“Pleasantly Surprised”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 October 2008

This holiday was booked as a last minute surprise for me by my wife and turned out to be a great relaxing one.

We arrived at the hotel in the early hours of the morning, and were welcomed by Nick. Took us to our room mentioning the safe deposit boxes, air con etc. After having chatted for a bit, he changed us to another room (61 if memory serves) which had a sea view. We also took the air con for the extra 53 euros.

The room was basic but VERY clean. Balcony was also very clean. Room was cleaned daily to a good standard. The toilet again was very clean but the shower does spray out onto the floor (which is a wet room floor) making it slippy. Dependant on what time you had a shower, the water could be look warm or hot.

This was the only minus point but not one that bothered us enough to say.

The staff were all friendly and helpful particularly nick. Food was Greek but what else would you expect in their country! We were able to have a good dinner every night without problem, I particularly enjoyed the soup.....The selection changed every night with a few items constant throughout.

If you don't want to try something new or are a fussy eater, might not be for you. We enjoyed the change.

There is a Taverna and the Anastasia Supermarket across the road which we visited on a few occasions. Other hotels etc. nearby and in Kremasti but we didn't manage into them.

Travelled into Rhodes Town a couple of days by bus for 2 euros, recommend this also. Bus picks up right outside the front of the Hotel.

We MUST also recommend the Beer Garden at the beach side of the hotel, and especial Nick behind the bar, VERY friendly and fantastic service.
The hotel is directly in the flight path for the airport but even with the low flying planes, this was not a issue at all. WILL be back in the near future....

  • Liked — SO Relaxing, Nick in the Beer Garden
  • Disliked — Breakfast - Not a major issue though

Me (17yrs) and my Mum (44yrs) came to the Bayside for a well needed relaxing break. Paid £356 each for 1week half board. Booked with Olypmic - wouldn't use again!

Hotel ~ Clean & tidy on the whole. Staff OK. No lift.

Room (No85) ~ Very basic - bed & bathroom. Shower(if you can call it that) is terrible bathroom becomes completely soaked as there is no curtain or sides just a base. Smelt of drains constantly as we had 2 drain holes in our room with the surrounding apartments water flowing through. Didn't buy air-con and was fine.

Balcony ~ Not good - was open, no walls, had other guest walking freely onto it. This also meant we could not leave balcony open at all.

Pool Area ~ Good - although had to be up at 8 to get sun beds.

Beach ~ Not nice - too stoney to walk on or go in sea.

Snack Bar ~ Lovely, food delicious & reasonable prices.

Breakfast ~ AWFUL - no choice, no hot food, all other food poor quality, same every day.

Evening Meal ~ Not good - pork every night. Casseroles/Stew/Soup. Served by a miserable chef who chucks it at you & doesn't like to give you big portions. (You don't help yourself). One choice of pudding usually water melon. For both meals you have to clear up after yourself & tablecloths not replaced after previous party.

Entertainment ~ They're trying. Greek night 5Euro - I don't think it's worth it.

Area ~ Nothing in Kremasti, very quiet. ''Ideal'' bar opposite hotel - OK. Go to Trianda - resort down the road (6Euro a taxi) - much better there. Rhodes Old Town is lovely but very expensive (7Euro for a Bacardi Breezer) - (1.20Euro on bus, 12Euro in taxi).

Despite all this the sun was shining and that’s all that matters! We had a lovely time but would NOT go back to Bayside or Rhodes!!!

Just returned from 2 weeks at the Bayside Hotel, We found the hotel clean and tidy, all the staff were friendly and helpful and enjoyed a good laugh if you gave them the chance, we found the food fresh with a good choice of the local cuisine. Should you visit the hotel next year then you must visit Nicos snack bar at the rear of the hotel where you will be able to enjoy the best bacon rolls ever!! cooked by Nicos who is a super guy who enjoys a good chat and a laugh. All in all what we paid for the holiday was very good value for what we got. Thanks to Nick, Irene, Anita, Nicos and all the staff for a great holiday

.Allen and Pat.

Was quite looking forward to my stay at the Bayside hotel as I'd read some good reviews about it.....must have been a different Bayside hotel, Kremasti. The only good thing about this place is the pool area and the pool side barman.

On arrival we wasn't even expected...so they gave us a larger room (was only me and my girlfriend) which was fine. Appart from that the staff were rather unapproachable and seemed annoyed when you asked questions and didn't seem interested if you had a complaint. The food was awful...really awful. Breakfasts were the same every morning (Boiled eggs and bread mainly). The main bar was often left unattended so you couldn't buy a drink when you wanted one

There was little hot water, the rooms smelled of drains (ours did anyway),

How than can claim to be a 4 star hotel is beyond me (even when the brochure says 3)

Like I say the only up side ws the pool bar of an evening (it is only open of an evening, which I thought strange) which has a nice relaxing atmosphere and a very friendly barman called Xen.

I shall not be returning and I would advise people to stear clear.

Hi all, just got back from Bayside hotel and after reading the last 2 reviews I really felt that I had to write another review of this hotel! First, the good. This is the 3rd time my wife and I have stayed at Bayside and it will not be the last! Nick, the hotel owner, made us really welcome (again!) and did his utmost to ensure that we had a pleasurable stay, right down to when I mentioned that there were ants in the garden snack bar area, at which point he said he would deal with it (he did.). As for the food, very good, mostly greek, as you would expect in greece!!. Rat,s?!!!, never seen one!!, seen more back here in the uk!!!. Now ,for the rest of the staff, very helpful, smiling, can,t do enough for you ,thanks to Irene ,pronounced ereenee, Zen, the pool side barman, receptionist,s, cleaner,s etc, all of whom made our stay wonderful!!. And now, the bad, had to come home!!!!, thank,s Nick, will be back in 2009!!!

Swimming pool very good and barman at poolside very friendly. All other staff very unhelpfull and never smiled.
Food was uninviting and no selection. When breakfast cereal was empty would not refill.
Rooms clean and tidy but very little hot water.

This hotel was shocking. The worst holiday of my life, we could not wait to get home. A couple who we met during out nightmare week actually paid extra to fly home early. Our room was terrible, there was mould growing on the walls and it was dirty. There was no running water in our bathroom from the shower and the water we got from the sink was freezing cold. When we approached the reception about the problem with our room, the female receptionist was extremely rude and told us to go away. For the whole week we had to shower outside at the pool. Most of the staff had similar attitudes to this woman, apart from the lovely bar man Zen, who was supprisingly pleasant and funny.
The food was awful- there was no variety- no choice for children and absolutely no choice for vegetarians. The food was unfresh, and practically unedible. We spent the majority of the week feeling ill and spent two days physically being sick.
Perhaps it was the disgusting food that invited pests into the hotel such as rats and ants that were found in our room, and not just a few ants, but a LOT of ants.
We had a terrible time, and would not reccomend the hotel to our worst enemies.
The travel company (Olympic) that we flew with were also a dissapointment. The holiday rep for Olympic was uninterested in our welfare, she turned up late to meetings and was very unsympathetic to any holiday makers needs.
On the way back from our holiday hell, we were feeling happy to go home, and because we had paid extra for a daytime flight, we would be home and in bed at 8 o'clock. But when we arrived at the airport we found out flight to be delayed by 11 hours. There was no help in the Rhodes airport, noone to talk to concearning our delayed flight or where to go to get help. Usually on other holidays, the company reps are present to ensure you a safe journey- not this rep. We slept on a cold, hard floor and were offered a sandwich and a drink each to last us the whole 11 hours.

The entire holiday was awful, I will not be going again, or travelling with Olympic Holidays- who when we contacted regarding the holiday, were again very rude and unsympathetic, simply saying that it was 'not their problem'. They should not have hotels that are in such poor condition and quality on their books. Do not book to go here, you will regret it.

AWFUL, TERRIBLE, DISASTER, DIRTY - no not go!

There are no photos to share because there was nothing we wanted to remember!
