Me and my boyfriend stayed in the Brilliants for 1 week (first time to Cyprus). Had a fantastic time! The Brilliant Apartments are the nicest apartments we have stayed in abroad. The maids cleaned every single day, new refurbed rooms are stunning (all english plugs), biggest beds ever and the pool is fantastic.
The location is ideal - just set back from the main strip (around 5 min slow walk). Also close to Fig Tree Bay which is lovely - so clean and the clearest waters ever (around 10 min slow walk). There is also a Lidl right next door to the apartments.
Protaras strip itself is very good for families - it has lots of karaoke bars and loads of restaurants. If you want a livelier night out - head to Ayia Napa on the bus. Its 1euro wherever you go on the bus and they run back to Protaras until 4am! Don't waste your money on taxis.
I would definitely return to the Brilliant Apartments and recommend them to anyone looking to stay in the Protaras area. Hope to be back again soon.

Room Tip: Only studios get fab ocean and pool view

We have been to the brilliant for 19 years and go every June and September. We knew it was being refurbished over the winter and was really looking forward to getting there. When we arrived it looked so smart and as ever we were greeted by Lenia on reception and after hugs and kisses and welcome back the bomb shell was dropped. We have lost our dear Chris and Soula after 19 years, the heart of the brilliant has gone away, i was so disappointed because in our eye Chris made the brilliant what it was. Michael and George are still there helpful as ever, but there is just no atmosphere at all now, the new bar and restaurant management have a lot of scope for improvement in the way they treat their staff and their customers. For those of you going to this hotel for the first time you will find it to be spotless the only thing i did not like was listening to the half board paying people who were having their evening meal with children, if the children did not like what was on the menu and they wanted something else to eat then their parents had to pay for it which i think is wrong considering they had paid for a half board holiday. It looks like our stay at the brilliant has come to an end after 19 years, the only reason we are going back is because the holiday was already booked. Looks like we have to start searching for a new hotel probably on the strip.

Room Tip: Love the new rooms especially the comfy bed, any problems and reception will sort them as soon as th...

Having read the reviews of this hotel I have to say this hotel is "Brilliant". We were self catering. There is a Lidl across the road to the hotel which is very convenient. We had such a great time, the hotel is spotless, the staff are extremely helpful and can't do enough for you to sort things out should a problem arise. Can't fault this hotel at all. The bed in our apartment was absolutely huge and extremely comfortable. The food was nice too. Highly recommend the steak sandwich and chips!! If you want a good holiday, great weather and somewhere good to take your kids then book this hotel. The First Choice reps are extremely helpful too. One thing I wasn't aware of, on the day we left, we had a lot of creams/lotions/shampoos etc left over and didn't want to waste them, the rep said they had a swap box which we were unaware of. All in all a fantastic place to stay!!

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a big balcony if one is available, theres 3 rooms which have extremely big balco...

We stayed at these apartments end of June, beg of July. They are spotlessly clean, lovely big rooms, we had a ground floor pool facing apt which was great in the morning to walk straight out to the pool!! Cleaners were in every day except I think Sunday, changing towels, making the beds etc. The pool is large, with a seperate children's pool which is also very big! There were usually loungers available at any time of the day. You are not allowed to take your own snacks and drinks to the pool, you are supposed to buy them from the pool bar! There is a Lidl's right next to the apts which was great to buy bread, juice, water etc. Every member of staff in the Brilliant were great, really nice, from reception to the waiters and also Yana, who was the entertainment during the day, playing water polo and volleyball, tennis, quizzes etc! She was really nice, and spoke to everybody and always tried to involve everyone in the games!!

The apts are just a 5 min walk to the main strip, if you cut through the hedge at the back of the apts. There are loads of places to eat and drink, we liked Cheers, TJays, Steens, and there is a nice chinese restaurant near the bottom of the strip which we thought looked quite expensive, but for a family of 2 adults and 2 older children, the bill was less than 50 euros!! On average, a pint of Keo cost 2 euros and 1.80 for a cola etc. There's lots of places that have happy hours where you can get cocktails etc for 2 euros, which we found good value. Also you have the usual KFC, SFC, MacDonalds and Pizza hut, which comes in handy at times for the kids!

There are boat trips you can go on for about 30euros for 4 for a 2 and a half hour trip, and they stop for half an hour and let you swim and snorkel.

The weather when we were there was beautiful, absolutely roasting though, so remember to pack your suncream!!

All in all we loved it and would return tomorrow. Before we went, a lot of people told us how expensive Cyprus was, but we thought it was similar to places we have been before such as Portugal and Majorca. Don't have any hesitation in booking these apts as you will have a ball!!!

We stayed here for 2 wks, last week June - 1st week of July. We were very impressed with the 1 bedroom apartment. It was very spacious, light, airy & extremely clean. The bed was huge. No reason to complain.
Pool area is fantastic. Main pool is a good size & there is a seperate children/family area....even though you will find some in the main pool area.
The hotel is in a great location. Off the main strip so quiet but only couple of mins walk to it. 5 mins to nearest beach & 10 mins to Fig Tree Bay.

Just returned from two weeks at the Brilliant Apartments and can only say it was fab! Beautiful apartments, very clean and modern. We had a lovely pool side terraced room which was perfectly located. Staff all very helpful, especially our Thomson rep Karina. Very good location - 5 minutes walk to the main strip and beach. Good bus serivice to Ayia Napa, only 1 euro for a 25 minute journey.
The only negative is the lack of daytime/evening entertainment. There are 3 acts on during the week, but thats the same everyweek so if your there for 2 weeks you see the same act twice. Im sure more people would have stayed at the hotel bar everynight if there was more varied entertainment. Also even though your self-catering you cant bring your own snacks/drinks round the pool area - only those you can buy at the hotel. They are more expensive than the shops - which is a shame as most families there are self-catering and there is a Lidl supermarket practically next door!
We would definately go back to Brilliant - best start saving!!!!

Room Tip: we requested a ground floor room when we booked.
