“4th Visit but dissappointed this time.”
Reviewed 12 June 2011

This was our 4th visit the Odessa. We were really looking forward to returning to the hotel after a 2 year break, unfortunately we were disappointed. We had requested a pool view which unfortunately we did not get but that wasn’t too much of a problem. There was a large wedding party at the hotel during our stay so the pool area was very busy we spent the week in the grassed area of the hotel. Bar staff at the pool bar were not as friendly as the bar in the reception area. New seating area upstairs is nice. Food was ok something for everyone but was getting a bit of the same by the end of the week. Rooms are nice after having a face lift but the public areas could do with some attention the toilets were needing to be maintained better. Protaras is a lovely resort he new walk way is an added bonus. Some people feel Cyprus is expensive but no more so than anywhere else in Europe some bars are more expensive than others though. Flora bar is nice always made to feel welcome and drinks are cheap its as you come out of the road from the Odessa turn right at the top and not to far up the strip on the left. All in all a good holiday in Protaras. For what we paid was value for money. We will return to Protaras but not the Odessa.

I've stayed at the Odessa a number of times now and will continue to as it keeps on getting better and better. The holiday always starts well with such a warm welcome from Koulla and the staff on reception. We had a room that gave an uninterupted sea view with was kepy spotlessley clean by the fabulous cleaning staff, Christina is especially friendly even when they had to deal with the mess caused by the sandstorm and rain that we had when we were there.
The food was great and there were plenty of options every mealtime, my partner is a picky eater and he managed to find something every day. As we were half board we went out after dinner every evening and as the location of the hotel is so central we didn't have far to walk to find a bar or entertainment if you wanted it.
The resort is changing at a rate of knots and new bars, restaurants and shops appeared in the two weeks we were there, a new coffee shop opposite McDonalds was an empty shell when we got there....by the time we left it was finished and full of customers!
As always we had an exellent holiday and have already booked to return to the Odessa later this year, and I'm looking at next year too.
Word of advice, always look to book with Direct Holidays. I've spent alot of time comparing prices and always find Direct a couple of pounds cheaper and the you get the added 20kg of luggage at no extra cost and your in flight meals included on exactly the same flight as if you booked with Thomas Cook.
Definitely go to the Odessa.

I did my home work before booking this hotel, using trip advisor and other sources,
it paid off.
We absolutely loved our stay at the Odessa!!!
very central, rooms are spacious and light, slept better in the beds there than I am doing at home, very comfortable could not fit one my case unfortunately. Staff are great, a bell boy was waiting to take our cases to our room on arrival at 2am, and there was a waitress handing out refreshments whilst we checked in, which was efficient and quick, very impressed. Lots to do through the day if you like to join in, table tennis, killer pool, variation of water sports and much more. 3 mins walk to the beach, very clean, if you like snorkeling there is a small rock pool just to the right of the jetti and an even better one further down on the right. We were all inclusive and thought the food was fantastic from morning till night, was nice to eat in the restuarant in the evenings as apose to the bistro areas used through the day, very good waiter service. Pool bar great Dameetri -Bar Man is a cheeky chappy. Cyprus was choosen for us as our holiday destination as my partner was the best man at our friends wedding, We had never considered it before but we are so glad that we went and we are looking to book again asap, hopefully at the Odessa if possible. We are a young couple who like the best of both worlds, some relaxation with bars close by if we fancy a lively night or 2. Just right!!

This is the sixth time we had stayed at the Odessa and again were not disappointed. From the second we arived to be greeted by the excellent Koulla and her staff on reception we felt like we had arrived home. We were lucky enough to have one of the uninterupted sea view rooms at the end of the hotel and as always the room was excellent. Tea and coffee facilities were replenished every day and the room was always kept spotlessly clean by the excellent cleaning staff. We were on half board basis and enjoyed the food more this year than we had previously. Lots of choice and what I would call 'english' options evey day such as carvery etc. The breakfast choice was huge and ok the bacon wasn't what I would choose but there was so much else who cares!
We choose to sit away from the poll on the grass area looking out to sea and for most of the holiday there was no problem getting the sunbes that we wanted. It got very busy during our second week as I was obvious parents had taken their children out of school a week earlier than the Whitsun week to bring them away, even more reason to stay away from the pool that week if you haven't got kids!
The new beach path is excellent and although they are just putting the finishng touches to it THIS DID NOT AFFECT OUR HOLIDAY!
I would certainly recommend a stay at the Odessa hotel and in fact had already booked by next break before we went on this one. I'm really looking forward to being back there in July.

If you want a relaxing holiday then don't stay at this hotel odessa - the pool area was packed and loads of kids. Had to be down early to reserve you sunbeds. My husband went down at 6am and there weren't many left then. I would recommend you go all inclusive, as we are not big drinkers, but found the drinks were expensive and we worked out it would have been more cost effective to go all-inclusive. After being their a week we had to ask the maid to strip our bed as this hadn't been changed. She didn't understand English and I had to strip the bed myself. Pillow cases never got changed, again I had to take the covers off and leave them on the bed to give her the hint they needed changing. never stayed at a hotel before where they don't change your bed linen, and we are well travelled. The noise from the entertainment at night was far too loud, and lots of people were complaining and they still didn't tone it down. The entertainment was poor, not bad for kids but that's only because they had a kids mini disco every night.!!!!
Alot of work going on around the beach area and the hotel is set on the worst part of the beach. Beaches further round heading towards fig tree bay (which is far too crowded) was a better beach. The cost of our 2 week holiday - we could of gone to the carribean for less. Overall we would recommend you pay that bit more if you want to go to this resort and stay at Sunrise beach or Capa Bay hotel.

Just returned.

The hotel very clean, room spotless, food fantastic different menu every night, breakfast buffet in the morning very good, entertainment not that great,ok for the kids during the day,but the evening was quite poor, but loads of bars in the strip in protaras.
The main thing to say is would we return and the answer is yes and would go to the same hotel.
Would like to add that we were half board, and we could upgrade to all inclusive but as not big drinkers and entertainment in the evenings not being that great,I would advise anyone not to go all inclusive if not fussed about drinking).
The bars in protaras were quite reasonable £2 euro for cocktails(Reeves bar) was the cheapest and excellent value, try and see the Misfits in the strip very good and funny.
On the beach we paid 7.50 Euro's for a two sun beds and umbrella tried to charge 10Euro's but we haggled ( The pool at Odessa always packed I mean towels on beds from 8am and no one on them yes and I am afraid to say it was the English)
Staff very friendly and very helpful.

If you thinking of going on any trips whilst you are their, just advise you that the Sunday market is like a small English car boot, 20 minutes and done. Then we went onto the camel place, be advised that its 9euro's on top to have a camel ride for adults and 6 euro's for kids

Local bus's are every 20 minutes very cheap.

Hope you enjoy your stay in the Odessa hotel as we did

Just got back from this hotel and have to say that for what you pay it really is great value. It is in a great location, almost on the beach and just set back from the main strip. Everywhere is clean and the staff are very friendly and helpful - particularly the reception staff who are probably amongst the friendliest and most efficient we have come across.
We love Protaras and have been many times before. They are doing some work to the coastal path but this really shouldn't affect your holiday and hey work cannot just come to a standstill for we tourists can it. We didn't drink in the hotel much as we love Ripples Bar - just past Macdonalds on the opposite side - you couldn't get a more relaxed and friendly place. It is run by brothers Demetrius (Jimmy) and Andreas who make you feel so welcome and its great for families and couples alike. We loved the Odessa and have already booked for next year and hopefully will be back in September too.
