“Disapointed”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 June 2012

Been going to the Anastasia Apartments for six years some times twice a year.
Just got back from 2 weeks all inclusive.
Rooms clean tidy and modern, staff friendly and very helpful.
The main reason for choosing the hotel has been for the entertainment which is a must for the children. In the past this has been excelent, constant fun and games around the pool with a lively atmospher, and evening shows done by the entertainment staff with outside entertainment on a few nights.
We arrived to find the entertainment company had been changed the new ones are very disapointing. No lively atmosphere around pool and had to go out evening to find good entertainment.
Another change was to the breakfast usually they have a seperate area where you could have omletts of your chose cooked fresh. For some reason this was not available this year.
Although happy with hotel very disapointed with entertainment will have to rethink next year.

Room Tip: Rooms to the front of apartment over look the Station pub. Most of the barmen from other bars go the...

Booked the Anastasia hotel last minute and was dubious when i looked at all the photos and reviews, When we arrived it was early hours of the morning and with no sleep we just wanted to go to bed. The night receptionist mentioned something about our last day the all inclusive finish time, but we didnt take much notice as we were so tired. The main reception was quite dated and dark and at night i was dreading the rooms being awful, but i was pleasantly suprised they were certainly not awful they were quite nice and bathrooms were modern and had everything we needed. We travelled with 4 children aged from 13 to 7, and I must admit i was not entirely overwhelmed by hotel on first impressions, possibly due to tiredness but this was unfair of me as although yes it is full of dark furniture and it was actually very clean and toilets in lobby area were kept very clean and tidy better than most british toilets in public areas. The maids came every day and cleaned thoroughly and the staff were on the ball making sure everything was tidy. yes there are areas such as the corridors leading to the rooms have wallpaper pealing off but on the whole it was ok. The food was good at breakfast,7.00-10.00 bread, bacon, sausage, beans, cereal such as weetabix (the same as ours at home) museli, corn flakes ( not like ours), croissants, pastries, yoghurts, ham, cheese etc. you need to make sure you get to breakfast before 10 as at 10.00 exactly they take all the food away. then from 10.30-12.00 snacks in the bar area were usually toasties, chips, bacon, breads. then lunch 12.30-2.30 was possibly the best of all meals, good variety and had a fabulous beef dinner the meat was cooked to perfection. Afternoon snacks 3.00-6.00 usually pizza, burgers, pasta, breads. then tea 6.30-9.30 they had themed nights but these were hit and miss rice tasted burnt one night and then was lovely another. jelly went down well with kids and desserts were nice. Ok now for the bits that were dissapointing. the waterpark was on site but gated off so you had to walk in through the main entrance and give room no, but you could not take drinks or food in bearing in mind that last week it was 43 degrees this was ridiculous i sugges you take a bottle of water in your bag and drink it there, then leave towels and go back into hotel for lunch and fill up on drinks before going in. The bottled water wasnt free well thats not entirely true the water in the bottle was free on refil but you had to buy the bottles of water first to get them refiled and if you left them in your room the maid binned them. i think they should provide each guest with a bottle of water on arrival then get them refilled for free. It is apparantly the Tsokkos groups pledge to save bottles going to landfill ( someone needs to tell the maids this) good idea in theory but a bit of a pain. The biggest bug bear was the 2.00 cut off of your all inclusive on your last day. so you check out at 12.00 and then because we were not flying until 2.45am the following morn we paid 35 euros to keep 1 room on till 11.00 but they still wanted our bands cut off at 2pm so you couldnt get any food, drink or go in water park from 2pm until you left, even if you had paid to keep your room on. this is utterly ridiiculous, on complaining to the rep we were told it was the hotel groups policy not Thomas Cook and he agreed it was silly, he said to speak to them about it and because as we had arrived on the wednesday at 4am we may get a tea voucher but this wasnt guarnteed and was only for food not drinks and only for meal. A little tip to bypass this, stay away from reception after 2pm get your drinks from outside bar and dont use toilets next to reception, go to your room via staircase not lift by reception, keep your band on and then you can stay in water park all day go to tea and not pay for drinks then just before bus arrives to collect you cut off bands and leave them in your room. It works because they havent thought it through properly ad this rule is very hard to police when the have several flights leaving that day and they carnt leave reception....Apart from these silly rules we all in all had a great holiday, beach was lovely make sure you use sister hotels pool and sunbeds your allowed and saves you paying for sunbeds and brollys on beach, you can not eat or drink at their bar though so take water with you. Walkway from beach to protaras is a brill idea and location is brill, little bakery up the road by penera has gorg donuts and pastrie worth a visit. if you want wifi its expensive in hotel 50 euro for one device for one week, but costa in protarus has free wifi and there is a bar up road from hotel that has free wifi to left of hotel on road up to protaras. had great time would return as good value for money.

Room Tip: rooms on fourth floor not good if you scared of heights

I was staying in this hotel for 2 weeks.

Overall the hotel is really nice, sightly dated but never the less still very good. The hotel staff are very friendly and willing to help you with anything.

Meals - Great - plenty of choice and really tastey!

Waterpark, bit of a pain having to walk around to get and and also not being able to use your all inclusive even though its owned by the same company. However still great fun, no problem finding a sunbed and it opens at 10am.

Entertainment - Terrible - nothing for children other than "Colouring In" on an afternoon, on an evening it doesnt get much better, a Karaoke without books to choose a song from or a TV to read the words from, outside acts werent that bad, a great female singer who was let down by the house PA and not helped by Entertainment staff, and a male/female duo who were a bit naff but still quite good. The music is played extremly loud so if you want a conversation I would suggest sitting in the lovely reception area. Kiddies disco was appaulling and the "club" dance was like something that was made up by my 5 year old to a Cypriot song which when translated is all about getting a boyfriend... pretty inappropriate, and consisted of about 5 moves.

All in all ..... I was so appalled by the entertainments team and the lack of appropriate things to do or be involved in, I spoke to the Thomas Cook rep Pete who is fantastic and requested to be moved, which I was and I was moved across to the Marlita Beach where I have to say it is fantastic! I am currently still in Cyprus and not looking forward to returning to England on Sunday.

If you want to book this hotel, I would recommend it on the grounds that the hotel and its staff are brilliant, however if your entertainment plays a big part in your holiday which for those people with children it does then I would recommend the Marlita Beach which is the same hotel chain but next door.

Pernea is lovley for a walk out, plenty pubs, resturants and little shops to browse in, so dont be put off if your moved from the very busy Protaras like we were, it is literally a 25 minute walk which is quite nice.

Room Tip: DOn't Book if you need to remain on site for Entertainment.

We have just returned from a week all-inclusive at the Hotel and had a great time! The Hotel itself is an a great location, very close to the beach (not the best beach in the world- we didnt go on it) but only a 5 minute walk from pernara beach which is lovely. There is a walk way along the coast north and south and easy to walk to fig tree bay.Pernara beach is a sheltered sandy bay, perfect for young kids as its shallow for quite a way out, and has coral and a rock ideal for snorkelling! It was very hot when we were there but the breeze made it bareable! there are plenty of watersports at each of the beaches....paragliding, pedelos etc
The water park right next to the hotel (entrance included in our holiday, otherwise 15 euros each) was great- with a section for the under 8's which my 4year old loved, and some slides etc for older kids/adults! It was nver really busy, and we managed to get sunbeds right by the kids area each day (opens at 10am).Although you aren't allowed to take your drinks in from the hotel, we took bottled water and snacks in our bags so it wasnt a big deal.
We spent he mornings at the water park, then lunch at the hotel, then the afternoon at Pernara beach, returning to the hotel mid/late afternoon for a dip in the pool. The pool is a good size. There is a younger kids play area outside theadjacent hotel which you can also use for free.
Reading the other reviews some do mention that it is difficult to get a sunbed near the pool so that they could keep an eye on the kids...we never went there first thing but towels were on the sunbeds very very early with people bagsying the best spots- so get down there at 7am to beat everyone!!
The hotel itself is nice ,the food is plentiful-not superb but nice, and the service from all staff was excellent. You will NOT starve! Staff are on the ball and clear plates/cups away immediately. It was all very clean and tidy. Our room was nice and had everything you would want including a safe, air con, balcony and small fridge.
We went out one night to eat at the Nafarou restaurant (5 min walk away) and the food was excellent...its just nice to get out sometimes!
My daughter loved the mini-kids disco at 8pm-8.30pm each night, though i think it should be a bit longer. The girls organinsing/doing the evening entertainment werenice/ friendly/ good though it was a tad tacky....Bingo, Games, singers etc (the older male/female singers were bad bad bad)- hence nice to escape for a drink or a walk.
There are numerous bars, tat/convenience stores closeby to get anything you would need, and open very late.
All in all a very easy holiday... i.e plenty to keep my daughter busy, lots of kids a similar age to play with, everything within an easy walking distance, food and drink on tap (gin Fizz very nice!), and having your bed made/room cleaned every day! lol! For us, the waterpark was an excellent bonus... so if you are going check if its included in your package.

Room Tip: If you want a quiet room ask NOT to overlook the pool, as the eveings entertainment takes place next...

What can i say! the two ladies who own the hair salon inside the Anastasia hotel in Protaras are fantastic. i was getting married on the Monday and the salon shuts on Sunday/ Monday. these ladies kindly came in and opened up the salon especially for us to get our hair and make up done. they brought champagne with them for us and we received excellent service from them. the hair and makeup we had done was amazing. those ladies are skilled beyond belief and their really good English made it all the more easier to communicate. i cant praise them enough and would highly recommend you go there if on holiday for a nice pamper or if you need somewhere you can trust and rely on to do a good job. thanks again ladies.
