 40 times an hour this is annoying ..... Sounds trivial but it's the thing that turns what could be the best indian in the area to one that isn't quite.
That said .... Go .....

“might try again”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 February 2014

This is the first time we have tried the Aramee, it came from a recommendation.
The staff are very friendly and curtious, We were shown to are table and our wine was poured.
We got are poppadoms and pickles, which were okay as poppadoms and pickles go.
Next are starters came but they were just warm we did tell the waiter who appoligised and said he will make sure our main meal will be hotter.
After the starter we were waiting for our main meal for about 20 mins, which is a little long to wait
but because they were quite busy we waited without saying anything.
when our main meals arrived they looked really good but again they were just warm as if they had be sitting on a warmer for a while. This is a shame because the food is nice in taste but just not hot in temperature. We will try this restaurant again but just when its not as busy.

“Our family favourite”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 January 2014

Whenever we have a birthday and ask where shall we go, our grown up children choose the Aramee. We went on Dec 28th and it is the best Indian sit down locally. Curries tasty, naan light and soft and such good service and ambience. We love it.
