“Fab hotel - fab location”
Reviewed 25 August 2014

Just returned from a fantastic 7 days in the Sunrise Beach Hotel, one of the best holiday hotels we have stayed in. On our arrival at the hotel we were checked in and greeted with a very welcome glass of fresh orange juice - a simple but very nice gesture to start the holiday off. We booked two sea view rooms which were located on the mezzanine floor area, good views of the beach and sea front off the balconies. There is a small premium to pay for a sea view but it is well worth it. We were offered an upgrade on the third day of our holiday and moved to the fifth floor of the hotel (505) a corner room with panoramic balcony views of the beach on one side and sea view/town on the other, a fabulous room with a ceiling to floor window overlooking the sea, but the highlight was the jacuzzi tub installed on the balcony - fantastic!

On our first evening we went down to dinner to be met by Neo the Maître d'hôtel, he introduced himself to us and made a big fuss of our Grandson This was a something that Oliver looked forward to on every visit to the restaurant, and as most parents/grandparents know any help in getting a three year old to eat is dinner is very welcome. All of the staff in the hotel are very friendly and helpful and all have time to chat, our Grandson had a great time "talking" to Neo, Maria & Tssasos in the restaurant and Alexandros in the Reef Bar/Restaurant (best fillet steak for ages). The "roam and dine" gives your the opportunity to visit the other restaurants associated with the hotel, try Marcellos at the top of the road, great Italian food and if you are half board you can eat here at no extra cost. Saying that the food in the main restaurant is very good with plenty of choice each evening.

The sunbed allocation system works well, you get the sunbeds allocated to you on your first morning and then they are yours for the rest of the holiday. No messing about rushing down first thing with towels to secure your beds, if you don't like the location of the beds you are allocated, ask what else is available.

We will definitely return to the Sunrise Beach and will recommend to anyone wanting to visit Cyprus. Some of the reports on the hotel suggest that it is located on the Main Street, it is actually down a side street to the hotel around 100 yards off the main road, on what has to be one of the best beaches you will see. Near enough to the main strip but also far enough way to not be in the main hustle and bustle.

Room Tip: Go for the sea view rooms, a small premium to pay but we'll worth it, if you really want to spoi...

From the moment we arrived at this hotel we were made to feel very welcome. Our room was very clean and comfortable so we knew standards were high! All the staff in all areas of the hotel were very friendly and helpful, special mention go to the guys at the beach bar who worked very hard. Good choice of food,to suit all tastes and dining in the evening overlooking the sea was wonderful. We would certainly recommend this hotel and would love to return ourselves in the future. Keep up the good work!!!!

Room Tip: we would say upgrade to a seaview room if possible what a view to wake up to!!!

On arrival to the hotel I was horrified to discover that the family rooms are based at the end of the hotel right on Protaras strip. asked to be moved or pay to upgrade but no rooms were available so for 7 nights you hear very loud music from Protaras strip which can go on till 3am, not good when you have 2 small children. Hotel itself is in a wonderful location on a stunning beach and right in the centre of resort with good quality restaurants, shops and bars. good facilities for families and a great resort for couples. Sun bed allocation is the best idea ever, every hotel should do this. The staff at pool bar near kids pool are very welcoming as are the staff in the lobby bar! Kids reps are amazing really keep the children entertained! I feel the reception staff let the hotel down the not helpful when you complain and quite patronising! I would return to this hotel but def not with my two small children if the only family rooms are facing the strip!

Room Tip: Only book a full sea view room as you may be facing Protaras strip if you book a Side sea view and t...

Me & my husband came to stay here for our honey moon. What can I say, it's perfect. All staff were very welcoming & easy to talk to. Our room was lovely & cleaned every day( the view wasn't all that good but we didn't spend much time in the room to care about the view) Our located sunbed was really good, we got a choice of where we wanted to go (we decided on the beach) it was lovely & quiet (only 4 sets of 2 beds in our area) We had breakfast that was nice & a variety of choice. Loved how close it was to the beach, also close to town that has plenty of places to eat or shop. Only thing we didn't like is the fact we came very late on the Sunday night and our flight home was late aswell so we had to pay (what we thought was abit high of a fee) for late check out, considering we didn't really get here untill late Sunday it would of been nice if the fee was waved (feels like we payed for a day we didn't really get) but other than that it's a fab hotel and we will defo return in future.

I am writing this review on our last night as Me and my wife have a drink on the terrace of the hotel bar overlooking the sea. We booked this hotel for our honeymoon and it failed to disappoint. We have been treated like royalty and staff have been very welcoming. Our room and the rest of our hotel is spotless and the location (right on the beach) is breathtaking. Only negative we have is that I just had to pay €35 for a late checkout. We had terrible flight times which resulted in us not getting to the hotel until gone midnight on our arrival and out flight home is at 11pm. I feel that with late flights and for the amount we paid for this holiday, a late checkout should come as standard. Apart from that we will no doubt be returning

This hotel is set by the most wonderful beach and blue sea - set to rival any tropical sea. The hotel has a good system of allocating you a sunbed when you arrive, so you don't have to worry about not finding a sunbed. The food is excellent and we saw many weddings while we stayed here. The room was good, clean and comfy.

Protaras has changed since my last visit many years ago. The Sunrise Beach Hotel is on the main strip and offers everything to meet your needs. From arrival, the welcome from staff at the hotel is faultless. Their sunbed allocation system is a huge bonus and they endeavour to find you a space where you would like to remain for the duration of your stay. Initially we wanted the pool area which is a very popular area for sun beds but were glad to be allocated a space in the gardens near the bar. With hindsight the pool became quite noisy so it was good to be set back from there and enjoy the peace and quiet apart from the tunes coming from the bar which were really on trend. Shops, restaurants, bars, supermarkets, boutiques all a stones throw from your sunbed!
Wifi in your room is not great but we managed to pick it up easier when we went onto the balcony.
The area is very family orientated and the Cypriots cannot do enough to oblige.
If you wish to sample the madness and party life style of Ayia Napa this is a short bus ride away on the 102 bus from outside the hotel, you can also get this bus to the waterpark which seems to be very popular.
If you start to miss home make your way to Steens restaurant a fabulous home from home atmosphere with home cooked food and incredibly obliging staff. It is very popular with families and it is wise to book. As there was only two of us we were served very quickly and food arrived very fresh and hot. The Lemongrass is also a lovely pan Asian restaurant and well worth a visit.
Indeed Protaras has changed but much for the better.

Room Tip: Do not opt for a side sea view room. Although the view is ok most rooms look onto an area of wastela...
