Spent an all-inclusive holiday here and it was all really great. Food choice was good and the drinks were plentiful. The rooms are quiet and the pools so inviting.

The entertainment was superb, both day and night.

Definitely recommend it

Room Tip: Side sea view rooms are fine

We have just returned from two weeks from the Pernera Beach Hotel and it was needed to write a review on this hotel.... (Room 381 - 29/6/14 to 13/7/14)

Arrival - We arrived at around at around 11pm on 29/06/14 and the welcome we received at the reception was wonderful. Check-in was quick and very friendly, Stavros checked us in and could not do enough for us and made us feel very welcome. Told us bar still open, go and get a drink and relax!

Bedrooms - We had requested a sea-view premier room and was not disappointed, rooms were very spacious and a massive king size bed was much appreciated, we also had bath robes and slippers even tho it was far to hot to wear the robes, but nice touch. The room was spotless and bathroom was a good size including a bath and a shower. The cleaner attended our room everyday with fresh towels, the cleanness of this hotel is amazing! There is a safe in the room which is free of charge, also Wi-Fi available for free!

Food - Breakfast at the Pernera is of excellent quality, there is plenty to choose from and the breakfast area outside is a great place to start of your day. Breakfast gets busy between 8:45 - 9:30 so we found 8:00 suited us better.

Food - Lunch at the Pernera is also of good quality situated in a different dining area we wonderful views of the bay if you are seated outside. The food is general for an all inclusive holiday with hot and cold choices and always something that suited us. The same goes for the evening meal and great choice of foods was welcomed.

Bar - (where we spent most of our time) - the pool bar staff are amazing Mike and Anna were friendly and gave a brilliant service throughout the holiday..... think they got used to us asking for large vodka's small fanta orange after a few days!!!

Entertainment Team - Laz, Kitti, Neil and Olivia were just brilliant, they worked none stop throughout the day, taking time out to chat and have a laugh. No pressure throughout the day to try and make you join in the activities, which was nice not to be hassled into things that you don't want to join in with. (Thanks Neil for the free certificate for Alan!) The holiday was very enjoyable, very hot which meant mainly staying around the pool to cool off. You have beach towels given upon arrival and these can be changed every three days, sunbeds are not the most comfortable though, but we had lilo's so we just lay these onto of the sunbeds to make it more comfortable. There are plenty of beds for everyone, was not one day where we could not get a spot around the pool.

I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a friendly hotel, with no hassle. Our holiday came to an end far too quickly, that's because we were enjoying ourselves so much the days just flew by.

Would we stay again???? - a big fat YES! Thanks for all staff at the Pernera Beach for making it a wonderful holiday <3.

Hotel staff were great and took special care to give me suitable food to meet my dietary needs. Both waiting and cooking staff had good knowledge of Gluten Free food items.

Bar service was quick and staff well trained on customer care.

Room Tip: Best to get room with sea view and at higher level to appreciate the seascape

We spent the last week of June at Pernera Beach Hotel. Two adults. Two teenagers (16 & 18). Newly refurbished. Family owned. The owner constantly walks the premises and ensures everyting is ok. Prior to intro of All Inclusive concept 80% of the guests had stayed there before. now the rate was 40%. Still amazingly high. From the minute we set foot in the reception 0200 in the morning after a 5 hour flight from Norway till we left one week later, we were constantly met with big smiles from every member of staff. Strange place in a way. Guests from every category. Family, couples, old, young. 50% brits. 30% russians. The rest a mix of Scandinavians and other nations. Experienced as perfect harmony.
Rooms newly refurbished. Light modern decor. Beware - the sentral section of the hotel has bigger rooms than the two wings - in case you can choose.
The food was great. Good selection to fit our different tastes - incl one of us being a vegetarian. The hotel is smaller than other big resorts we have visited. As a consequence the restaurants / buffets were much less noicy and messy than what they can be. Management allowed one complimentary dinner at the ala carte restaurant. Their tender steak is recommendable !
The drinks in the bar must have been watered down a bit - or our pre lunch coctails would have caused a flat out.. :)
One pool only. OK. Never too crowded. The alternative is a 50m walk down to the bay / beach. 200 meter walk to beach water activities like jet skies, paragliding, tubes etc. Price negotiable if you buy more than one activity.
Animators (activity leaders) did a great job offering fun activities. Water polo, volley ball, french boule, darts, pool, table tennis etc. Daily tournaments that led to a lot of good laughter and a positive atmosphere around the pool. I returned home with two diplomas for the matel piece..
Short walk to the nearby village and a 45 minute sea side walk to the next town.

All in all highly recommendable. Would we go there again and join the 40% of second timers ?YES.

Room Tip: Ask for the central part of the hotel where there are bigger rooms. We had a wing room facing East...

Just returned from 2 weeks at this hotel. Late May, early June Holiday. Family of four.

As we all know, travelling, especially with kids isn’t easy and even when you get to the hotel, you may be with a large group who also get off the coach wanting to check in as well. We arrived about 11pm so we were all pretty tired.

However, something happened that I’ve never encountered before in a hotel. We were given a fantastic welcome by Stavros who said there was no rush and feel free to go to the bar, leaving our bags there.

Result!

Therefore, after travelling for many hours, we had a chance to chill out in the bar area and could go and check in at our leisure an hour or so later. This was very much appreciated.

After an hour or so we went to ‘check in’ and get our room.

There was about 10 other people doing the same thing but there were 3 staff on hand and all went pretty quickly. Stavros is certainly a character and very welcoming.

Another good start was that we all got free wifi for a week (normally 41 Euros for a week) and a free meal at the restaurant which there is normally a charge for. Could be the usual thing but it was a nice touch.

Room

Our room was a family room of course and first impressions were that it was very clean and quite modern. Tea / Coffee making facilities, free to use safe, fridge and a very large main bed and the balcony was a good size and more importantly, safe for our 3 year old to be on. Aircon very powerful. Large screen TV mounted on the wall gave a reasonable variety of channels in various languages. No kids channel though which was disappointing. When you are getting ready to go out for dinner, it would have been handy for the kids to be entertained by the TV.

Next morning, we had the chance to see our view and to be honest, it wasn’t the best. All rooms odd numbered 151 onwards are at the back. The view as such is only a supermarket and another complex which is an empty shell. Not the most inspiring view.

However, the good bit is that from about 1pm to about 7pm the balcony is a sun trap and lovely for chilling out on with pre dinner beer / glass of wine. Family rooms have a larger ‘roof’ as well.

Bit of advice, be careful of the wind! The wind can howl through the corridor if you have the patio doors slightly open and the main door can be very difficult to open! This may have not been the case for every room but it’s noticeable.

Breakfast / Lunch/ Dinner

Breakfast is served up until 10am. There is a good variety of food. Cereal / Fruit and Fry ups are all there and regularly replaced. Good selection of juices and tea / coffee. Staff are very attentive and when we arrived for breakfast they always made sure we had a high chair for our youngest.

It’s a pretty good breakfast selection. No complaints from me or my group. Can get a bit samey but arguably, you probably have the same thing at home as well.

Lunch

This is served at the restaurant. Again this would range from good to excellent. You can sit in the open air part and have a nice view of the bay. Wine / Beer and soft drinks are freely available.

Dinner

Served in the same place as lunch. Again, a good variety of food. Sometimes you will find a dish that is a bit unusual – Chicken Sweetcorn and Fruit pie (!) springs to mind but again, no complaints from me.

I didn’t find the deserts that appetising but that’s just me, plenty of people were tucking in.

I’ve seen a few people have made comments about some food being recycled from breakfast. I’ve got no problem with this at all to be honest.

There is a sign near where you give your room number (for dinner) which details the menu. There is also a note about dress code. This is not enforced at all which is a good thing.

Pool / Sun bed / Bar

Pool

Kid’s pool and the main pool are clean and well maintained. I’ve seen some pictures of a bridge across the pool but this is no longer there. Like most pool areas, it can be very slippery. Perhaps some sort of water fountain may have made it a bit more exciting for the kids.

Sun beds by the pool get snapped up very quick (normally all gone by 10am). There is a good amount spread around the hotel though. You can get towels provided. They will change them every 3 days which is just the right amount of time (you only use them on the sun beds) but don’t lose them; there’s a 20 euro charge for lost ones.

Bar

A reasonable variety of drinks. Beer wise, Leon and a local brew on tap but you have to have a plastic cup if you take it out of the bar area. As for other drinks, it’s debatable how ‘strong’ they are however. Then again, a free bar with then serving doubles could result in a very messy evening.

There is a snack bar as well next to the bar. Personally, I found this pretty good. All included of course. Kept the kids happy. Sort of school dinner type fare (the nice school dinners that you remember, not the bad ones!)

Entertainment

Kitty and her gang are there every day to keep the guests entertained. There is a kid’s disco which keeps the little ones happy. They really need to vary the music though. You won’t be able to get some of the tunes out of your head for days after you come back.

They do get some singers in most days. I would say they are mostly “came fifth on the X Factor” type quality but they keep the bar area entertained.

I won’t give any real negative feedback on the entertainment. It’s there to serve a purpose and it meets that.

Location

As someone who has been to the Fig Tree Bay / Protaras area twice before, this is definitely a quieter part. However, there is a well stocked supermarket virtually opposite the hotel and there is the usual ‘pubs’ and restaurants up the road (about a 5-6 minute walk). There is a cash point about a 10 minute walk away.

Protaras is walkable but it’s about a 25 – 30 minute walk away via the recently built walkway.

The restaurant has a nice view of the beach area. The beach area is quiet (ish) and there is the usual Pedal boats and Paragliding and speedboat / Jet Ski hire.

Overall

It’s a very nice hotel, staff are superb for the most part. Food is pretty good. I can’t give it 5 stars as there are a few niggles but if I could, I would give it a 4.5 but 4 stars will have to do. Some of the party I went with are going back next year which is an indication of how good we felt with was.

Room Tip: Rooms facing away from the pool (odd numbered rooms) are sun traps from 1pm onwards.

My husband and I stayed at the Pernera Beach for a week in mid June, we booked the hotel on the basis of it being a 4 star First Choice "Premier" Hotel. We arrived very late at night and as there were quite a number of guests checking in at the same time as us we were not offered any food or drink on arrival but were glad to find a bottle of water in the room's fridge.

Our room had a nice partial sea view overlooking the pool. The air con in our room could not be turned down below a certain temperature so it took a while to cool the room. The room had a very small en-suite with shower cubicle, no bath. The safe in room was free and there was enough storage space for 2 people.

Food - the breakfasts were very good and there was a reasonable choice of food at lunch and dinner, although I did not see many vegetarian dishes. We did find if we went to lunch or dinner later some of the food stopped being replenished so there was less choice than if we had dined earlier. We found the buffet restaurant had a canteen like feel and was extremely busy during every visit, I noticed unsupervised children sticking their fingers in the self service ice cream several times during the week, very unhygienic!

Drinks - Only one main bar which doubles as pool bar and we did not have to queue for drinks for very long. Limited cocktail choices made with locally produced alcohol, they were extremely sweet, weak and I was never tipsy once from the hotel drinks (and I hardly drink alcohol at home). We went to bars in Protaras to get a "proper" drink. My husband tried the beer at the hotel which he said was ok. We did not see much of the entertainment but there was kids discos, bingo, live music acts etc in keeping with a small hotel.

The pool area was extremely busy/noisy so we sunbathed on the quieter grass area where there are nice sea views. The grounds of the hotel are fairly small and there is a public beach next to the hotel (sunbeds/parasols on beach are chargeable). The area directly outside the al a carte restaurant has sunbeds and we thought as hotel guests we could use this area. After sunbathing there for a while a waiter told us to move as the area was only for guests using the al a carte restaurant. There were no signs to advise us this which I pointed out to the waiter (although I did notice signs were put up a day or two later) and as it was mid-morning by then we struggled to find free sunbeds elsewhere in the hotel grounds.

All staff at the hotel were polite and friendly but we have found this at all hotels we have visited across the world. Beach towels are available at the hotel but you can only exchange for fresh towels every 3 days. Protaras is approx 40 mins walk along the coastal boardwalk which we enjoyed in the evenings, and only 1.50 Euro each way on the local bus service. Take plenty of insect repellent, my husband was bitten by mozzies but I plastered myself in repellent which did the trick!

In my opinion the hotel was fairly average overall, the official rating for this hotel is 3 star which I agree with, I would not class it as a "Premier" Hotel as we have stayed at many 4 star hotels across the world which have all been superior to the Pernera Beach and better value for money.

We arrived back from the Pernera Beach Hotel at the end of June arriving back to rainy Manchester to end what was a fantastic holiday.

From day one all the staff at the Pernera Beach Hotel made us feel extremely welcome. We didn't arrive at the hotel until around midnight on our day of arrival. Tired and exhausted, we were delighted to hear from the chap on reception that we had a toastie and drink waiting for us in the pool bar - To say we were delighted by this would be an understatement.

Next we were given a brief overview of the hotel services and ammenities which included being told about the one free night at the on site a la carte restaurant Thalassa before checking into our room.

Our room was big and spacious, all decorated to a high standard, a TV which had both ITV and BBC (great when the World Cup was on) and a ‘Limited Sea View' which was far from limited - We overlooked the pool and a sea view to the right, couldn't have been better.

We have to say that the staff at Pernera Beach are a credit to the owner, all friendly, chatty and welcoming they really can't do enough for you - We would especially like to thank Mike on the pool bar who always knew our favourite cocktails, Maruis in the restaurant who always welcomed us with a smile and chatted to us about our day and Kitty who was the star of the entertainment team.

As for the rest of the holiday some of our top tips would be:

1. If you want to eat out make sure you visit the ‘La Cultura Del Gustro’ restaurant up the street (no more than a 2min walk) we ate there twice having steak in JD sauce and crab and lobster ravioli pasta and a bottle of wine all for under €49. Not only that the table service was impeccable and the ambience second to none.

2. We rented a car for 3 days through our tour rep - perhaps we spent a little over the odds and could have got a better deal if we shopped around there’s plenty of car rental places just up the road, we also bought full tank of petrol and gave it back half full despite visiting Nicosia, Fig Tree bay and Knossos.

3. If you like beaches Fig Tree Bay is only around 10 mins from the hotel, with crystal clear waters and golden sand it’s definitely worth a visit - some of the views could rival that of the Caribbean.

4. Another beach for the beach lovers is Knossos which we personally found even better than Fig Tree bay as it’s not as crowded with tourists - Knossos is very well known among the locals and much quieter - Not only that the waters are crystal clear and shallow - you can walk out a good mile and a half and still be standing.

All in all we had a perfect holiday and couldn't have wished for better, anyone thinking of booking should book in confidence knowing they're in for a great time. I believe the occupants of Pernera are made up of 40% returning customers which tells you a lot about the experience of this place. Utterly fantastic.

Thanks to all who made our stay so special.

Room Tip: 1. If you want to eat out make sure you visit the ‘La Cultura Del Gustro’ restaurant up the street...
