“Ok family holiday”
Reviewed 11 August 2014

Just got back from 11 nights with my wife and two children (11 &14). I must admit to being very worried about my visit to the Anastasia apartments due to the very mixed bag of reviews. Thankfully we had a good time.

We stayed in the apartments which were quite spacious for 4 people. There was a decent fridge and was very clean and well presented albeit quite basic. The beds in the main bedroom were reasonably comfortable but I have to admit that the sofa beds were terrible. The rooms were cleaned every day and the towels were changed. We requested a room looking over the water park which we got and it was nice and quite at night. There was a few occasions when the reception decided to play loud music late at night and early in the morning but after speaking to them the happily turned it off. The air con in the room was really good much to the happiness of my wife(something to do with being able to put on makeup).

The staff were very polite and I have to give a special mention to the staff who worked in the dining areas who worked tirelessly. The water park was good fun but access to it could be a little easier in that it is connected to the main hotel and apartments but you have to walk down the side of the hotel to get to it(minor irritation). The main swimming pool is quite small and when aqua aerobics & volleyball are going on it doesn’t leave much room. We didn’t have any problems with sun loungers but I suppose the earlier you get up, the better the position you got.

Entertainment – not a lot to say about this. The area where the entertainment takes place each evening is so small that unless you are prepared to get a seat at 7pm and stay there all night you have no hope. We didn’t fancy sitting around all night so took a stroll on the sea front which has a path which leads down to the town center. It is about a 15min walk which we didn’t mind.

The food... breakfast is OK, quite a lot to choose from fruit, egg, sausage, pan cakes etc. (Bacon is not the type of bacon you would expect in the UK). Mid morning snacks – very basic and very limited choice. If you like chips & pizza your OK. If you want something else, you are out of luck. Lunch is again very limited in choice (from a main perspective). Chips, Pizza, chicken nuggets, pasta (for the love of God – I don’t want pizza & chips on holiday!!) There was the odd Cypriot dish which I have to admit was nice. The village salad was really nice and the dips where also nice. Dinner – again, very limited in choice but some of what they did have was ok. There were themed nights Italian, Cyprus etc with guess what..... Chips/Chicken Nuggets/Pasta/Fish Fingers..... After 5 days we couldn’t handle evening meals anymore so we decided to go out and eat at the local restaurants and have some traditional Cypriot food – great move. Food was really good and very reasonably priced. I know this goes against the idea of going all inclusive but I wasn’t going to allow my digestive system to be assaulted any further.

Drinks where OK, didn’t drink any alcohol so can’t comment .

This whole Russian rudeness thing I didn’t see. The Russians that where there seemed perfectly polite to me. The chain smoking, beer guzzerling Brits on the other hand... have some respect for yourselves. I cannot understand how drinking beer at 10am and smoking in front of your kids is a good idea? Clearly this is not everyone, but there was quite a lot if people in this category.

Overall the Anastasia apartments are OK, food is a big part of our family holiday and we felt that food was poor compared to other similar hotels I have stayed in.

We returned on the 6th Aug after a 2 week stay and we will be booking up to return! All staff were friendly and helpful, especially reception and Gaz and Sharlene the Thomas Cook reps who were very knowledgeable about the island and helped us out when my son needed to see a doctor. The food choice was fantastic and was available near enough all day. You'd never go hungry. Entertainment team were fantastic. Water park was brilliant for the kids. My only niggle was wifi cost 30 euros per week but apart from that we really enjoyed our stay

Had a wonderful week here, we had an apartment rather than a room all inclusive. Food was fab except the late evening snack by that time though you didn't want anything else. Service was goodcleanliness was really good, entertain team were really great. Took teenage son only issue there was no free WiFi. Water park which is included was small but fab for all ages. Beds really comfortable air con was dated but worked.

Room Tip: If a family recommends apartment not rooms as room smallish and have water park rather than roadside...

Family of 4, 2 girls 10 and 13, we all enjoyed the holiday immensely. The apartments are huge, a little dated however clean and quite, the room we were in was 401, top floor facing water park. Food fresh, plentiful and loads of variety. Drinks again plentiful, a few you do need to pay for however we never did as there were huge list of alcoholic cocktails plus plenty choice for the children, including squash. Entertainment was great for youngsters until 2130 a but if bingo then the main shows start at 2200 ish. Meemo is brilliant as are the rest of the hotel team, if the fire show is on when you are there, it's a must see. Don't belive the rubbish reviews.
