Poor location due to nightclubs playing music to all hours of the morning. Rooms are not the same as the Internet. Noisy locals invade this and the hotel next door, the Vrissiana. Food of a 2 star standard and then there's the building work taking place right at the pool. Put sun oil on and 5mins later covered in dust. Don't go and if you've already booked move.

We went here in May 2012 and after reading some reviews i was nervous about the hotel in general especially staying all inclusive. My husband and I had a great holiday from start to finish the food the drink the staff (esp Demitri at the the bar) were second to none. I will def be back and will bring our 2 children next time. Pool side entertainment was enjoyable throughout the day and at night time you could venture to the small but lively streets of Protarus or stay in the comfortable hotel bar. If i had to really pick a fault the only thing i could think of is that our double bed was 2 singles pushed together lol.. Food was readily and freshly available all day every day and the effort they put into their dinner menu is great - nearly a different theme every night :) Awesome location couldnt get better!

Room Tip: Ask from a sea view if possible :)

Liked the hotel and it's location. Read about the building work going on on trip advisor but in all honesty it had no effect on the holiday. The building that is going on is as far as I can see is not in front of the Odessa but next to it. It was all kept tidy and fairley quiet the only problem was people trying to make it out to be worse than it was! All inclusive guests did get a reasonable deal I wish we had done that because to upgrade was very very expensive and to buy drinks in the hotel was expensive too. All in all a great time was had and we would go back. I have seen reviews were people have slagged off the entertainment, in my opinion it was fine. What does anyone expect from holiday entertainment, something to kill an hour or two, not the full works of William Shakespeare being performed on a daily basis.

Right as we speak i am sitting in the Odessa lounge, i am leaving wednesday and have been here 11 days so far. the staff are kind, especially at the bar, they are fast at serving.
The entertainment is good, the entertainers - Dane, Hannah, Jess and Tom, work about 10 hours to keep people entertained during night time and around the swimming pool area, the entertainment is aimed at most ages from 8:30pm till about 9:00pm there is a children's disco, but at 9:30pm there is bingo and winnings of around 70-100 euros, and some night karaoke and other stuff.
The rooms are good, clean, and the AC (air conditioning) is also good, its would be best if you asked for a "pool view" otherwise you will be disappointed as some rooms have views of another hotels pool and an abandoned/empty swimming pool located round the side belonging to what once was a hotel but is now a Tsokkos laundry cleaning place.

The food is excellent, both traditional Cypriot food and normal food you find most places, there is a great variety and dinner however breakfast there is only and small limitation of food to choose from.
the cleaners can be annoying as they choose the most inappropriate timings to clean your room, some days late and some early.
The reception and manger are kind, honest and respectful.

People used to complain about the building work however they have stopped but sometime work for about 2-3 hours during the day.

Other than to hotel, the best time to visit Cyprus is around September where there are no annoying locals and young people - thats only if you want a relaxing holiday.
The worst time is around Late July - August where it is constantly around 46 degrees celcius.

I find going AI (All Inclusive) is better, however you will have to speed around 700 pounds (GBP) for four people (around 175 pounds pp and about 12.5 euros pp each day)

The strip is interesting, especially the Zodiac Karaoke bar and Oscars Steakhouse Resuarant which have brilliant kind and respectful staff and owners and great food and drinks.

The beach is good, if you do not like 'busy' DO NOT good on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday as that is when the locals are there and also the temperatures pick up to around 50 degrees (C) due to the wind.

If your looking for fun you can hire quad bikes, buggies and mopeds from around 70 euros per vehicle per day, and also watersports can be interesting.

There is also a waterpark located at Ayia Napa which is around 35 euros per person (pp), i was disappointed by the waterpark however that is only my opinion.

Good luck :)

Room Tip: Ask for 'Pool view' otherwise you are wasting your money. I stayed in Room 221 & 223...

Just came back from a week at the Odessa. Before I went I read some reviews and thought that people only write reviews to moan so I wanted to write the truth. On arrival we recieved a glass of juice which was very welcome after a hot journey, as we missed the evening meal we were given a voucher that entitled us to have a dinner the following day (very nice touch) We stayed half board and found the food to be good, there was always a selection and both breakfast and evening there were chefs cooking food hot in view. Drinks for half board are only included in the breakfast, drinks at all other meals have to be paid for (wasnt aware of this at the time of booking, never been half board so cant say if this is normal so just be prepared to have a drinks bill at the end) The hotel is old in some places and some of it does need updating, I do find it hard to believe that this hotel is a 4 star. We had a family room on the ground floor which looked out onto the neighbouring hotels pool area, To be honest this was a much better view and pool area than the Odessa has. I feel that the other hotels in the area are of a much better apperance it is this that lets the Odessa down, it just needs some TLC. Our room was cleaned daily and to a good standard, all staff were friendly and a problem with our safe was fixed within minutes. The hotel is in a perfect location to explore Protaras. Some reviews mention buliding work and yes we did see some happening but this did not have any effect on our holiday. We went out on the strip everynight so didnt see much of the evening entertainment but what we did see was poor. They need to take a look at the hotel next door, their entertainment was a joy to watch.Breakfast and dinner are served in a basic dining room while evening meal is much more formal with tablecloths, waiters and a feeling of elegance (I think the other meals need to work towards this level of service) Overall the Odessa is a good hotel but not perfect. If you use a hotel on holiday as a base to sleep and eat then there is nothing wrong with this hotel. If you go on holiday to sit by the pool and not venture out then you may be a little disappointed.

This was mine and my boyfriends first holiday together and after reading some bad reviews about the Odessa before we went we were very nervous! Dont understand what people are talking about! Its a great hotel and offered everything we wanted! All i can say is people are picky and looking for negative things to write!

Accomodation: Great! We had a side seaview and this is what we got aswell as the next door hotels pool lol! Wasnt a problem as i dont stand outside looking anyway.
Beds were so comfy and rooms were cleaned everyday by maids. We did have a slight problem with our air con but this was sorted straight away so cant fault the staff.

Hotel: Hotel was clean and tidy! Lobby was modern with a lovely bar (Royal Marine) and a lovely veranda to sit on if you wanted. Pool bar was lovely and staff worked very hard to get you drinks fast. Main restaurant was gorgeous! New white leather chairs in there. The breakfast and lunch restaurant was a little dated but who cares? It was clean and thats what matters! Pool was always clean and tidy and while we were there new umbrellas and sunbeds had been delivered so looked very nice.

Food and drink: Always a vaiety of food at all breakfast, lunch and dinner. Always hot and very tasty so dont understand why people are moaning! Big choice of drinks! Including soft, cocktails, wine, beer etc.

Entertainment: Fantastic! Jess, Hannah, Dale and Mikayla all worked so hard from morning to evening! Always activities during the day including waterpolo. darts, pool and quizzes! At night there was a mini disco, bingo (which we won twice whoop!) and followed by a show. I was never bored and enjoyed every minute! Well done guys! Also a kids club run by Mikalya, never used as didnt have kids but sure was great!

Resort: Protaras is amazing! About 2 minutes from hotel is the main street with bars, restuarnats, shops etc! Went out both during the day and night and would return to Protaras! :) Went Ayia Napa for day top which was 1 euro on bus but didnt think too much of it but thats me!

Overall i cant fault the hotel and would return again! :) Had a great holiday!

Just back from 2 weeks at the Odessa. It's a clean well maintained hotel(209 rooms) situated near the centre of Protaras and handy for the beach. Our room had a sea view and was probably one of the better decorated that we have stayed in over the years. The guests, vast majority being from the UK, were a mixture of couples of all ages and families, mostly with younger children but thankfully there were other teenagers there for our son to bounce off! The pool was for me a little on the small side but never seemed to be over-crowded. The pool furniture was replaced while we there. There were plenty of sunbeds and parasols. If you didn't want to get up too early there were beds on the grass areas away from the pool.

Positives:
The food was very good from breakfast through to dinner(we were all inclusive) although lunch could have included more snack type items such as pizza, burgers etc although they were available from 3pm onwards as a snack. Ice cream was free. It was all buffet style so there was no waiting. The dining areas were clean and well furnished with no problems getting tables at any time. We only felt like eating out once. Drink was local as they say for all inclusive guests so was just as expected.

The service from staff was friendly enough and a couple of minor problems with our room were attended to in a matter of minutes.

The entertainment was standard fare eg killer pool, darts, water polo during the day with themed evenings, bingo and kids disco. The entertainment team worked very hard and built up a good relationship with the guests. We've seen a lot worse!

Negatives:
We had a sea view which would have been good had it not been for the building site, not that were was much work going on while we were there.

Some of the grass area could have been a little better maintained as some of it was a tad unkempt, particularly towards the side entrance to the pool

We paid an adut price for our 15 year son to sleep in a camp bed, though we knew this beforehand

The service at the pool bar could have been better on occasion.

The wifi was 4 euros for an hour but you couldn't call it off as and when required. Once into it you had to use it all in one go and also be in the reception area. Still probably cheaper than going to a pub and buying drinks to get the 'free' wifi

Overall this was undoubtedly 4 star in the context of package holidays. We met people who were repeat guests which is a compliment to the hotel

Room Tip: Sea view rooms are quiet ie on the beach side
