The staff really do make this hotel. I would say this hotel is a 3/4 rather than solid 4* but don't let that put you off. The style of the hotel is lovely, very modern. But the finishing touches let it down a little. Paint on the carpets and doors etc.

Our room was on the 1st floor with a full sea view. The view was fantastic and there was no noise at all once the balcony doors were shut although you could here music from the strip if you left them open.

The rooms have a safe and air con, huge beds and a dressing table with huge mirror. The showers are a little small but sufficient. The maid visited daily to change towels, make bed, mop floor etc.

The food was a bit hit and miss. Breakfast quite good, lots of hot and cold options. I may be wrong but lunch felt a lot like leftovers from dinner the night before. Dinner was a little better and we always found something to eat. The food was 100 times better in the local restaurants and was always reasonably priced.

The pool is lovely and refreshing if not a little chilly! It's perfect after lying around in the hot sun though. There is entertainment, aqua gym, Aqua Zumba etc. the entertainment team are lovely but you can tell they have a low budget.

The bar staff, Dimitri, Michael and Marlon are all brilliant. They made our holiday. Great service with a smile and always in a great mood despite their long hours. A credit to Tsokkos.

The only complaint I do have was with Thomas Cook and is through no fault of the hotel. For some reason the transfer bus will not drop you off or pick you up from the hotel. You are simply dumped on the strip. The path to the hotel is very dark and uneven and is frankly unsafe. The rep didn't even apologise for this. There were many people with walking difficulties dragging there cases around. There's no reason that the coach can't get to the hotel....many many others did it every day.

I would recommend the hotel but would suggest a different transfer arrangements.

Odessa beach hotel is a perfect place for spending your relax time. The hotel has all the important essentials so you can be undisturbed resting. The hotel service, food, and all the accessories are on the acceptable level. The most interesting and what I find very nice is all the staff around animation program. The people are very friendly, nice and they really do they best to make your holidays enjoyable. Every evening is a different program which is very imaginative and fun. I enjoyed it very much. I really recommend this hotel at least for the diligent staff and pleasant atmosphere.

Some things about this hotel are very dated, need refurb in some areas, but it still looks good in most of the places.
Waiters do a good job, Head waiter Michalis or i hope i spelled it correct - very kind man, give him a raise. Staff in restaurant well trained and polite and the bar staff - Michael, Veronica, Ivon - were fantastic and gave us perfect service. Rooms were basic but were kept very clean, fantastic view. There is no construction whatsoever we read from previous year comments. Food was mainly good but did go out to restaurants a few times.
Evening shows very good, fire show very interessting and crazy.
Pool was big enough, but we spended most of our time by the sea down the road.
Beach is good, sandy and full of russians. Still a nice experience and good a holiday. Will return next year

We are just back from a week half board, family of four, staying in ground floor family room.

We arrived quite late, check in was simple and pure orange on arrival was widely appreciated. After walking up a dimly lit corridor to our room, first impressions were horrific!!!! Very bad paint job, old wooden furniture, badly scrapped. We complained immediately. Didn't seem good enough for a four star hotel. We were told by reception to come back in the morning. Well after our first night, we opened our curtains to a splendid view, we had side sea view and looking on next doors hotel and pool. We also had steps down to our own sunbeds and a few steps down to next doors pool. A beautiful sight.

We decided not to go back up to reception and complain due to the lovely view and our own garden made up for the shabby dated furniture. Well after lunch we had a note to see reception immediately, which we did. They apologised for our room and offered us a modernised alternative, this was a lovely room, but 2floors up. We declined but thought that the hotel was very professional following up our complaint and really couldn't be more helpful.

The rooms are very clean and Our family room had a lovely modern bathroom with soaps and shower gel and shampoo stocked everyday and daily towel changes. The room also had 2small camp beds for our children. The room was very large and we were not cramped at all. We had 13 of us staying at the hotel and my mother inlaw had a standard room for 3adults, they also received a camp bed for the third adult, really not good enough, they complained and a proper bed was put in place. This made the room quite cramped. TIP if three adults in one room, upgrade to family room for space.

We also had a small table and 2chairs indoors and plastic table and 2chairs on patio. We had kettle and tea bags and coffee and sugar supplied daily. Free television but channels varied depending where you room was located. Plenty of space for storage and large wardrobe. Also room had hair dryer which was quite powerful. Our very large bed was 2singles pushed together, but we didn't really mind this.

Room has free air conditioning which was just brilliant, but if you are not all inclusive you have to pay 2euro a day to use the fridge. Also have to pay to use safe. If you are all inclusive, you pay a refundable deposit, which you get back at end of holiday.

Carpets in corridors are in need of a major clean.

Pool area is lovely and clean and well maintained.

Pool bar stocks all drinks and we found reasonably priced, and staff were so friendly and made a huge effort with our children! They have decent pool tables which we used.

Paid for internet, but was just about adequate. Really we expect to have free wifi in the lobby/reception area. Though costa in joined onto the hotel and they have free wifi as do most of the cafés and bars a few minute walk from hotel.

We had family with walking difficulties and found hotels location to be excellent. Few minutes down to beach, with all water sports available. And a few wee beach front cafés if you can't stick the heat. Also a few minutes stroll to the strip, with everything available. There is a chemist not far from hotel if required, also 5minute walk to McDonald's.

The hotels entertainment team were lovely friendly people and really try to involve everyone, though there budget must be very low. These guys could be amazing if given a bigger budget. Though there is a wide range of entertainment on the strip so really spoilt for choice.

The only thing that let this hotel down for us was the food, very very disappointed as we regularly ate out even though we were half board. Breakfast was fine, but lunch and dinner were really disgusting. A lot of us complained and it did get bit better by end of our week, so maybe it will continue to improve.

This hotel could be an excellent hotel if they finish updating all the rooms and change the food. We would DEFINATELY return on b&b basis for the location.

Room tip, side seaview ground floor family room. (Pool view can get very noisy when club sofa sofa is on at weekend until 5:30am)

Room Tip: Side sea view , ground floor , upgrade to family room

The Odessa is a brilliant hotel. The rooms are modern and up to date, with flat screen tvs. Unusual in cyprus. Food is tasty, I dont understand some people why they complained.. From previous reviews i saw few unhappy ones about the food. We realy liked it and it was a good variety and choice every night. The resturant is lovely, greeted with entertainers every night and waiters - George, very polite guy. Good variety and something different each day. Happy days when cheesecake is on :D . Be prepared to wear trousers cause they have strick dressing code. TC REP - very helpful. Fire show was realy outstanding and fascinating. Absolute thumbs up for entertainment team. Will return. We have just returned from 2 weeks all inclusive. It was excellent, the staff were the best I have ever encountered, really friendly and helpful, especially Michal, Veronica, Dimitri and the unforgettable Marlon. Food was delicious, well presented and a very good selection. Entertainment was o.k. The location is ideal, not far from the centre but far enough away to be not bothered by noise. The only downside, Thomas Cooks bus drivers will not drive down to the hotel, so you are dropped at the top of the road and when you are leaving you have to take your cases up there, the roads very uneven and in my opinion quite hazardous.

We stayed at the Odessa as a late deal break away from the 7th to the 14th of May 2014; I travelled with my mother . I had seen all the previous reviews before we went and so I wanted to make sure that I offered you a balanced view. It is a nice hotel, we had no real issues with room 133 which is on the same floor as reception (one floor up from the pool) I found no issues with the pool which was cleaned on a daily basis and the water tested a few times a day. I found some of the sheets and pillowcases to have bobbled and for me that is irritating and I think they should be disposed of. There was the use of a free safe in the room and a fridge that could be used for an additional payment.

There are two restaurant rooms, one is for breakfast and lunch and the other is for dinner. Breakfast is quite typical with a choice of a British fried breakfast (well a non-British view of one) with eggs fried fresh for you if you don’t want boiled or scrambled which is nice) bread, rolls (fresh but not as soft as we are used to at home) and preserves (The cherry was lush), cereals nuts muesli, yoghurts, hams cheese salad etc. Coffee (from machines) a little strong for mum;, tea, juice, milk etc. Dinner is a wait and be seated system; there was always something different to eat at dinner although I did note that one man wasn’t happy and he and his wife chose elsewhere to eat (looked like a steak man to me).

The staff were responsive and polite. I read a comment by someone about them being miserable but they are working and very long hours. I’m sure they have heard everyone’s jokes a million times and they can’t be funny after a while and let’s face it some jokes you have to be drunk to even understand it let alone laugh at it. So I thought they were fine. There were no language issues for us as they all spoke beautifully clear English which appears the common second language.

We had flight delay and arrived late after the restaurant was closed (10pm) so found a lovely Italian restaurant along the strip, IL basilica, (opposite the Sunrise beach hotel) that although ready to shut welcomed us and cooked a wonderful fresh pizza for us. They also introduced us to a beautiful little Cyprian Rose' Santa Marina, medium sweet.

It was a shame not to find a traditional Musuka on the menu at the hotel not even on the Greek night but as on our last night we were leaving late but before dinner we had identified a nice little place just up the strip that satisfied that need.

The beach is just 2 minutes to the rear of the hotel with a lovely prom that is worth walking. There you will find sun beds and parasols on the beach for E2.50 a day, cafe bars etc., a jetty with boat trips and water sports on offer.

Just up from the front of the hotel is "the Strip" turn left and you have shops, restaurants, bars, clubs, Karaoke galore. On that Road we found lovely hair dressers "Tiara" who offers a full beauty service including weddings. Originally from Liverpool, the owner Teresa came to my rescue when my straighteners broke for which I am very grateful.

As mentioned by others there is some building work going on at the rear but this did not interfere at all. Noise.....MMMM yes for us there was noise from the entertainment, but we are early risers and early to bed so this could have been considered a bit of a problem for us however the entertainment was normally over by midnight. In hindsight it might have been better if we just went and watched the entertainment. We knew there was some but it’s not promoted as much as it could have been and once you’re settled for bed you don’t want to get dressed again, well we didn’t anyway. I spotted some of the entertainment from our balcony which looked quite good with a fire dancing display of some sort. There was entertainment for the children who seemed to be having fun. The entertainment team led the typical keep fit exercises in the pool in the morning; there was some game tables, tennis etc.

There were 4 weddings at the hotel in that one week alone; I think consideration needs to be given to there being enough staff to go about. Im thinking about the reception area bar which was unstaffed for some time while the wedding parties were being sorted. Although not to bad this time as its just the start of the season but I can envisage this being difficult later on; however maybe they have that all in hand.

Would I personally go there again?? Probably not but that’s more to do with the fact that I’ve been there and am more likely to choose somewhere new. The other question that has previously been raised is regarding what star this hotel should be. It’s down as a four star and this is echoed by Thomas cook. It is potentially a four. I may not have seen all it has to offer due to this being just the start of the season. Hope this helps.

Room Tip: Rooms that over look the pool on the lower floors are going to hear the entertainment noise.
