“Slap Dash”
Reviewed 4 June 2014

We arrived in the early hours of the morning so I think the receptionist couldnt be bothered telling us, but people were made to pay £20 to unlock a fridge that didnt even have a lock on it and was working already. You have to pay for Fridge, Safe, Wifi, practically everything really. We stayed for two weeks and the made didnt change our bedding we had to complain and then when she did change our bedding she didnt put a duvett sheet on which revealed a huge wee stain on our covers. We had to complain again to reception but they did apologize and leave us a small bottle of red wine. The painting in the halls was extrememly slap dash as there was paint allover light switches and and fire alarms, there was also paint sploges allover the carpets. Drinks were ridiculously over priced. Some reception staff were nice but some was arogant one young man in particular we found extremely rude and cock sure of himself. The waiters again some were nice some were arogant, Marlon i think he was called, (very tall man) was lovely and was a credit to the hotel. The female barstaff never talked and was miserable even when we tried to make conversation but the male barstaff was lovely one in particular was absolutley wonderful and made our stay fun (I cant remember his name though it was a foriegn name like Imak or something). The food wasnt that nice some nights it was awful and we would just dine out instead but some night there was a few nice things. The best thing about this hotel was the entertainment staff! They was absolutley amazing, they always had things for you to do throughout the day and night they was extremely nice and easy to get on with. The entertainment staff should all have raises because they was the only thing that got us through staying in this hotel. The hotel on a whole is a nice hotel to look at but its when you look closely you see the paint and the carpet, but appart from that it is well decorated and well furnished, it is in a good area right in between the beach and the townand the pool is lovely .

We booked this hotel due to a family wedding which was being held at the Capo Bay so was a good location. On arrival we were greeted very well by George, who was the only one on reception who was friendly and helpful. On arrival at the room, we were happy with the size and cleanliness but the noise from a neighbouring hotel was unbelieveable. We decided with small children we would not be able to sleep so my husband went and asked if we could move. He was told to come back the following day. When he did, he was told nothing was available and to come back the following day, this continued for 3 days. On the fourth day I then decided to speak with the Thomas Cook rep who then tried to see what she could do. On returning later that day, I was told that there was nothing they could do, unless we were willing to pay a supplement, as it stated in the brochure that it was a lively hotel. We agreed as we wanted to enjoy the rest of our holiday. The new room was nice and looked onto the pool which was great. However, after paying we found out that two familes had been moved without paying any supplements which annoyed us a lot, as it seemed to be one rule for one and another for another.

It was such a shame all this happened because apart from the noise and the management being so unhelpful, the rest of the staff were very good and made our stay enjoyable.

The food was okay, but not a lot of variety for kids who dont like meat with sauce and also the vegetables were very overcooked. However, the location is good as you walk about 5 mins and you have loads of choice serving very good food.

Unfortunately i would not return to this hotel as I did not find the service from Front of House acceptable and do not except that on my holiday after saving all year for it.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the front of the hotel on the pool side unless you dont want to sleep before 1.30a...

stayed here in april basic hotel not worth 4 star rating. was nice and clean but food the first week was awful. no choice and stone cold.after several guests complained the food got better. and hotter. for a budget holiday it was ok beware that the hotel is full of russians who have no manners at all. but it was close to the beach and the strip.the night club can be noisy but guests are not allowed to use it! would go back if the price was right.

Room Tip: take one over the entrance it was quiet you have to pay for a sea view

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at this hotel... Already looking to book for next year.
Very friendly service, very clean... I can't fault it! Was made to feel very welcome and very looked after and I thank all of the staff there that made my holiday fantastic... I look forward to bringing my kids with me next year, and really hope it will be the same entertainment team from this year as they were very friendly, very entertaining and my kids will love them.
Thank you everyone! See u next year :)

This was our first trip to the Odessa, Four of us stayed here because we were going to a wedding. It was very nice. There was lots of choice for meals and snacks even my husband found things he could eat because he is very fussy.
Very clean hotel and staff very helpful.
The bedrooms basic but nice, all 3 pin plug sockets and the rooms had fridges tea/ coffee kettle facilities.
Plus the Thomas Cook rep very nice.
They also had a towel service in the gym.
There is lots of sunbeds and the pool nice but small.
The wifi not very good.
We arrived very late because our plane was delayed, so we couldn't get anything to eat and drink, it would have been nice if we had been offered a sandwich and a drink.
The Hotel have a management meeting on Monday night with free drinks just to welcome you to the hotel, a very nice gesture.

Room Tip: We stayed in rooms 219 and 221 sea and pool view very nice but we paid an extra £70 per room to Thom...

This was our second visit to Protaras and thought we would try a different hotel but we wish we had chosen another as we were disappointed, firstly for a four star our room had curtains falling of the window and wardrobe doors leaning against the inner wall as the runners were broken it had a feel of an unloved hotel so for me this was a poor start we also think its bad that we had to pay for a fridge never known this in a four star before, my biggest pet hate is know information in the room about the hotel and how to get things like towels, internet etc not everyone likes to keep going to reception asking questions every five minutes. positives in the rooms are the tea/coffee facility's and comfy beds. On the food side it was all OK but could have been a little hotter, we were staying for two weeks so ate out a few times. The staff you cannot fault very helpful and friendly and seem very happy at there work. Overall an average three star hotel but as we got such a good deal we didn't worry to much and did enjoy our two week holiday, Protaras is a great place to visit . Best tip we can give was to dine at Diva and shop in Happy Days.
