“What a wonderful hotel and holiday!”
Reviewed 21 October 2013

My partner and I have just come back from staying at the Odessa (6am this morning) and what can I say? The staff are brilliant! They are courteous, polite and incredibly helpful, not to mention hard working. They don't stand still for 5 minutes! We stayed on a half board basis and thoroughly enjoyed the food on offer. There was such a choice for breakfast, whatever your taste, and the evening meal was equally as good. The hotel was full yet people were not kept waiting to dine - tables were cleared and laid for diners incredibly quickly. The hotel room was clean and comfortable, tastefully decorated and kept very clean with beds made every day by the hard working staff. The bar and reception staff were always lovely and nothing was too much trouble.

We have had a wonderful holiday and would go back to the Odessa without hesitation.

What I would like to say that it is extremely sad that people will choose to be so negative when writing their review on Tripadvisor, picking up and even photographing imperfections in the hotel. Perhaps if we all went round our own homes with a camera we may well have a shock! If you choose to spend your time photographing bits of the hotel you clearly don't know how to enjoy a good holiday, that presumably you've saved hard for, and you definitely need to get a life!!

Like everything, from time to time money needs to be spent on things as nothing stays "as new" for ever, and I believe the hotel have spent and plan to spend more on refurbishments. It is a large busy hotel with lots of visitors with pushchairs, wheelchairs, children etc. and that is going to take it's toll after a period of time - my house wouldn't withstand it that's for sure.

We went on holiday for a break as we've not had one for 3 years, we saw a lot of the island, hired a car and clocked up 2000 km in a week as there's so much to see and do. I was last in Protaras over 12 years ago and clearly a lot of time and money has been spent on revamping the sea front and other areas for the benefit of us holiday makers and we should appreciate it - not complain.

Thank you to all the hotel staff for helping to make our holiday so memorable.

Room Tip: Front facing rooms are best as we were on the back, and although had a sea view, were in the shade a...

I have been going to cyprus for about 20 years now,we have stayed in various hotels villas and appts, this was the first time we stayed at the odessa,i see a lot of people have complaints about a lot of things ranging from the towel lady to food,in my opinion the hotel is fine, the entertainment crew worked hard and do not deserve the negative reports,we are over 65,if we wanted perfect peace and quiet we would have booked a villa,if i was going to moan about anything it would be the huge amount of food that is taken in bags from the restaurant by russian people,it was very bad,i watched one russian lady taking a piece of cheese the size of a house brick, along with about 8 bananas,i am sure they must have a market stall selling all the stuff they take, the hotels food bill must be huge, anyway i found all the hotel staff and entertainment team very helpfull and friendly, the food quality and hotel was good for the price we paid,we have stayed in 5 stars, costing a lot more money with similar food.

Room Tip: facing the pool

It was my second time at the odessa this year all inclusive both times. The hotel is lovely and the staff are always very welcoming and always there to help. When arrived had fresh orange juice and backs where taken up to my room for me. Breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks all a wide variety. Bar and pool staff very helpful often come round asking if needed a drink or anything. Cleaners are very friendly and say hello everyday if you pass them, and any requests that will tackle these straightaway.
Good location, beach is lovely, town has wide range of shops and bars, visit bells and greenery bars these were the best.
Reps at hotel, Demi and Mel, we're very helpful and friendly always there when you need them.
The thomas cook entertainment team were fantastic and they made my holiday! They are 3 lovely girls Alesie, Laura and nicola all very lovely and all unique in there own way....they are complete nutters and will make you laugh and always put a smile on your face. Provide a wide range of activities for everyon...and excellent shows in the evening...Laura has a superb voice best I've heard in a long time, Alesie makes you cry with laughter with her crazy antics and nicola is just nicola.
Overall best holiday yet..and all thanks to the staff at the odessa hotel and for the thomas cook staff!! :)

What varied reviews and opinions! Just back from a half-board week at the Odessa Beach Hotel and could not fault the hotel staff. Food was excellent with a varied selection - we dined early, both for breakfast and dinner so perhaps those who ate later may have found there was less choice, however it was always being replenished when we were in the breakfast room or restaurant. We travelled with our adult children and their partners - they had sea view rooms on the 4th floor and did find it was noisy some nights from the hotel next door - my husband and I had a pool view room on the 4th floor - we were more disturbed by the entertainment at the Odessa - the team obviously worked hard but it was not to our taste and you could not relax around the pool in the day time because of the music blasting out or the team belting out on the microphone that it was time for 'fitness', pool volley ball, bingo or the quiz. They were probably more suited to children's' entertainment but there were very few young children there. No problems from 'Sofa Sofa' as we assume it had closed for the season but still plenty of bars open outside the hotel for a quiet or noisy drink as you wish. We had no problems with the cleanliness / towels / finding a sun bed / food or staff being grumpy! [It was only some of the other guests who looked miserable!] The rooms did have a few scuffs on the walls - but it was late in the season and it is only people who make this mess so you can't blame the cleaners as they only have a short time to clean all of the rooms. Yes you had to pay for the fridge but you didn't have to pay for the air con as you sometimes do, so balanced out really. All in all we would recommend this hotel and would stay there again given the opportunity.

Room Tip: Pool or sea view possibly better as there are rooms on the back overlooking the road.

This was our 17th visit to the Odessa, and it is still a great hotel. The staff are friendly and always have time to speak to you, nothing is too much trouble. The location is the best in Protaras, and even the new hotel at the rear of the Odessa does not block the wonderful sea view.
The rooms are bright and airy, comfortable beds (better than those in British hotels I have stayed in), tea and coffee making facilities in the room, rooms cleaned daily with fresh towels. Even the beach towels you can borrow for the duration of your stay. We had no trouble when we needed to change these, and we had no trouble with the lady dealing with the towels like I have read on other reviews.
Food was plentiful, hot at both breakfast and evening meal, with a great selection. I have read the negative reviews on the food, but from my observation, I heard no one complain about the food, and everyone was tucking in and enjoying the meals. You have to realise that we are in a different country and have to except that the cooking styles differ from those in the UK, and it is nice to try something you would not normally eat at home. I feel they do a great job as they have to cater for a lot of different nationalities and feel the cooks deserve more credit. Also Michaels team in the restaurant do a fantastic job in keeping everything going and clearing the tables.
The reception team led by Koulla do a great job, all with a smile on their faces, even though so sometimes they have an un-enviable job.
We had no trouble finding a sun lounger by the pool or grass area, what ever time of the day we went to the pool.
Okay some parts of the hotel may need updating, but a lot of this is down to mis-treatment by some guests, also it is not cheap to replace everything year in year out. There have been improvements to the hotel from last year like the toilets by the restaurant and pool have been updated. This hotel still offers great value for money.
We will be returning in 2014 with all the family.

Just back from a week all inclusive at the Odessa travelling with Thomas Cook.
Flight- Food was good, staff were attentive but there was a lack of any in-flight entertainment and on a 4-5 hour flight it got a bit tedious.
Hotel- We were in room 321 overlooking the pool and sea, cleaned daily, towel changed and was a bright, air-conditioned and good sized room with en-suite shower room. If you want to use the fridge there is a charge, not really what i'd expect from an "all inclusive"
Staff- Entertainment staff were the highlight of the holiday, Aleise, Laura and Nicola kept us going all day and night, really friendly and helpful with where to go and what to avoid so make sure you catch up with them when you get there.
Food/drink- food was a bit repetitive and there wasnt much choice of where to eat at the hotel, drink was "gut rot" but suppose its what i expected from local brand drink. Plenty of places to eat and drink just outside the hotel.
In general the hotel is in a good location, is clean and tidy and perfect for a week in the sun as long as youre not expecting the full blown "all inclusive" experience you would get in some other resorts. Pretty basic but generally not a bad place to spend a week.

Room Tip: Ground floor apartments are bigger and those facing the pool have direct access and a large terrace...
