“Lack of management”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 August 2014

We were about to arrive late for check-in (9:30 p.m.) in Odessa beach hotel, so upon booking we informed them and requested a late check-in if possible, the next day. When we arrived we asked the receptionist again for a late check-out and she said she would inform us the next morning. Until 11:30 a.m. nobody informed us, so I called the reception again. Another receptionist who did not have a clue about our late check-out, answered us that she would have to ask and call us back. She did call back and said that we could not...so we checked-out and went to the gym for pool towels. The lady there said that she was expecting the towels within 10 mins. We left, went for a coffee and a snack, and came back for towels in 45 mins. She was still waiting for pool towels. She said she always had this towel problem but no body cared to solve this issue (even if they had brand new towels which they kept on closets, as we were informed). We waited there for another 30 mins, and then 5 towels arrived!! When employees can not cooperate with each other and good management is non-existent, then guests surely are not expected to check-out happy.

My sister & myself stayed in Odessa for 2 weeks 30th July-13th August for my birthday upon arrival all the reception staff where there to welcome you and a porter to help with heavier luggage as well as bar staff giving fresh orange juice out to the guests waiting to be checked in, check in procedure was very quick and they have irons to hire etc , The Hotel is well maintained and it is decorated like a ship , the swimming pools are gorgeous and they have lots of sun loungers so you wont be short of a bed , the rooms were nice although the room we got did not look like it did online. (1st floor) the view from the balcony is beautiful! the food was stinking though so it was a waste of money that way for Myself & my sister as we had to eat out every night baring in mind that we are fussy eaters so this is our opinion and some of the food was cold as well in saying all this I would return to Odessa in a heart beat as its set in a beautiful ground with stunning surroundings and Protaras itself is a beautiful place with great bars and very friendly residents oh and the weather is gorgeous!

Room Tip: ask for full sea or pool view as our room was "side sea view" and well this is what we got

This is our third visit to this well run hotel, under the management of Mr. Eric, George, and Miss Koulla.
We stayed slightly earlier this time than the previous two visits and have witnessed the same smooth running whether it be early mid or late season.
Again , we opted for the all inclusive package and again we were not disappointed. The selection and range of food options for breakfast, lunch and evening meal was incredible, well prepared, presented and cooked under the watchful eye of Andreas their head chef, who appeared on occasions cooking at the hotplate or in the restaurant area. There was a better selection of Cyprus/Greek dishes on a more frequent basis.
It was also noticeable . that the manager himself dined in the same area as the guests and at the same time.
If you did not get enough food at the dining times there is a hotplate for brunch and another savoury selection between lunch and evening meal.
The pool bar area was ran mostly in the evenings by Veronica a very capable and pleasant young woman. During the day Demetri entertained everyone, an absolute character whose cocktail mixing skills have to be witnessed personally.

The clientele, mostly families and senior citizens, enjoyed a hassle free stay. There was one occasion when a group of young people entered the kiddies swimming pool, doing no harm I have to say, but nevertheless they were out of place. They were there no longer for ten minutes before being requested to move to the big pool, which they did.
I mention this to illustrate that this is a well run, no nonsense establishment.

Entertainment this year is provided by "One stop entertainment." Last year it was Thomas Cook staff. Whilst I am no critic of artists and theatre performances, I have to say from a personal point of view that the team this year were not as good as the Thomas Cook trio last year or the One Stop team from the previous year.
That said, they were there morning, noon and night and provided a range of activities for children, pool and water activities, to evening entertainment for all ages.

The Thomas Cook rep was available and approachable if any help was needed.
I really can't add much more as I would only be repeating script from my previous reviews.

During our stay we did the Big red Bus trip to Famagusta, I have reviewed this elsewhere as it is worth going on.
I will conclude by recommending this hotel without hesitation and I can give no better recommendation other than to say I have been home forty eight hours now and have booked another week for September this year.

I visited the Odessa Beach Hotel in July 2012. Before visiting the hotel I emailed and requested champagne to be in the room upon arrival. To my Surprise when we got to the room there was champagne and a bowl of fresh fruits which was really nice. There was no fussing around getting our room ready we checked in with reception and were taken straight up to the room. The room itself was perfect, big enough for 2 people really nicely furnished and a stunning balcony view overlooking the sea. We were half board at the hotel as there were plenty of places to eat and drink within a 2 minute walk of the hotel. Including a McDonalds which was literally 5 minutes away! The hotel was perfectly situated right by the beach but far away enough from the noise of any night life which made it even easier to relax. There were a number of small shops, restaurants and bars around the corner from the hotel which made the holiday easier to enjoy as there was no fussing around with cabs or buses. I would definitely visit the hotel again.

I have recently came back from staying at the odessa. It's good points were the location of the hotel and how close it was to the beach, shops, pubs etc. Staff were also friendly and went out there way to help you. One main issue was the food. As a vegetarian and I had paid for the all inclusive package there was not much choice. There was no meat free options such as vegi sausages or burgers. At snack time there would be only bread and chips to eat. Everytime a pizza was made it had ham on it, so couldn't have any. During the evening meal, again not much option and even the salads would have ham in so struggled with the salads. So for most of the holiday had to eat out at night. For next time I would recommended only going half board and saving a few hundred pounds!! Another issue was the entertainment, although the reps were excellent it was poor for adults and children. There was not much choice on and some of it looked like it had been made up the night before. The hotel is lovely but in need of some modernisation. I would rate it a 3*. Overall I would stay here again due to the location and if the food was improved.

We stayed at the Odessa Hotel from the 20th July for 2 weeks. We travelled as a group of 7, mixed ages and this hotel was perfect for us all.
The location couldn't have been better with the beach only a couple of minutes walk away and Fig Tree Bay about a 10 minute walk, which is well worth seeing. The main area of Protaras was literally on your doorstep, with plenty of shops, supermarkets, bars and restaurants.
We were really pleased with the hotel rooms. We were going to pay extra for sea view rooms but glad we didn't as all our 3 rooms overlooked the pool with a side sea view.
We stayed half board which suited us better. The food was lovely with a good selection at breakfast and dinner. We also swapped dinner for lunch on a few occasions so we could eat out in the evening.
All the hotel staff were very friendly and worked really hard. Veronica on reception was extremely helpful and professional.
I also need to mention the entertainment team, Evie, Rita, Yiannis and Shory, who were the nicest people you could ever wish to meet. They worked very long hours, but this didn't stop them always having a smile on their face and being very enthusiastic. There were plenty of daytime activities to keep the kids entertained, including water polo with Yiannis and Shory. There was always something different on in the evenings which kept us entertained.
We would definitely return to the Odessa Hotel again.

Very good hotel, clean, tidy and staff very helpful.

A Little dated and food needs a little important, but worth the money.

Family and I stayed here. Very close to the beach, water sports and the protaras main restaurants and pubs.
