Honest review.

Firstly we paid £500 extra for a family suite sea view for our stay, upon arrival at around 11pm we could not see anything from the balcony/terrace, however in the morning our view was in fact of the filthy roof of the breakfast restaurant with part of the sea on the horizon which is extremely disappointing since the pictures do not show such a poor view. With this fact the terrace and space we had booked could not be used and also had cigarette dimps and tissues on it which stayed there for the duration of the holiday as the cleaners to not clean the floors. The double, sofa bed turned out to be a single sofa bed laid out for my son with a chair at the side. Another issue was at such a late time of night we asked for a bottle of water only to be told we have to pay 2.5 euros for it or get a bottle and fill it up with a pumped machine with water? I have been all over Cyprus and other countries all inclusive and never had to pay for a bottle of water – this is very poor. The fact you are not allowed to take drinks up to the rooms and are left with sachets of coffee and on most days no milk nor clean cups is also something that you need to note. The water situation was made worse in the fact they informed us we have a fridge in the room which is great, so the water I bought could be kept in there, only to return to our rooms every day and the maids remove the power card so the fridge is warm. Again I had to complain to reception about this but they said you are apparently not supposed to leave the power card on in the room – this again defeats the object of the fridge and ruining whatever I have had to pay for. The rooms are of terrible standard with us being able to hear the people in next rooms talking or tvs on all the time. Whilst we appreciate that you do hear noise in hotels, in the first week after 7 days it was that unbearable we had to go down to reception at 2am in the morning due to someone having their television blaring and keeping my 8 year old son awake all night. This wasn’t even from the room next door but somewhere on the floor above which the night staff spent half an hour trying to track where the noise was coming from. We were informed that since we are in a family section of the hotel their will obviously be noise, which I could not believe was stated as we are a family and stay in family sections but its not the children who were blaring tvs all night til early hours of the morning. Despite this we aimed to stay put and make use of the room which we had paid so much for. We were informed that the family next door were moving out that day and it was a Cypriot couple moving in – this is after being told it was the family section? That night at 3am in the morning I was woken with the man next door screaming and singing which led to me having to get up and bang on his door to tell them to be quiet. This couple were only staying the one night and another Cypriot couple stayed 2 days later to which I was up banging on the door at 4 in the morning due to the tv blaring.
The staff were very nice at this hotel, but after the complaints over the noise constantly, the reception staff soon decided they did not want to be as warm towards us any longer.
The food in general was good, but due to the stale cereals I had to purchase my own and bring it down for my son every morning. The bowls are like metal dog bowls and cups plastic at breakfast, with warm drinks provided at the bar in the evening and daytime as they don’t keep anything in fridges barring the milk. Very poor that we purchased our own drinks from the supermarket instead.
I specifically booked the hotel as it had mini football as advertised. Upon arrival when we spoke to the animation team they said that they do not permit football due to it being dangerous? The grass area they would not allow goals on so the pitch that was locked up was not allowed to be used unless someone opened this up for the tennis or the archery. Again such a disappointment with items being advertised and not being given the choice to do them.
The pool area is a danger as the kids pool was constantly getting blocked and overflowing the walkways where everyone was slipping, the ridge tiles around the pool are all lifted and uneven, I had to go to reception and the pool towel man on 5 occasions over these matters, where they just moved a “no diving” sign on top of the danger area. The sunbeds are also dangerous as twice the back broke due to rusted bolts and all the pool man did was remove to try and fix it and get another one from somewhere else.

The massive plus for this hotel is the staff and especially the animation team Laz, Olivia, Mike and Kitty - they are a blessing and to be fair their activities in the day are brill and they work really hard. They are an asset to the hotel which I think would be a sham without them.

I booked this based on the review stats on Trip Advisor and thought it would be worth the £3800 for 2 adults 1 child, but after staying in so many other places in Cyprus 4 and 5 star for less, I cant help but feel very dismayed.

Room Tip: Avoid paying the massive expense for Family suites especially room 156 and the first floor altogethe...

Spent 11 nights at the Pernera Beach Hotel towards July 2014.
Arrived late at night to be greeted by one of the best check in experiences I've ever had. Very polite and informative staff of reception. Was also informed to go & see the bar staff & they will rustle up some toasted butties (Nice little touch after a long journey) and a few beers.
Was given room 321 which was ok but needed more wardrobe space and more pillows for the bed (Which in my opinion was very uncomfortable) Awoke the next day to a fantastic view of the pool and a the sea.
You need your door room card o operate the power in your room, Your door and also the lifts.
The pool area looks small on photographs & I thought we may struggle but to be honest it was fine.
The pool bar was brilliant all the staff were excellent very polite and helpful.
This being an A/I I was dreading the drinks being watered down but I found them to be spot on from lager/beers to all spirits. Nothing was to much trouble for the staff.
The hotel backs out onto the coast which is very rocky, But there is a small sandy cove just at the side of the hotel or a lot better larger cove by turning left and walking a few mins.
There is a coastal path which you can walk which will take you in to Protarus but in the mad heat of July seen to take ages.
The sunbeds around the pool were snapped up like lightening but there was plenty of room on the grass which had a better breeze in the very hot sun.
The wifi is vey hit and miss but is free, Get password from reception. You can pay £42.00 and have it in your room but its poor.
The air con in our room was FANTASTIC.
Also free safe.
Pernera is only a small resort has a few bars and restaurants.
Had a lovley day on a yellow boat trip around the coast, You can book it with a lady were the taxi rank is in Pernera cnt.
Had a walk into Protarus which was busier and I thought was great. Lots to do and see. They even had an open cinema.
The buses are cheap as chips £1.50 each way to Protarus or anywere for that matter.

Now for the negative bits:
The food is dreadful (Apart from breakfast which was brilliant). Every evening meal and dinner was the same PORK PORK PORK, Even the chicken looked like PORK. It was the same rubbish every night. Not much choice and nothing that stood out. Food from the previous day was saved and reused. The deserts were shocking and not much choice. Plenty of times I walked out due to lack of quality.
The self service of drinks was fine tho.
Fig Tree Bay is just rammed with locals and nothing special.

All in all a good holiday only let down by not having a great beach and the shocking food.
Well done to the staff of the Pernera beach who was great but I wont be rushing back.

Room Tip: Try to get see views there amazing on the higher floors

One of the best hotels I've stayed in! Situated in a lovely area!
We arrived late at night and were still able to have a bite to eat and a drink which was great after the distance travelled. We arrived to reception where we received full facility explanation and a guide of where everything was.
All staff were very friendly, very helpful, always had a smile on their faces and couldn't do enough to help you! I can't fault anything.
The rooms were very clean and modern. An excellent service! Pool area was also very clean!
There was a variety of foods which meant there would always be something there for your taste, which was brilliant!
The entertainment was also brilliant! A variety of fun games during the day e.g water polo, volleyball and many more! Evening entertainment was also good!
Our visit to Pernera Beach Hotel was faultless! Staff and service were exceptional! Wonderful experience! Would definitely recommend this hotel, will definitely be paying another visit in the future.

Had a lovely time at the Pernera Beach Hotel in late July. Room was clean, modern and had all facilities you would expect albeit the bathroom was in need of an upgrade/modernisation but clean nonetheless. The entertainment team were great and did their best to generate a buzz during the evenings, especially Mike and Kitty. There was a good mix of foods at the international buffet and the free meal at the Thalasso Bistro was a welcome surprise. If returning to the Protaras side of Cyprus, I would definitely consider staying at this hotel.

We have just returned from a glorious two week holiday at the Pernera Beach Hotel. 44 family and friends witnessed our marriage at the hotel on 28/07 - it was just perfect. Mr Doros, the team plus our wedding planner Sheena could not do enough for us. As soon as we arrived we were treated to first class customer service. A mix up with our rooms, which was down to Thomsons, was even resolved by the hotel swiftly. I could not rate this hotel more highly. This is most certainly not a 3 star, the food, staff, cleanliness, entertainment was much, much better than what we received at a 5 star hotel in Mexico. We will most certainly be returning here to see all the friendly staff again! Thank you to all for making our dream wedding come true.
