“100% booking again”
Reviewed 19 July 2012

Looking at previous reviews I was worried about noise/ rude bar staff/ ants and possibly having to move rooms however Silver Sands surpassed all expectations. It is a good 3* hotel and my partner and I couldn't have enjoyed our stay there more. The beach and pool area was clean and looked better than other 4* hotels in the area, the room was standard but was cleaned well, and all rooms have some sort of view of the beach. The staff were not rude but with various nationalities ( mainly English and Russian) the language barrier may be contrived as "rude". The location of the hotel is fantastic.
Downsides to this hotel; There is some noise from the bars off the strip but this is expected and stopped quite early; the pool is taken over by locals later on in the day ( again i think most hotels in the area have this) and there isnt much going on at night in the hotel, however we were not bothered as there were other places to eat and drink on the night.
Silver Sands is fantastic for a 3*hotel, we are booking again for next year as the price/location/and standard of the hotel is well worth the money. ( We would also reccommend Hippo Campus for food on the main strip)

We went to silver sands last year and love our experience, Location hotel weather and Cyprus in general.

Room 110 was fine, Very noisy lift but soon got used to it along with a shower leaking from above ....

Maids are great clean the room well and are polite. Resturant Staff are a little grumpy except a few of the ladies are very polite and smiley. When asking one of the gents if the water in the breakfast buffet was bottled type or local water he replied ' I VE NOT IDEA' shrugged and walked off, he made not effort to say ill find out for you, you wouldnt mind but he was there last year as well. very rude and unfriendly.

the breakfast was fine, i wouldnt go all inc here theres to many nice bars and resturants our favourites are only fools and horses, Cheers , Georgia, La basicota, Resturant on beach near rising star, porkys. i wouldnt bother with island affair (epensive) and chineses!!!

The breakfast room and area really needs some fly control ie: a light or sticky tape type as flys are constantly bugging you whilst eating.

pool area is very clean, 1st floor toilets flithy!

sunbeds are available if your up early on weekends. the hotel really need to improve and stop locals and other holiday makers from other apartments villas etc taking up all the sun beds, its reall unfair on guests at the hotel when you have paid a large amount of money and expect to be able to get a sunbed and peace by the pool.

Entertainment by pool was rubbish , entertainer seemed to favourised certain people and never asked the english to join in.

i love this hotel and cyprus and protaras is perfect but silver sands you need to address some of these things.

id defo return again , cyprus and this resort is just lovely.

Thank you to the polite staff and hard working maids!

:0)

Room Tip: We found the 1st floor is best

Just got back from this hotel , july 2012 ,had a great time in Protarus , however a few things you should be aware off .
The hotel is in great location , couldn't fault it ...right on the beach and the strip...
The pool area and outdoor eating area are fine no issues there , but the pool is small , so more off a beach hotel ..
The rooms are very small , and very worn , the cleaners do the best they can , but it all looks tired ... Air con good though ...
Food - the first couple of days was shocking .... Really bad , all aspects , then suddenly chefs were wearing hats and checking what was going on , think management had received some complaints ...marked improvement , however choices were limited as you would expect from any all inclusive ...
Entertainment -there was none ...... So if you are expecting to sit in the hotel all night prepare to be bored , like a ghost town .. You have to walk to the strip (2 mins) spend some money in the bars. Lots going on here , in fact the location of the hotel saved the holiday , if not the wallet !!!, to summarise - would I go back to protarus ? yes without a doubt , would I. Go back to silver sands ? Never ! , so many better quality hotels at the same price , would stay b&b and use the restaurants , prices very good , bars aplenty on the strip .... Quick mention about the Russians ..... A bit rude but that's just their way... Whole hotel is geared up for them with Russian waitresses etc ..... Save you money go somewhere else - or if you have booked take some extra money for the bars and restaurants ..........p.s travel a lot , so have a good idea about what standards should be ...

Stayed at this hotel 2years ago and enjoyed it so much we wanted to return.
2 days into our holiday, my partners parents who joined us for the 1st week, were offered a room upgrade by note under the door and could they see the manager the day after. The hotel stated they had double booked some rooms, could they move my partners parents to another hotel for 2 days. I smelled a rat and said to the manager Magda, this is because you use the hotel to the locals at weekends, she said this was not the case anymore. My partners parents refused to move from us.

On Sat and Sun you can not move for loads of kids taking over the pool and locals taking over the sunbeds.

I witness hotel staff putting out towels on sunbeds and the maitre'd selling these sunbeds to locals.

When I mentioned to reception, they said people from the capital pay good money to use hotel factilies. Never mind hotel guest's have also paid very good money to stay at Silver Sands, and made to feel we were in the way on Sat's & Sun's.

I even have photograhic evidence.

My advice, do not book this hotel and stay well clear unless you like feeling second best on your holiday

Room Tip: do not book here, choose sunshine pearl instead or sunrise beach

stayed at the silversands in june and i have to say i was rather disapointed, the hotel from the outside looks very impresive and grand , but when you get to your room things begin to change. our bed quilt was not big enough for the double bed and the sheets did not fit either, our room was no 314 and got some noise most nights from the bars just at top of road, we were half board and i really wished we had gone on bed and breakfast as the food was dreadfull, not enough choice and they seem to caiter for the large amount of russian and german visitors. we eat most nights in the island affair if only to be able to eat some food that we could actually recognise. the location is the best part of the hotel you are only 2 minutes from the beautiful beach with crystal clear warm water. cyprus is very special to me and my husband and i may one day return to silversands but it will only be on b/b

Room Tip: rooms at the front of the hotel will get less noise from the bars and the south side is most sunny

we stayed from 20th june for two weeks. weather brilliant. too warm really. everything about the hotel was first class except where our room was. it was number 134 on the first floor. quiet during the week but from friday to sunday music never stopped until 2 a.m. it was overly loud. you would have thought it was in your room. not the hotels fault. it was coming from bar across road. our room was a bit shabby but clean with ripped wallpaper on walls. the only visitors we had were ants but reception were not interested and said they would tell the maid. overall hotel was first class for being three star. location excellent but too noisy at weekend. locals come to the pool area every saturday and sunday. very hard to get sunbeds.
