“Fab Holiday”
Reviewed 7 August 2013

I stayed at the Anastasia Beach with my 6 year old daughter in the last week of July, we stayed in the studio part of the resort and met with my friend and her children a few days into her stay.
Although we were not in the main part of the resort it was only a couple of minutes to the main restaurant, bar, pool and Waterpark.
It was a very quick and easy check in which was appreciated at 3am, the man at the reception even brought us sandwiches to our room shortly after which was a kind gesture.
The room was clean, had plenty of space and the beds were nice and comfortable, we also had a very nice view of the waterpark, the only downside which wasn't really an issue as it was all inclusive were ants on the kitchen top, but really as we were not in the room much it didn't really bother us. The rooms were cleaned daily and fresh towels replaced.

The food selection on offer was great and really could not fault, their was always lots of choice at all meal times,in addition the food was always hot and fresh, even my six year old was happy, if she didn't eat much at breakfast their was always a great selection of snacks that would keep her happy, nuggets, sausages, pasta, fish fingers ad more. Ice cream is on offer all day which on other all inclusives I have been on have always been at set times, the drinks as well were not watered down and the staff at the restaurant and most of the time behind the bar were lovely.

The Waterpark was fab in itself, really clean and kept tidy, the lifeguards were really fun and interactive with the kids, my daughter was not tall enough for all the slides but she enjoyed the slides and features she could go on, the only downside was that you could not eat or drink anything unless purchased at the water park bar, which was a pain to go back and forth to the main restaurant.

The entertainment was generally good fun and the team tried their best to get all involved, their was something different each night.

Overall a fab holiday that I would recommend to families

We stayed at the Anastasia Beach Hotel in May 2013, it was myself, my husband and 3 kids (aged 1, 8 & 13). We were originally allocated an apartment in the apartment block away from the main hotel - this was a bit of a trek to and from the pool with 3 kids, pushchair, towels, swim stuff etc - and you couldn't just pop back to your room when you needed to. All meals are taken in the main hotel too. Which soon became a bit of a chore morning, noon and night. The apartment block reception area was very basic, and dated. We were checked in very quickly and directed to our room. The room was very spacious and clean and had an amazing view of the waterpark. In the lounge/kitchen area was a double sofa bed which was hard and lumpy and gave my eldest son back ache after the first night. We soon found several niggly issues with the room i.e. the bathroom door didn't close, the plug was broken, the air conditioning controller unit was hazardous with wires showing and then after paying for the safe for 2 weeks were told it it was unfixable after maintenance had taken it away to be looked at. We were refunded our money. These issues all happened within the first day of our stay. To give the hotel credit, they did send maintenance up as soon as these issues were reported and all but the safe issues were addressed. On our second night, we returned to our room to find we had no electric, which therefore meant, no airconditioning, no fridge (for milk for my baby). We called reception and the security guard came to our room, flicked the light switches on and off a few times and said its not working. We had to wait until the morning. Maitenance came to our room and it was sorted out the next day.

This is where the holiday took a turn for the better, after conveying our issues with the Thomas Cook Rep (Neil - who was the best rep we have ever experienced!!) he spoke with the manager and we were offered an upgrade to a top floor suite situated in the main hotel! Bonus!! I cannot fault this room, it was magnificant with stunning views of the sea.

I did feel the hotel on a whole needs updating - especially the reception area and bar area. Staff behind the bar were very friendly and helpful. Very little queues for drinks. One thing I will point out is that we did experience very rude Russians - pushing in front of people who were patiently waiting to be served, however, they were soon told by the bar staff to join the queue.

Pool & area was clean and well kept and location across from the beach was a bonus.

The entertainment team were fantasic, they certainly made our holiday and got the kids joining in with day time and evening entertainment.

We were a bit disappointed that the hotel/Thomas Cook didn't offer a kids club, there was one in the hotel next door (which was full of Russians apparently) but we were told we would have to pay for the use of it!! Never experienced that on a package holiday before. Therefore, we didn't use this.

Waterpark is ok, my 8 year old was too tall to go on the kids slides and he was too scared to go on the adult slides so we only visited this once as he quickly got bored just paddling in the splash pool. Disappointed that you couldn't use all inclusive function in the waterpark but to be honest we didn't stay long enough!

Food - cannot fault the food. There was always a good choice, hot and fresh - probably the best food we have encountered on an all inclusive holiday. Very limited choice for children and my eldest two lived on chips and pasta but overall very good for less fussy eaters. Puddings were a bit strange though.

Overally, a good holiday - I would recommend this hotel for families but I won't be returning. I have given this a rating of very good as the staff, food and entertainment team outshone the dated hotel.

Our holiday in cyprus was great, can't fault the weather and surroundings.
The hotel was very good, let down in parts such as the pool toilets/laundrette (cleanliness) although the rest of the hotel overall was very good.

Staff are very friendly and helpful, at the bar and the restaurant.
Our rooms were basic but clean, not the most modern but for the amount of time spent in the room is doesn't really mater, beds were comfy and the air con worked great. Rooms on the apartment blocks i seen were alot nicer but both looked equally as clean, the maids were also friendly and helpful.

The food was good from what i've experienced from past hotels, had plenty of variety and i could always find something to eat, the quality was good, some of it not always red hot but warm (like the chips, sausages etc. unless you get them asap) food was of good quality i never had a problem with any i tryed. Plenty of food was always available throughout the day there was hardly ever a time you couldn't get a bite to eat.

Drinks were good and strong, cocktails were included and some juices, usual lemonade, fanta and coke which all tasted fine not watered down. Bar staff helpful and friendly, and a waiter was there to get your drinks if the que was long or you wanted to relax.

Hotel location was not right in protaras centre but a short walk away along the beach wooden walkway which was nice, pernera a smaller town was close by only a street away very short walk, it was still lively by the hotel with few things going on but not too busy which was nice, also a nice little beach was over the road. Supermarkets were near by and plenty of shops, bars, restaurants, attractions to be found in either town!

Pool area was good and pools were always warm, never overcrowded but sunbeds were difficult to get during the early hours unless you are up very early!

Entertainment team worked very hard always put in 100% effort, they were very friendly and helped make the holiday alot beter in times you would have been bored, bingo and water games etc during the day and some shows at the night including local acts.

Thomas cook holiday rep was also friendly and helpful in anything you needed they were there alot more than ive seen any other reps at other hotels which was good.

The waterpark was very good being so close to the hotel, great fun for adults and kids, only let down was you couldn't use your all inclusive in the waterpark and it was expensive!

overall it was a great holiday, i would recommend this hotel. Personally i would return but would also like to try other hotelsl in cyprus would defiantly return to this area of cyprus.

Had a really good time here but just looking around the pool the only 1s looking out of place was the 1s with no cotton wool in there ears .. Deff something up with the water in the pools ..I asked the Thomas cook rep if there was something wrong with the pools water and was told it was fine as its checked and cleaned everyday ?? But I was there 4 two weeks and am yet till see anyone clean it but I can not say the same for the water park as it was .. And was really not happy at having till pay for drinks at the water park as it should have been in with the rest of the hotel plus it was was a rip off at 3 euros 50 for an ice lolly

We arrived on the 18/7/2013 and to our delight were in fab rooms next to the water park, very clean and modern.

We were in a group of 8 with a total of 3 rooms, when we atrived in our room we discovered our air con was broken and was scheduled to be fixed the following day. after speaking to reception and getting messed around we decided to speak with thomas cook rep. who was a god send. she got our rooms changed and we were able to sleep in the 39° temp.

Although the rooms were clean, food was great and staff were mostly friendly there was 1 major probelm. THE WATER PARK IS NOT ALL INCLUSIVE even though we were? You couldnt bring drinks from the hotel bar round to their either.. annoying?

Suitable for kids and adults, entertainment was a good laugh! Try snowball bingo in the day! There was €1500 up for grabs when we played!! Drinks are strong and plentiful. great holiday :) 20 min walk from Protaras down a lovely board walk

LOVED IT!!
