Good hotel, lovely staff, great location......
Plus points;
*Great location, 2mins from resort centre and Fig Tree beach (the one in all the brochures)
*Good choice of foods at meal times, always hot with salad and veggie options
*If Half Board you can swap evening meal for lunch by request
*No rush for sunloungers (stayed 11/5/14 for 7nts)
*Friendly and very helpful staff
*Rooms cleaned well daily - beds really comfortable, they had some sort of matress topper on them. A/C in room controlled
*Pool Towels provided - free of charge
*Travelled with Thomas Cook - rep excellent and always on hand
Negative points;
*Hotel is a little tired in places ie lick of paint needed and some carpets fraying but the bits that really count were spot on.
*Fitness area (not that we used it - I'm on holiday!!!) had good quaility equipment. The Spa Treatments were not great but price reflected this = full body massage was only 20euro and still did the trick, hotel does not market it's self as a Spa hotel, so doesn't claim perfection in this area anyway.
*Russian's - not a problem for me at all, however I know some other British guests were not happy and frequently stating as such at reception - poor staff did what they could but no ones.
*Safe hire charged at 17.50euro for the week

Would defiantely stay here again

Room Tip: Pay for Side Sea View or Full Sea View - depending in how much time you are going to spend in your r...

Had our annual holiday here this year, went with a group of friends, eight of us in total and none of us could fault the hotel or the staff, each member of the staff went beyond the call of duty to help and without exception they were all amazing.the hotel itself is very clean and extremely well maintained, before we went we read that it is dated its not its stylish, all in all we will all go back there one day.

We loose in our favorite game, named "Book your favorite hotel at cheapest price" , and had to stay in Constantinos using some very special offer. Typically we stay in Sunrise beach, but they had very unreasonable prices in the front of May vacation madness.
At first glance, Constantinos impressed us much, everything was very luxurious and shiny : transparent elevators gracefully moved rich and fat people up and down with one floor increments, golden handrails, hanging gardens, furniture was of posh type, but looked borrowed from some Hollywood fantasy movie ( sorry, I can't name this furniture as rich or stylish ).
The architecture is a wild and tasteless mixture of various unrelated styles : colonial balconies, ancient Greece nearby main entrance and pure Cyprus ginger roof :-))
But during our stay we found the following pros and cons:
Pros:
- Really the best food in we ever saw in _hotel_ ( we visit this country regularly for six years )
- Hotel opens one of first in low season ( as most five stars do )
- Reception staff is very constructive and adaptive. When you justify something, you will always get it. Very customer-oriented people. But that's not to say about restaurant staff at all...

Cons:
- The typical guest of this hotel is a russian gangster ( in May, especially ). That's it. If you meet those guys whole day, and they are everywhere around, you start feeling like an alien, visiting Earth for first time. Not comfortable at all.
- Animation is negligible, uncertain and lazy. Animators are afraid of kids, and kids disco is a frustrating show.
- No point in AI. Fake Commandaria, fake red wine with great amount of alcohol, e t.c.
- Staff is overtrained. They keep trained faces and tell trained words. Nothing sincere. And even worse : there are plenty of regulations, approved by hotel, and middle management people ( like maitre de hotel ) was annoyingly trying to subordinate us to these regulations ( like do not order drinks directly from waiters, call only maitre ). And when someday we arrived back to the hotel from the excursion ( it was 21:15 PM ), and kindly requested some food, we met again this crazy corsair-looking maitre, who _happily_ told us, that as soon as restaurant is closed already for 15 minutes, no live people are there, and nothing _should_ and will be done for us! We were angry, but he was happy! He succeed in subordinating us again! Good job, maitre...
- Hotel needs severe refurbishing. Handrails are in scratches, doors are in scratches, wallpapers are dirty and damaged
- A lot of mosquitoes. Hotel water supply system is in bad condition, and we felt the horrible smell near the beach bar. And we suppose, that it was the place, where those mosquitoes were born, and then spread over ventilation to every room. We were combating those annoying creatures every day during the whole month of our stay, and in the end of our stay we had no sleep for two nights ( mosquitoes were immortal or had many lives, as in computer games ).
- Wifi is NOT free in five star hotel! That was annoying and not funny in any way... But even when you are happily got a precious connection, you will have to wait a good time for a page to load ( to pay more for it :-))
- No child locks on all doors! When your kid loves to travel, he will constantly open the door when you can't see and run away. That's exactly we experienced every day
- When you live even in most expensive front sea view ( as we did), do not expect crystal clear sea breeze every minute. This will really happen only in early morning, when kitchen is not working yet. And during whole day you will feel the strong smell of various food, emanating from restaurant below ( no matter, in which floor do you live ). So, the choice is up to you. You are warned!
We do not plan to stay here again. Better choose Sunrise Pearl, if you like five stars.

Room Tip: To circumvent mosquito problem, accommodate in rooms, facing the bus parking ( starting from *26 and...

My wife and I arrived at 12.30 am and having travelled most of the day from the Isle of Wight and being all-inclusive we understandably expected some light refreshment before retiring to bed, this was not offered and we were told to go straight to our room. the Atrium bar should have been open till 1am but that was all in darkness so we trundled up to our room. Well what a surprise a double bed in a space for a queen size bed with a queen size wall head board. you needed really long arms to reach the bed side cabinets, I'm 6ft 5in and I could not reach them. the mattress was only about 4in thick and incredibly hard so we did not sleep well. Not being serial complainers we did put up with it for a couple of days but with my wife's birthday pending and our backs suffering we complained. Andreas the manager did eventually find us another room with a decent bed with the air conditioning actually working because it hadn't in the first room but refused to acknowledge that 5* accommodation mean's large beds(look at your brochure it shows queen size beds) On one occasion he had a stand-up row in front of guests with one of the barmen and a rep. All in all a pretty poor show although I will finish with some positives in that the staff (apart from reception) were very friendly and the food fairly decent 4* fare. I would not recommend anyone to book a holiday at this hotel.

Room Tip: Air-con better on the upper floor plus west side of hotel offers better views

I have just returned from a stay at Constantinos the great. I am 22 and I travelled with my 23 year old partner.
After reading all reviews on trip advisor, I got slightly worried that this hotel was not what it cracked up to be. VERY WRONG- from start to finish it was perfect.
Very relaxed environment, perfect location, and really friendly Cypriot people.
Protaras is the perfect location for a couple of any age that love scenary, activities and a bit of luxury. 10 mins away from Ayia Napa, located directly on the beautiful beach of Protaras, I honestly couldn't fault any of it.
The rooms were pleasant, we didn't pay for a sea room view, but we got one anyway! It would be unfortunate if you didn't as most of the hotel has views of the sea due to its direct location!!
The bed was the most comfy thing ever, bathroom was modern, room always cleaned to a good standard during the day.
The food in the hotel was great, comments on here say its cold, not up to standard etc. I am guessing that they must be very fussy people. We went half board and had breakfast everyday with a variety of lunch and dinner. Breakfast was great. everything you could want was there.
For lunch and dinner they did every sort of meat you can think of, with fresh veg, salad, jacket potato, all cooked to a brilliant standard. Fruit was available at all times, bottled water, tea and even pancakes!!!!
We enjoyed the facilities- gym, steam room, sauna and even indoor pool aswell! We also loved the ping pong table.
Only downfall with this location was not anything to do with the hotel or area itself- it was the Russians.
Many of them holiday here, and many of them stay at this hotel. They are pig ignorant, completely rude and they have no manners. My tip would be to give the same stern treatment back and also ignore them. Protaras is amazing, the beaches, the boat trips, the watersports, the strip, the short journey to Ayia Napa!!! HIGHLY recommend for all ages.

Had the privilege of a week's stay at Constantinos the Great Beach Hotel in March 2014. At the end of the low season, was blessed with great weather and the resort was nice and quiet - just what I needed!

The staff really are the greatest asset to this establishment - always friendly, helpful, courteous and polite. Check-in was quick and efficient, and before I knew it, we were up in our room. The room was large and well appointed. The beds were comfortable and the linen / pillows were clean and well presented. There was also plenty of wardrobe space to store clothing. The room has a small balcony, affording me some fresh air and a nice view of the sea.

The bathroom was of a good standard and the maid kept everything nice and clean. The shower was of the over the bath tub style. Toiletries were available, if required.

Staying half-board my only concern was the quality of the food, as it had read some negative comments on here. However, my fears were unfounded; both breakfast and evening meals were always of a very good standard and offered a great variety. Having said that, a couple who were half way through a two week stay, did comment that the week before the food wasn't quite so good......

However, a couple of points that I felt let the Constantinos the Great Beach hotel down, and issues I think should be taken for granted to achieve a 5* rating:

1) No in room safe.
2) Expensive wifi
3) Gym not properly supervised - small kids running wild
4) Sauna looked dangerous and potential fire hazard
5) Poor and uncreative entertainment (bingo!)

Would I recommend this hotel to a family member for friend? Yes!

My Husband and I have just returned from a week's holiday here. Check in was quick and straight forward. We got to our Room, we stayed in Room 225. I could not believe my eyes when we opened the door, the room looked as if it had not been dusted in a few weeks!! The furnishings overall were ok and the bed was comfortable and large. Our air conditioning didn't work properly the whole time we were there (maintenance issues we were told) made sleeping very uncomfortable. The view from our balcony was really nice. We stayed on a half board basis and like previous reviews the food is not great but you won't starve, just didn't feel breakfast and evening meals were hot enough and there wasn't a great lot of choice. Staff were quite friendly (well some of them). Evening entertainment was a joke, we had to go for a walk every night to kill some time but by the end of the week we got a bit fed up of doing that. The island itself is beautiful, we would return but never to this hotel and not to Protaras again.
