Oh dear...... We have just returned from this accommodation, after reading good reviews..... The apartments are basic but ok and clean. However the pool and pool area's cleanliness left a lot to be desired. Due to the fact that anyone can use the pool, especially holiday reps. They stubbed cigarette ends on the floor everywhere. These were not cleaned the day after... The sides of the pool were filthy, covered in grime. To top it all Excrement was found in the pool one afternoon!!!!!!!! I complained and it was immediately cleaned but this put my family and I off the accommodation.... I also don't agree with paying 6 euros per day for air con, this should be included in the price, however you can get it on without paying, using the small black button in the bottom right hand corner.... The bakery was great, with homemade fresh baguettes toasted of cold. I at first thought the lady in the bakery was miserable, but she is quite sweet once you get to know her.... We love protaras and this would not stop us going next year....

Me and my partner Have just returned home from Stayin at the Astreas Apartments, I would say the hotel is very over rated, we booked our holiday more than a year ago with thomas cook due to the good reviews on here but was abit dissapointed, When we arrived we got a bill for the aircon and saftey deposit box we paid 150euros for it but got 40euros bk at the end! we asked for a sea view or pool view room and got given a the room that faces lots of trees so didnt get a good view, plus side to the balcony was that it was huge we had room 231 :) We had a studio room witch was really quite big, you could sleep up to 3 persons in it.Made serives really good and really nice! The Location was Good very close to the beach bars and restraunts the best place to eat we thought was the La Paladella very welcoming and friendly. The pool Area was ok but Very old looking. My Partner didnt go it it beacause he said it was dirty, We wud always hav sum1 elses hair wrapped around our hands witch was abit minging! the Bakery was very nice but things never changed, the assistant was very misserable too never smiled or spoke. We would not return to these apartments but would deffo go bk to cyprus without a doubt! :) :(

Room Tip: It doesnt matter what room you pick! You get what your given, this was the case for us anyway! we as...

Having been to Greece for many years this was our first time in Cyprus, I would say the standard of this accommodation was good, there was a bath with a shower curtain!!! The rooms were cleaned every day, the towels changed every two days and the beds changed every three days. The maid left plenty of toilet rolls, in the kitchen there was a full cooker, microwave, dish drainer, washing up liquid, scourer and tea towels. Ours was a studio for three but there was only my husband and I so there was plenty room. The balcony was small but nice. We did get three cockroaches in the room during our two week stay but it’s a hot country so these things happen. The aircon was 6 Euros a day and the safe deposit box was 2 Euros per day.
The pool area is quite tired and was not terribly clean, there was a tide line around the pool and it was slippy to walk near the pool. The pool bar was ok but it shut early so there was nowhere to go for a drink at the apartments later on. The location is practically on the beach, its 7.5 Euros for two beds and an umbrella, it gets very busy and a couple of times we couldn't get beds down there. There is a small island which you can swim out to and also some rocks, there are lots of fish so it’s good for a wee snorkel around. The walkway along the beach is lovely and there is usually a breeze which is nice when walking into town. The apartments are at the quite end of the strip and were perfect for us. The resort itself was quite busy and has your usual large Karaoke bars but there were enough smaller bars to keep us happy.
All the restaurants we ate in were good and there was a large enough selection of vegetarian dishes available, the prices were reasonable too and the service was fantastic.
All in all a good resort, good accommodation albeit a little dated and fantastic weather – what more could you ask for?

just got back from a 2 week stay at astreas (22 july - 5 August), cannot believe how good the rating of these apartments are on trip advisor. The staff are very friendly and maids keep the very old and shabby rooms clean , the sofas in the lounge which are also beds are very hard and uncomfortable the bathroom is your worst nightmare old dim and decrepid with broken floor /bath panel tiles. The pool area is very slippery round the edges where suncream has built up because its not being cleaned regulary enough , the tiles which show the depth are , loose sticking up and dangerous ; sun loungers and parasols have seen better days; quite frankly i think its time they pulled the place down. Keeping on painting it is not enough. We were told this is a family hotel , I THINK NOT!!!! we went with our 13 year old ,hardly any children here at all nothing for them to do other than a tatty pool table and dont even get me started on the so called play area( one rusty see-saw).....locals arrive at the weekend and use and abuse the pool area leaving glasses, rubbish, and fag ends all over the place , we are paying for these facilities and yet they are allowed to trash them!! If the price reflected it this would be very good budget accomodation in a quieter spot , however for what we paid i think it is very over priced by thomas cook .

Stayed in the Astreas Apartments as a family of 5,booked into two apartments for the last week of July and first week of August 2012.These apartments are extremely clean and tidy and the staff are very friendly. The apartments are spacious and have everything required for a self catering holiday, which also includes a full sized cooker, not that we used it because we ate out every night. There is also a great bakery attached which is very handy.Just a minutes walk away is a big supermarket and the main strip with all the bars and restaurants you could possibly need.
No need to get up to reserve sunbeds as there were always plenty available and this is one of the first places we have been where no one bothered reserving as it is pointless! Also Fig tree Bay is on the doorstep so perhaps a lot of the guests just went there. There are only about 40 or so apartments anyway I think.
Air conditioning is an extra but we new this before we booked so not a problem.
If you can ask for room 426 which we had-the balcony is HUGE being at the top end of the hotel, and is the size of another apartment and then some.
To sum up-a really good place, and better than any other self catering I have stayed in in Cyprus(even though others have a higher official star rating)!!

Room Tip: Pick room 426 for the biggest balcony you will ever see!

just back from 2 weeks at the astreas apartments, can't think of anything wrong with it, best thing was not having to get up at stupid o'clock to get a sunbed!! even at midday you could still get a bed, perhaps people go to the beach more as it's so close to fig tree bay. safe 2 euros a day, aircon 6 euros which we didn't bother with as it's only in the bedroom but after the first night we did hire a fan for 2 euros a day, perfect view of the beach, tho there is the car park which tends to get the kids on quad bikes using it a race track of an evening. nice little swim up pool bar and the water wasn't freezing!! bakery/snack bar was nice for mid day snack. as your off the strip there's no noise of an evening but you are literally 100 yards away. reception very friendly and helpful, we checked in online for our return flight and they printed of our boarding cards for us. free wi fi in lobby area, lots of sofas there, maid were in every day to clean and towels/ beds changed every 2/3 days. the only down side is that at weekends you get the locals? using the pool, taking up the beds then going of to the beach for hours, but as long as you have a bed by about 10 your'll be ok.. nice little block for families or couples, would defo recommend these
