“Great Time”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 September 2013

Just returned from 2 weeks at the Chrystalla Hotel. Had a great time. Staff were very friendly and excellent service. Food was good, rooms basic but clean and spacious. Location ideal, right next to Fig Tree Bay and at the end of Protaras main street. Will definately return.

Room Tip: Rooms at the front of the hotel have a sea view, rooms to the rear look over waste ground, but still...

Stayed at Chrystalla Hotel 8 Sept for a week. Hotel's location was excellant a minute to Fig Tree Beach. The Hotel pool area was clean and a good size, we had no problems getting a sunbed, some people still insisted putting towels on sunbeds then disappeared for hours . Staff were friendly.Cleaners came everyday and left fresh towels. The hotel is a bit dated, rooms small, but big enough as you only sleep there. The balconys were small could just about fit a table and 2 chairs...and us of course, but view was excellent. We paid for a sea view, but it was worth paying a bit extra for the beautiful sea view. The worse part of our stay was the terrible food at the hotel. Breakfast often ran out of dishes, cutlery, once food had gone it was not replenished. We had no butter for 3 days, margarine only, scrambled eggs, mushrooms all watery.Evening meal food was often cold and looked congealed...not very appertising. Soup and Chips cold.......wine warm!!!!!.The food all looked like cheap options had been used. Even the sweets had no ice cream which is normally the basic part of the sweet menus.Previous reviewer had stated food 5*, I can only think they went to another hotel of the same name.It is a shame as the dining experience was not good and if they could improve this it could be a nice small hotel.

Room Tip: Request a sea view room

Just to let you know that we returned from our holiday yesterday and we all had an absolutely amazing time. None of us had been on this type of holiday before but we would definately go back. The location of the hotel was perfect. Excellent hotel and friendly hard-working staff, a very enjoyable holiday and will return in the future. A very clean and beautiful place. Really enjoyed holiday in Cyprus. Would love to go back for sun, sea and dining. The best holiday since my last one. It was like a sunny dream that didn't want to end. Thank you so much for providing such a great time.

Room Tip: Room with sea view.

Was at this hotel 24th July was so looking forward to it, never been to Cyprus before. The welcome was very friendly we booked a sea view room which was done ny thompsons didn't know till we got tickets, well no need to pay extra as the view was out of this world any way if you ask to be put on that side, so was money wasted, no one else had paid. The room we had was on 4th floor but had a king bed noooo! Too hot for that booked twin beds, next morning no probs was moved to another room still with view of the beautiful fig tree bay WOW. If you want a hol with a view then this is for you, but if you want something going on in the hotel well don't book here. The staff are so nice and friendly can't do enough, the pool area is so clean and pool water tested most days but the music was so loud some days you couldn't talk so we went to the beach most days. The food was ok no need to eat out but it was not the best, sorry for that don't mean to offend the chef. We was there for two weeks one would have been enough for my husband. Rockerfellas was a good bar with a great soul singer on, and Q bar where we went every night for my cocktails only 2euros and great coffee. All in all we had a good time but unlike others will not be returning. Sorry! I also have to say the bedding could have been better as it had a lot of stains on it and our was not changed for nearly a week and the shelf that had the t v on had smiley faces drawn on in the dust, but the beds were so comfy and the pillows I could have brought mine home!!!!

Room Tip: No need to pay for sea view just ask to be put at front of hotel. Have a drink in Q bar very comfy a...

Me and my partner stayed here for two weeks from 14.8.13 till 28.8.13, and we found it very nice. Its a family run hotel and they all work very hard, always smiling, and asking if everything is ok. yes the rooms were a bit out dated but very clean, we payed a bit extra for a sea view, the balcony was big enough for 2 people but maybe a bit of a squeeze for 4 people. The pool area is lovely the water is tested regulary and its spotless, you don't have to fight for a bed either. Theres only 77 rooms here so its a small hotel compared to all the rest on the sea front, we walked along there of a morning and all the beds on the beach were taken, there wasn't one little spec left, so we didn't bother going the beach we stayed by the pool every day, we ate by the pool and the food was lovely, the staff had a mix up with our food one day and there youngest son couldn't apologize enough, and didn't charge my partner for his food, which I thought was nice of him. our cleaner was lovely we left money camera watchers ect in our room and they were never touched, very trust worthy. go on the big red bus tour 20 euros each and your on the bus 3 hours but its good, and alan the fella that owns it is great. you have to be out the room at 12 we were getting picked up at 7, and they let us keep the room till 3 no charge. if I go back one day to Cyprus then we will be going back to this hotel.

Room Tip: sea view its extra but worth it.

My daughter and I have just returned from a weeks stay at this hotel and really enjoyed the experience. We were given a room on the 4th floor which overlooked the swimming pools. The room was cleaned everyday, towels changed every day and bedding every other day. For breakfast there was a selection of continental or english breakfast, you could prepare your own fresh orange juice and coffee available from the coffee maker. For dinner there was a large selection of hot and cold items, there was always an healthy option. Drinks were not included but this is mentioned on the menu displayed in the reception area. The staff all work very hard and are all helpful, polite and friendly. the Managers would continually check if 'everything is okay' and were all very helpful. the service offered is as good as a 5* hotel. It is somewhere to stay and offers most things that people need to enjoy their holiday. there is a fridge in the room and they charge 2.50 euros per day to use. You are not allowed to bring in food and drink from outside to eat it at the pool area and they do have signs saying this. overall we had an amazing time in Cyprus and the most part of this is because of the wonderful Chrystalla hotel that we stayed at.

I have have just returned from a week's stay at the Chrystalla Hotel. I was in a party of six, four adults and two children. The rooms we were allocated can only be described as disgraceful. Filthy stained bedding, the floor was covered in a thick layer of dust as was the bathroom with a yellow stained toilet seat to compliment the feeling of a run down prison cell!
We were on a half board basis but the food can only be described as awful and we ate out every day. The cutlery tray and utensils were dirty.
When we confronted the hotel owner he shouted at us and hid in his office. We feel that we have just been in a Cypriot version of Fawlty Towers. If you are looking to go to Protaras please look at other hotels. This hotel is not worth the risk...
