We stayed here on 20-27 May and also got married here. When we arrived early hours of the morning we were given our rooms and found that we were not on the same floor as my sister and husband and my mum and dad and also we had not be givent he correct room. We asked the man behind reception and he said we would be upgraded in the morning. We got to our room which was right at the end of the hotel overlooking the building works, we could hardly see the sea. We found it was not very safe for our 2 young children as there was a window just above a dressing table which the kids could of easily climbed onto and fallen 3 storeys out of the window as there was no balcony underneath it, this meant we couldnt have the window open at all. We were woken at 6am from building works which Thomson didn't mention were still going on and were supposed to be finished by April 2012!

The view was rubbish considering we were a wedding couple. My sister and mum had a lovely room-full sea view and side sea view, ours was classed as a limited sea view. My mum had booked and paid for a full sea view and 2 side sea views which is not what we got.
We complained the next morning as being a wedding couple you expect to be put in a nice room and location especially when we told Thomson we were a wedding couple, which apparently the Hotel didnt know anything about!
We were told that the hotel was fully booked and that there was nothing they could do about it. We spoke to the Thomson rep who made a few phone calls and also told us there was nothing he could do. I was so upset we were shoved at the back of the hotel considering we booked as soon as the holidays came out back in May 2011!!
In the end we went into my sisters room who had the full sea view and they went into my mums room and my mum and dad ended up in our original room which was 326 as they said they didnt want any kids staying there as it was dangerous.
The hotel reception staff were rude and useless about the whole situaution, either Thomson or the hotel had not linked our rooms so we were all on the same floor and next to each other which is what we asked for at the time of booking. Everytime my mum rang to confirm the rooms were close to each others Thomson/Thomas Cook told us that the hotel know were a wedding couple and it will be sorted out when we get there!

However the food was lovely, lots of choice.Entertainment was appalling, just a man sat on the piano in the lounge area of the hotel, kids club was just a table with crayons etc on in the inside pool area.
Rooms were clean and tidied daily, hotel was clean.
Was'nt really a child friendly hotel, people in the restaurants stared at you for taking your children in to eat!

Would'nt return here just for the fact the hotel or Thomson are obviously over booking people and cannot get the bookings right!!

Have written a big letter of complaint to Thomson, awaiting reply.

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view room, these are lovely. Or a room away from building works and make sure you get...

This is a great hotel, went here last year 2011 around June time and considering booking up again this year as not been anywhere quite like it since.

Accommodation - double room with plenty of space for our 1 and 2 yr old, side view overlooking street, shops and bars, noise didn't bother any of us including the kids. Room air conditioned and very cool with adequate bathroom facilities.

Location - the best we have been to with small children, right on the beach with access to boat hire, jet ski's and so on. Took the kids out for an hour on the speedboats and fairly reasonable prices. Restaurants round about cater well for the kids and there are parks situated beside most of the restaurants or small slides and children's indoor play equipments in others, this was great for getting a break to eat whilst the kids played and we could see them at all times. Plenty to do in the resort itself with a street full of shops, bars and restaurants all within easy walking distance, pretty much unbeatable.

Food - in this resort we failed to find anywhere that had food we didn't like, great range of food from Greek, Cyprus to Turkish cuisine, the kebabs where to die for and nothing like back home. The food in the hotel was amazing and the best we had abroad with a great selection of soups, meats, kids selections and sweets.

Pool Areas - clean and well maintained with a lovely pool bar serving drinks and snacks right beside the beach. You book your sunbeds and keep these for the duration of your stay, we had one right beside the pool bar with views of the beach. Mostly grassed areas so good for kids to run around. There are some nice touches like cold towels being handed out for your head and slices of melon to cool down.

To summarise a top class hotel with nothing to complain about, right on the beach in an excellent location, will definitely be back as keep comparing this place to every holiday we've had afterwards and nothing comes close to this hotel or resort.

Room Tip: We had a spacious side double room overlooking the service entrance ramp and on to the shops and bar...

We went to the Sunrise beach on 13th May for our wedding and the hotel and its staff were fantastic.

We were upset when we first arrived as were given a side inland view overlooking a building site- the sister hotel next door was being built however after complaining we were moved to a side sea view after 2 days.

The food was exceptional within the hotel and all the staff very helpful towards us as we were travelling with 12 week old baby.

Georgia the hotel wedding co ordinater was fantastic as was the thomsons wedding rep charlotte.

Our wedding day was perfect and all of our guests had a fantastic time, we had our reception in a local taverna called romeos and it was half the price of the hotel for food and drink.

The hotel drinks are very expensive compared to the main strip so we did not really drink within the hotel.

You can eat at a greek restarant along the main strip as part of the half board option and you can choose from the full menu, the food here was also amazing. We also ate within the reef bar which is part of the hotel however the service was not great, it took 3 hours to have a two course meal and there was only 3 tables eating however only one member of staff working however the food was good.

The pool is amazing and allocation of sunbeds for full two weeks was a bonus, we mamaged to secure a spot by the pool and with shaded area for baby, this was great as we knew this was ours for 2 weeks.

We got a present off the hotel for our wedding which was tandem parasailing which was amazing and once in lifetime experience.

Justine behind the bar was fantastic and very friendly lady, we will be back next year to visit as sister getting married in protaras.

Would 100% recommend this hotel for weddings, the views are amazing from the wedding area and wedding reps very helpful.

Room Tip: Request sea view or partial sea view room.

Me and my boyfriend have just returned from Cyprus. We spent a wonderful week at Sunrise Beach hotel, Protaras. Clean rooms, lovely beach, crystal clear water in the sea, a very nice hotel garden with sunbeds for free and mainly - amazing food. Excellent breakfasts and absolutely fabulous dinners. Big choice of starters and main courses, great desserts and the best soups we have ever eaten. Many thanks to Ajith, the chef, for the culinary experience he had been preparing for us every evening. Ajith, your lamb/chicken/grilled vegetables/risotto/bulgur/coconut sauce/all the glutenfree food were unforgettable and we are looking forward to you emailing us your recipes ;)
The only negative comment we could make would be about our room. We had a side sea view, unfortunately not to the side of the sister hotel Sunrise Pearls (the quiet side), but towards the "wedding summerhouse" and the main road. Horrible noise in the evening (from weddings) and at night till 1 am (disco across the road with the worst DJ in the world). We could not sleep even with earplugs. After 4 nights we were moved to a front sea view room and since that point our holiday was just perfect. Front sea view rooms are absolutely quiet and have a breathtaking view. If you are not so much after the view and just want to be able to sleep at night, a side sea view towards Sunrise Pearl will be fine as well, as these rooms have triple glazed windows. Just beware of rooms on the opposite side (side sea view overlooking the hotel garden), where the windows are only double glazed and the noise from weddings and night clubs is really big. But if you manage to get a quiet room, nothing else can spoil your holiday at Sunrise. Cleanliness, perfect services, friendly staff. What more can you want. We would like to thank especially to the Slovak members of the team, who were always very helpful and nice to us: Denisa, Alena, Filip, Alexandra, Jitka, Ivana, Veronika and Barbora. Thank you for a lovely holiday. Ema+Radek

My best friend got married last week in the hotel which is a really nice hotel, I do have some moans though! Although the staff are very friendly, the hotel is very clean and has a nice pool I was dissapointed with the planning arrangments for the wedding and the price of champagne is extortionate. We resulted in going to the local shops and buying champagne.

The wedding planning was poor, after the beautiful ceremony the bride and groom left for pictures at sunset. The guests were left to sit in a make do area with no music or entertainment of any kind, all whilst the staff were rejigging the ceremonial area for dinner right in front of us. By the time the couple arrived back everyone was bored and as such the evening passed like a damp squid. Shame really that the wedding planners were poor but if you are not getting married the hotel is nice.

Wanted to stay at this hotel for a few years now but husband did not, evenutally persuaded him to go, paid extra for seaview room as advised on Trip Advisor. Arrived late evening in the dark, given room 206, opened patio doors and stepped onto balcony to find we were in a side sea view room. Noise from the bars on the strip was bad went on till well after midnight, eventually fell asleep only to be woke up at 5am by the gardener mowing the grass on a sit on mower. Requested a change of room to a sea view for which we had paid only to be told that we had a seaview what more did we want and the hotel was full anyway. Complained to Thomson rep. we were then told we could wait 2 days for a seaview or move next door to the newly opened Sunrise Pearl. We moved to a lovely room there with full sea view but as the hotel was not quite fully functonal we were disappointed because there was not anything to do unless we went back and forth to the Sunrise Beach, I think the hotel was overbooked because they were trying to compensate people who had booked into the Sunrise Pearl which wasn't quite ready. So can't really review the Sunrise Beach because we did not say there. Unfortunately what we saw of Protaras has also put us off going back there, just a strip with loads of noisy bars, although the beach front was very nice.

Just got back from 14 days of a wonderful holiday, service at the Hotel is exceptional the staff on all levels are very friendly, special mention to Anrika, Angelo fantastic with the children, and adults what a great team, also Maria and all the reception staff, and Tassos. Position of Hotel is just perfect right on the beach and you are short walk from the shops and bars of the resort.
Will be returning. Ronnie
