Just got back from 10 days at the Antigoni and thought id write a review to warn others not to book! dont get me wrong, this is not the worst hotel in the world but there are many better hotels in the Protaras area. When we (me aged 19 and my friend 23) arrived it was 2 in the morning so we couldnt really get a feel for the hotel until the morning, the first thing we did notice was how small the rooms were. This didnt really bother us as we dont spend much time in our room when on holiday.
We were all inclusive so at breakfast time we went to the restaurant to see what was available... oh dear. There was sausages, bacon (well, fat mainly) potatoes etc which were all swimming in grease so we decided we would skip breakfast and look forward to lunch. Oh dear again! Lunch was equally vile and the only food we found edible was fries! Unfortunately our evening meal wasnt much better. One evening we opted for garlic chicken and it was a portion of chicken covered in a neon green sauce! it didnt get any better. So unfortunately we had to dine out for breakfast every day, skip lunch and have fries and mayonaise daily.... this got very repetitive!
Staff at this hotel were among the worst ive ever met, there were a few lovely ones but the rest could turn the milk sour!
I cant comment on evening entertainment as we went out to Rockafellas every evening (best bar on the strip by far) but daytime entertainment was as dull as the food! the animation girl never introduced herself, and got moody when we didnt want to take part. I always take part in activities on holiday but i didnt wish to join in with her with that attitude.
The only thing faultless with this hotel is the pool and the location. The pool is the biggest in the area and always kept clean, it was absolutely freezing but it was May so we expected this.
The location of this hotel is perfect for families, its a 5 minute walk to bars and clubs so you cant hear any noise of a night time, but its close enough to walk to the clubs in high heels! theres a short cut next to the tennis court that takes you onto the strip, a much quicker way than walking out the front of the hotel.
So, overall this hotel does have a couple positives but they are greatly outweighed by the negatives so i would not stay here again. We did have a lovely holiday but that was because we used the hotel for the sunbeds and rooms only.
From walking down the strip every night i would greatly reccommend Rockafellas and sfinx bar, they had the best entertainment on the strip. Definately dont miss the Elvis and Robbie Williams tribute acts in Rockafellas, absolutely amazing!!
oh and listen out for Band Aid By the pool, they played the same mixed tape daily and this was just one of the many strange song choices!!
