I have just returned from a fantastic 7 night stay at the silver sands Hotel with my girlfriend and would thoroughly recommend it...If like me you are currently reading this site before booking or have already booked and are checking other comments please don't worry about people moaning about under cooked sausages and rude staff not to mention the noise as I found all this to be complete nonsence...We stayed on a B & B basis and found the breakfast to be excellent, lots of choice (including sausages that were cooked!!! ) and very friendly staff...as for the noise "yes" you can hear the music from the main strip of bars but nothing worth complaining about as if like me the main reason you booked this hotel is for a central location for all bars and resturants which is sitauted in a stunning location on the beach its too be expected...The beach is beautiful and the pool area is equally as appealing although I do have to admit the annoying towel fairies do get up at stupid o' clock to reserve them something the management does need to look into too but I found the beach 10x more appealing with lots of sunbeds available except that is for the weekends when the locals takeover so be warned and get down there early on sat, suns but the locals are lovely and well mannered and the parasol guy is very helpful in finding you a bed if in any doubt...Dont drink at the hotel bar unless you have won the lottery and go to Happy days supermarket 1 euro for a can of Keo ( Beer) and the strip is all 2 euros for a beer and 2.50 for a cocktail...great value....overall excellent hotel with great staff in a fantastic hotel...have already re-booked for september...oh and by the way if your feeling cheeky like I did one night just throw the poolside towels in the pool when no-ones looking :)

Room Tip: ask for sea view when booking

I stayed at this hotel with my mum, dad, boyfriend, aunt and uncle (in separate rooms obviously!) on B&B board in June this year. The rooms themselves were pretty basic, but overall fairly clean and tidy. However, we all booked a double room as we're all couples and found that it was just two twin beds pushed together! We did have a bit of an ant problem in my room which I did report to reception but I don't think they understood as nothing got done. In addition, they charge you 2 euro a day to use your fridge! If you're staying on B&B like I did, where else are you supposed to store water / soft drinks?! They also require you to leave a 10 euro deposit for the TV remote! They also ask for a 5 euro deposit for the safe! None of our party were aware of these 'hidden costs'. Breakfast was OK, pretty standard (although they do have a chef making omlettes and pancakes on alternate days which were good) but beware the prices at the pool bar!! 4 euro for a glass of coke is outrageous and 12 euro for a chicken and cheese toastie. There are supermarkets right near the hotel, so we just stocked up on drink there and paid to use our fridge instead as this was cheaper. The facilities at the hotel were quite nice. The pool surroundings were very good, always clean and I even saw hotel attendants walking around picking up litter. The government are doing alot of work on the beach front (building a wooden promenade / walkway) and so there were some building works going on but it didn't bother us too much. The loungers on the grass area are uncomfortable and some need replacing. The more comfortable squashy white loungers right next to the pool get reserved with towels way before 7am so you have to get there early! Overall, I've given it a 3/5 as it was pretty standard, nothing special, albeit in a good location for the strip of shops / bars. I'd also add that you can change your sterling into euro locally as you often get a better exchange rate. I saw one shop exchanging sterling for euros at 1.11 whereas back home (from the post office) I only got 1.7 euros per pound.

Room Tip: You could try checking in late or complaining!

me and my partner went on 18th june and found out that weekend the day we arrived was water festival for all the locals .. very busy and very loud..
rooms were ok , but not enough space to put your clothes in , all you get is 1 small wardobe and 2 small drawers . no way near enough room for 2 people to put clothes in . bathroom was bit tired , but the shower was very good and powerful always had hot water . you dont need european plugs when here as all the same as in uk .
me and my girlfriend are both light sleepers and whenyou fancy an early night , all you can hear is the banging of the bar called rockafellers which play copycat dross every night and as most rooms are side inland view , i would not go if i new how noisy and annoying it gets when trying to sleep .
the food was ok but a bit the same each day and restuarant felt like back to school .the so called gym was a joke and they should not even mention they have got one , worst i have ever seen in hotel . the jacuzzi was just a scummy looking bath with the holes in it .dont thin they have ever been down and cleaned it .
my girlfriend complained about the noise to the manager and he upgraded us to a see view room at the illiada next door which was really really lovely , you can tell the difference big time from one place to the next .
had nice holiday , but if you dont like it too noisy in evening i would not stay at silver sands , you definately need a sea view room to combat the outside noises ,
protaras is a lovely place to go and would definately recomend , will be coming back again in few years but not to this hotel .
ps they charge for use of the fridge at 2 euros a day .. i found by using the handle of the teaspoon we had opened it no problem :-0) free of charge hehe

Room Tip: only stay sea view in this place or regret it

Just got back from the silver sands in protaras and would thoroughly recommend the hotel. Have been to protaras seven times and thought this was the best value for money hotel I have stayed in. (last 2 visits stayed at the Illiada next door) Rooms were great, and decorated and finished to a good standard. Maid service was excellent and indeed whole hotel was spotless. As i was only bed and breakfast, as i like dining out everynight, i cant comment on all the meals, but breakfast was very good with many choices. The pool bar was great for lunches and yes i have seen comments that drinks etc were dear, but no more expensive than other hotels. Yes you could get cheaper on the strip but i prefer to dine around the pool area. The pool and the sunbeds were first class. As a walkway is being finished by the beach there was some heras fencing up but at no time did any of the work interfere with my holiday. And the great thing about protaras is that its a nice family/couples resort with no lager louts. Would thoroughly recommend this resort and this hotel

The silver sands is a great hotel. I have stayed there twice now with my girly friends. The hotel has been updated since my first stay but its still just as nice. The rooms are nicely decorated & spacious sleeping 2. All have mod coms inside with a large enough balcony to get 4 chairs on. Plus the maids do a great job and the rooms were always cleaned before lunch
The pool has been updated with 4 poster canopy beds, single or double padded loungers & umbrellas around and plenty of sunbathing space for everyone. Plus the hotel is on the beach too.
This hotel caters for all - we saw every walk of life here and everyone seemed happy in relaxing or taking part in the poolside activities.
The only problem for us was the bar was a little overpriced but with "Happy Days"shop up the road selling cheap drink we didnt mind too much.
The hotel was very accomodating (staff are friendly) with putting all my friends in rooms next to each other in the hotel and being half board they allowed us to swap lunch for dinner so we had Breakfast & lunch paid for and went out on the town for dinner. This was nice of them and ideal for us as the food is delicious and the portions are huge. The hotel even let us eat lunch for free on our last day which was generous of them. Would again go back
