Fig Tree bay when it was less crowded with beach umbrellas and loungers used to be a delight. You could just drop a bag on the fine sand and walk into the lovely warm waters. Then when you were hungry you could find a decent beach side restaurant serving simple but delicious local cuisine.
Now it is packed with tourists like ants on the beach, even in mid-October when we visited it.
Local cuisine has given way to spaghetti bolognaise, pizzas and Macdonalds. But the thing that stuck in my craw was the the ye old Stonehenge pub, complete with artificial stones! In Cyprus? How crass can you get. The local planning authorities should not be allowing this type of development.
